Tracy,  I looked up some of the stories on the axe carrying hippie and was really awestruck.  I am sure he's attempting to live out some weird kind of dream life but I can't think he's particularly stable.  I saw 2 interviews with him and both of them seem laced with some mental impairment.  And you can keep him on your side of the country.

To the snow bounders,  No offense but I'm glad you're getting it and not me!  Warren, I know you are enjoying it and I would likely feel the same if I weren't trying to train for Boston.  I have enough trouble getting my long runs completed with some of the flooding we've had  on a couple of trails I have to use for my long runs.  I actually like shoveling snow!  Lis considers me mentally unstable because of this but I think it's good work.  We've never had a snow blower because I enjoy getting out and doing it myself most of the time.

Jo,  I am glad to hear your husband and weren't hurt in the car accidents.  It would have been horrible trying to get back home from the east coast right now had anything happened to him.  Enjoy your time with Mr. Bon Jovi too!  I have to say that I don't think I would travel across the country to see anyone person in concert, especially if I had seen them as many times as you have seen him.

Jonathan,  I can definitely see you trying to get to work in a blizzard!  Of course my circumstances are different for work than yours but I would only have went out if I absolutely had too, and in my line of work that happens more than I like sometimes.  We've faced some challenging weather in my 25 years of line work.  But I have to ask;  why did they require you to go to work today?

Tony,  you get the Junkie of the week award for shoveling snow for hours so you can get your long run in!  That's awesome!  I have been called all kinds of things for getting my WO's in, but I fell confident I would have shoveled snow to make a path to run on.  BUT, I would have tried to run outside in the blizzard!

Same here Tony.  I am 6'3" tall and the snow bank is so high I can't see the first floor windows from the street.

Along those lines, I know I have said that my elbows have been bothering me, well after clearing all the snow they are just aching like mad.  I am supposed to get on the trainer, but I'm going to take some ibuprofen and drink beer.  I think that will solve this problem.

Warren, my buddy and I are going hiking tomorrow morning at Castle in the Clouds.  I know it's last minute, but if you want to get some snowshoeing in, let me know.

I think you need to go back and review Tony's post about shoveling snow for hours to get his long run in today before you completely ditch the idea of a ride.  Are you man or mouse?

However, I will support the beer idea.  I am going to have a beer or two tonight myself.  My nephew is here for his Guard drill weekend and he and I always have a beer together.

Dirk I appreciate the kudos but I didn't get much of a long run in today. I was determined to run and I did but I only got 3 miles in. I did get to run on the path I dug out but the footing was tough and I had to take it a lot slower than I thought I would. I mean I was running 13 to 14 mile minutes. My back and left arm are so sore from all the shoveling and cleanup we had to do it I figured I better call it quits after the 3 miles so I'd have a chance to do the long trainer ride tomorrow. I probably could have walked faster at the end of the run to be honest.

I also would have liked to have run last night but the problem I had here was we got a lot of freezing rain and sleet. The snow actually started a lot later for us. We probably got somewhere between 10 and 12 inches which was nothing compared to what a lot of other places on Long Island got here in Suffolk County. The bad thing about this snow was the 6 inches at the top were powered which was easy to shovel but that bottom layer of 3 or 4 inches was ice. My car and van were encased in that stuff and the bottom layer of the driveway was covered in that as well. It just made cleanup longer and more difficult than it needed to be but I have to say I got a great workout today and even though I did not get to run as long as I wanted to I did get out there for a short one and I enjoyed it.

I am now doing exactly what Jonathan is doing self medicating with a few beers and hoping I feel good enough to get my long trainer ride in tomorrow.

Tony or (anyone that understands the cycling program)I have a question on the bike plan and was wondering if you could explain. The wo coming up this week states,

5x4' (60" Rest@ 65-70% FT) @ 20MP

what does the 20MP stand for? I assume MP means max power but not really sure.

Matt that is correct, it is your max power from your 20 minute test. All I can say is those 20 MP workouts are the hardest ones I have done in the program.

never mind figured it out, average power for the 20 minute test! Why wouldn't they just write 100%? Or am I missing something! Maybe it's the yuengling!

hope all you from the northeast are enjoying all of the snow! Looks like a lot of work to dig out! And Jonathan I would of kept my happy a@@ at home and would not of even ventured out, definitely deserve a bonus. I have a run scheduled tomorrow and the estimated temp will be 44!

I went on a super windy bike ride today.  My foot is sore but not too bad.  I think I'm ready to start adding some hills back into my bike rides.  I know I'll be slower because of my foot but it's ready for some inclines.  Today's wind proved it to me that it is healing.

Just for the record.....I live in an area with a bunch of weirdos.

First, a couple of transients with pet yaks are parading around town.  About a year ago, they were squatting in a vacant house near my aunt's house with their yaks and goats.  I thought they were gone.  Nope!  They're back.  Not sure where they are living but they are taking their yaks for walks in front of the gym.  Yep!  I'm sure there are some laws that are being violated.

Have you seen that video of the axe-wielding hippie?  Yep....he's from here, too.

Good gawd!  I'm an openminded individual, however, this is a bit much.

so I had to look up the axe weilding hippie...Oh My! Someone spent a little too much time in the smoke shack, and combine that with a dread-head walking "yaks" around town who prefer to be squatters? May want to look for a good realtor,

I'm not going to say how beautiful the weather has been down here.... okay, maybe I will. Yesterday, it was 65 and breezy.... perfect weather to train all day long in. I took my kiddos to the playground, then we went to the YMCA and I did a short swim, then met some buddies for a 3 mile run. After that, I took my kiddos to grandma's house and met up with some other friends for an afternoon session of mountain biking. My legs felt amazing while mountain biking, stronger than they have felt in months, which is a welcome change to all training I have been fighting through the last several weeks.

