Other people who just ran blazing fast marathons a week ago, no less (wasn't even thinking about what that would feel like!)...while MOP me won't bite off an Oly 6 weeks after a race. It's just so much easier to tell other people to go for it!

Asalzwed - 2012-07-20 12:57 PM I have this comped entry to a triathlon on Sunday. My finger is hovering over the registration. I have only been swimming once and my bike rides are uhhhh, limited.....

What's the worst that happens, you DNF and didn't waste your money on it?? What's the swim distance - you were rocking those 100s the other day, you can certainly do a spring distance swim.  And anyone who can run 26.2 can ride their bike for a few miles! And, obviously, the run is a non-issue.

It's just a sprint...a half mile swim. 12 mile bike.

Good lord you just ran a 3:23 marathon, you can knock out a little sprint!  Just take it easy in the water, spin your way through the 12 miles and stomp flower gardens/knock down rainbows in the run!

Knock down rainbows in the run. Can't say I have ever heard that one. I like it!

Don't set your expectations too high. I only just yesterday was able to walk without a hobble-limp.

Don't let her fool you guys.  She's tough.

We Manatees "encourage" (instigate) each other!!!!! Besides, how much recovery time does Super-Woman really need, huh?

That just made me look at the calender to see how long i actually had to prep. It's only 4 weeks this Sunday!!!! OMG, bugger, etc. And i sit typing before you whilst chomping through a greasy kebab and cold bottle of San Miguel to wash it down with. 3 bottles of californian red on standby for when i watch TdF highlights and DW comes home from work.

Me thinks i may have to get a little serious. Should i start on Monday????

hahaha, oh four weeks is plenty of time with that discipline! PS - I"m jealous it's already Friday night for you. I'm wasting my afternoon away here in the forums, completely ignoring the fact that I have minimum billable hours. Oopsie. I'll make up the 100 hours or so sometime in November...

Yes, I am in. The promo code they gave me didn't work (I imagine they deactivated it MONTHS ago when you are SUPPOSED to register) but the RD told me to just show up at the expo tomorrow and she'll take care of me.

Crap. I guess I better dig out my tri stuff...

What do I need again? Smile

Kirk, glad you're here.  I was just going to ask for bike-related advice.  Someone posted in the Oceanside thread that a smaller crank is recommended for the hills on that race. I ride hills in my training but they are work.  Would I benefit from a smaller crank? Would it affect my other rides? I'm not even sure what I have now or what I would look for.  HELP? Anyone? Anyone?

I wish. It's really difficult to be minimalist in a triathlon. There are just so many sports

hahaha, oh four weeks is plenty of time with that discipline! PS - I"m jealous it's already Friday night for you. I'm wasting my afternoon away here in the forums, completely ignoring the fact that I have minimum billable hours. Oopsie. I'll make up the 100 hours or so sometime in November...

That is one of the reasons I don't work in the private sector!  That and the fact that I get to be involved in crazy cases like Casey Anthony and the FAMU hazing stuff and get to ride in helicopters and go on search warrants AND practice law

WHAT!?! Well shoot...with people like Casey Anthony, I can feel pretty good about where I sit on your priority list with my petty crimes. Smile

Now to google how to make chloroform, you know, out of curiosity.

You hit that button yet? (Oh yeah, i can be the bolshy one now, cos i HTFU and hit my button)

Smile

You like minamilist right?

Suit. Bike. Helmet. Shoes.  GO.

Too true... and shades and goggles

It's quite easy to make.  try not to gas yourself before your race.  that would be bad.

So it's not one of those naked ones?

I wish. It's really difficult to be minimalist in a triathlon. There are just so many sports

You're probably not the only one thinking that with some of the clientele we have here as Manatees.

rrrunner - 2012-07-20 3:27 PM Kirk, glad you're here. HELP? Anyone? Anyone?

By smaller do you mean a compact crank?  Do you have already have a compact crank on the front?  What is the cassette on the back (you can count the teeth if you don't know)?
