Hey there friends!

I did it!  It was an awesome experience.   The morning started at 4:30 am.  I was the first athelete in line for transition set up and body marking.  The volunteers nodded knowingly at each other, acknowledging my newbie status.  i just wanted to make sure that I got parking for the event!

Boy am I glad that I drove to the park, rather than opting for the shuttle.  Had I taken the shuttle, I would have had to bike 2 miles, post race, with backpack on to my car.

I'll post a race report once I get my times, but I think I did the whole thing in about 3 hours.

For now, here's a pic with me and my girls at the end of the race.

I'm definitely hooked and am already planning for next year.  There are a few other events in the area this year, but I'm going to focus on a 5K in October and boot camp classes that start next Tuesday.

Thanks for your support and cameraderie!

Awesome races and training gang.

I had a 1.2 mile open water swim with the Masters to test my wet suit and swim at Madison.  Probably should have done the 2.4 but live and learn.  I was 22/40 in the division, 46:47.  Then was supposed to ride.  More bike problems.  Ran 8 and came home.  Going to the bike shop today and starting over.  This shop has been trying to make something work devised by another shop and I think the strategy was all wrong to start.  Starting fresh. 3 weeks.  Not panicked.  Will get it done.  I've ridden the course 4 times in person and more times than I care to say on the Computrainer so I'm good with that.  Rode 85 miles yesterday back home with my coach.

Hope you get the bike figured out Ice. You've put in a lot of time and hard work over the last several months. It'll all come together in Madison.

I could tell during the run but I'm still proud of myself I will post a rr report and let you all know when it is up..Hope the others members races went well.

Impressive results! Especially with that 14 mile SWIM! Wink Looking forward to reading your RR.

Ice, what's the problem with the bike???

I had a terrible back injury 35 years ago.  I have to be raised.  Problem is raising caused a loose headset.  I took it to another bike shop that tried to make the first bike shop's plan work....but it won't. So I am turning it over to the second bike shop for anew strategy.  My coach is talking to them too.  He uses them.  I was just told they have a good plan.  Waiting to hear.

Seems folks with GPS say the rain and ind blew the buoys out of line and we actually swam 1.4 miles.  I was good with that 46:47 time for 1.2, very happy with it at 1.4 miles. Swim courses cannot be compared, I've learned that.  Get out of the water, get the bike and start to pedal...

Finally starting to get back in the groove of things after the move. Was able to get in a short muddy trail run today on the greenbelt that follows the river through town.  So in the mud along the trail (mind you this is in the middle of town) there were grizzly bear tracks (you can tell its a grizzly because of the claw marks!) that were about the size of my hand!!!  Where have I moved to?  Crazy I thought Wyoming was remote, going out today to buy bells and bear spray!

And to think, I was just complaining to a friend about the dogs that bark at me on my run!  I have it easy!

Be careful Robin!  BTW, is it snowing there yet?

No snow yet, just lots and lots of rain!!!

I have a fitness evaluation tomorrow at my new gym.  I should be looking forward to it, however the 12 pounds I gained in the last 2 months (no joke) and lack of exercise over much of the summer has me dreading it. Trying to stay positive, as I know it is just a matter of time before it all comes back - aready lost 3 pounds in the last 1 1/2 weeks.

Congratulations, triathlete!! You did great, and I am so glad you had a good time!. Love the picture, too!
