Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: 100 Days of Ghoulie power, Part II Good morning Ghoulies! We had another storm last night that was more lightning than rain. My sister lives in south eastern Maryland, they got hammered last night. She told me they had 80 mph winds, they have 2 trees down in their yard, plus branches everywhere. She said she heard chainsaws running at 1 am, so she figured there were probably trees down on the road. She went to check on the kids at one point and her son was huddled in a ball on the bathroom floor. They have power though, and the little wading pool she has for her 2 year old was still in the yard, she doesn't know how that didn't blow away, so she said they'll be ok. We were going to go down tomorrow and go to the movies, pick up cupcakes she was making for Keri, and get Keri's ears pierced. Now we may be going down with chainsaws to help clean up. |

Good morning Ghoulies Glad you and your Sis are okay. That sounds scary. We could use the rain, but I am glad we missed those storms. You all be careful and have fun with the Birthday celebrations. |

Went down to Annapolis yesterday to see Brave with my sister and her family. We took Keri and got her ears pierced, too. It was busy, but a good weekend. Wore me out. I'm tired. I only have to drive to work 3 days this week. I am working from home tomorrow, then I have off on Wednesday. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: 100 Days of Ghoulie power, Part II Let me tell you about Saturday morning's kayaking class. My husband and daughter went along to the lake, they were going to swim while I was in class. We got there early, need to get the kayaks out of the shed. When the park ranger, Tara, opened the shed I noticed it was fuller than normal. She said another park charges for their classes, so they were going to buy new equipment and they donated their stuff to other parks. We were ready for class, still had plenty of time, so Tara said I could take Keri out kayaking. I took one of the new kayaks we had, I put Keri in one I knew was stable. I did not like the new one. It was cut different, I felt cramped, and it felt wobbly. People got there for the class, we had 8, 6 of them had never been in kayaks before, 1 of them had been in once. An older, larger woman got into the kayak I didn't like. I took a bigger, wider kayak. We weren't out in the water very long and I was nervous for this woman. She couldn't steer. Once I thought she was going to tip over. She was holding the paddle incredibly lopsided, which I think was causing the steering problems. About halfway through the class we stop where the creek comes down and splits around some small islands while feeding into the lake. The water is just below my knees at this spot, and the bottom is mostly muddy. I got up near land as much as possible and got out of my kayak. I then helped this woman get out of hers and into mine. I then jumped into her kayak. I'm still not sure how we did all of this without anyone ending up in the water. She looked much more stable the kayak now. When we got back and the people had went on their way the park ranger thanked me for trading kayaks, she said she was sure this woman was going to end up in the lake. The woman said she had a good time, and she'd like to come back and try it again. I hope she does, and Tara will be prepared to put her in a different kayak. I can't wait until Thursday for the kayak demo at the lake. Caleb and I already have several picked out we'd like to try, and there will be reps there from at least 4 companies. Before July is over we will have kayaks in the Speelman house. |

Champion 14677 | Subject: RE: 100 Days of Ghoulie power, Part II Morning Ghoulies. Didn't do much of anything this weekend. We had some folks over Saturday night but I just sort of spun my wheels. We did go to the opening ceremony for the improvements at Chimney Rock state park. As with everyone else, it was HOT. I have been trying to keep the yard alive by moving hoses around. (we have a gravity water system for outdoors so I don't have to worry about wells or cost for outdoor watering). Then.... last night... GREAT thunderstorms and rain! The dog was not happy, but we sure were. Well, except that I had my car windows open ..... oops. |

Got to meet a lot of his friends that I keep hearing about. Served up my cheesecake and immediately had lots of new best friends who want me to make my cheesecake for their birthdays. LOL, good luck with that. I made two cheesecakes to make sure we had enough and I'm glad I did because the first one was gone before I even got a piece. Saturday was a nice lazy day for Frank and I. Sunday we had a wedding in the afternoon. Oh my, what a wedding. Redneck all the way! It was a hoot. |

Sounds like lots of people are still without power. When we were driving down to Annapolis yesterday we saw places along the highway where there were downed trees. We also saw one of the huge road signs that sits along the highway lying on the side of the road split into several pieces. Nice that there was family to send your daughter to, hope your sister didn't mind. |

Needless to say, it was quite interesting. Unlike any wedding that I had ever been to. I don't think anyone got a book or read a magazine on how to do a wedding. They had not be registered anywhere and when they finally did, it was at target and there were only two items on the list. LOL |