The trainer awaits me today for a 90 minute session... maybe.

Just a quick check in, hope all the Northern folks are doing good thru the snow.  i think ya'll are supposed to get more tomorrow, maybe after that it will clear up.

It is funny how ya'lls dogs like the snow.  We took out dauschund (sp) to NC for our family to go snowskiing (well i actually didn't ski, but tried) and when he jumped out of the car and landed on the ice and snow, he started yelping like he had broken his leg.  Well i guess if my wiener was on ice and snow I'd be yelping too...  our southern dog didn't like the cold...lol and his leg was not broken, he just wanted to be picked up and carried inside.

Well I'm finally well.  I did get a 2 mile run in yesterday and a short trainer ride (spinerval up an arizona mountain - no I didn't make it very far).  I have to leave for work today and will be gone until Fri night so ya'll we have a break from me.  I will have to miss my son's very first 2 highschool baseball games...it is KILLING me.

Ya'll take care and train hard.

Tracy: I will have to take some time to read up on your neighbors when I get home good to hear the foot is feeling better.

Jonathon: x2 on why you were required to go into work.

Karl: you are too funny I am picturing your dog being surprised by the snow

Tony: way to get out their and try to get your run in!! Good luck on your ride today.

Sam: I haven't been able to upload my workouts since we have been away but before Thursday I hadnt had any problems

We went to the gym again yesterday for a cycle class it was pretty good the bikes they have show wattage so that was interesting We had to run after that and my daughter came with me she is a really good runner, she hasn't run in forever and she goes out and does 9 min miles like its nothing I told her she needed to sloooooow down for me but she was like... Come on you can do it...... You got this .... I think I need to run with her more often! Anyway when we turned around the wind was crazy, cold but we made it. I have another run today hopefully she will go with she needs to start the HM training but she doesn't get the whole training program thing because she can just go out and run and the miles do not matter she will just do it. I didn't think to talk with her about injuries until just now. Although she has never had anything that I can remember from running the way she does.

More or less to make sure there was nothing major going on and to pay people.  I was only there for the morning.  Took me a couple hours yesterday to clean us out.

I'm heading out the door in 5 to go snowshoeing!  Have a great day everyone!

I'm not going to say how beautiful the weather has been down here....

Some of the people in the northeast aren't so displeased by all of the snow.  I know Warren is enjoying it with his kids and watching his dog flail about in the snow.  I know this because I spoke to him yesterday! It sounded much like he and his family, except for his wife in Aruba, were enjoying the snowboundness.  It does sound like a great time to be able to romp around and play with kids and see things many of us don't see very often.

This was the first time I have actually spoken with any of the Junkies (other than Will) outside of what I will call local Junkies.  I have met Matt and raced with him a few times.  I asked Warren to give me a shout so we could discuss my family's plans for Boston and Warren and Jonathan live a hop, skip and jump from Boston.  Lis and I can now relax a bit before we head out that way knowing that there are some things that will be made so much easier having a friend to be able lead us around.

The next time I arrange a phone call I'll have to try to set it up a little more in advance and maybe try to get a 3 way call with Jonathan so we can all develop a plan.  (I knew Jonathan was supposed to work yesterday.)

BTW Warren, Lis and I kept looking for some other places to stay with your suggestions.  It looks like we are going to stay in North Andover at a Homewood Suites.  It will have 2 separate bedrooms and 2 separate bathrooms and, as you know, the bathrooms will be very important with 4 women traveling with me.  AND, we will be saving a large amount of cash to boot!  When we spoke on the phone we planned to stay in Medford for about $500 for 2 nights.  In North Andover we would save $250 and only have a 30 minute drive toward Boston.

BUT, there could be another change coming.  Lis is checking into getting Friday off and us taking the girls out of school/college for one more day and making the entire trip on Friday.  If we do that, we'll stay in North Andover from late Friday night until Monday morning.  This plan would allow me a little more time to kind of relax, tour and run a bit more without having to feel rushed the entire time.

The trip home would still be split as we discussed on the phone.  I will not be doing the 12-13 hour drive after a full marathon!!  If I did that I would have to be removed from the car like a piece of plywood.

I'm definitely jealous hearing about that weather. We're stuck in the windy 40's here. Nice job getting in all that training. Now tear up that trainer today!

It's not uncommon for me to have random bouts of delays logging WO's or even getting to different pages.  I think it's BT's server not working well.

Well Cap'n I think I found the problem on not losing weight! I gO for my Sunday long run and finished at 10.5 miles, a little shorter than the 11 planned but I forgot to do an extra loop and didn't have the desire to run past my truck again! Anyway I get home and find a box full of donuts, even had the Carmel cream and walnut ones! These things are like kryptonite I just had to have one! So all the calories I burned where put right back in! Oh well it tasted good!

Okay!  I confess too!  I couldn't pass up some ice cream last night.  I had a Reese Cup Blizzard last night.  Maybe we can share in our fattening misery Matt.

I am so ready for a recovery week.  My legs fee like absolute trash!!!  The added miles running and a 3 hour ride yesterday and my legs are barely functional.  I planned a brick today and it ended up being a reverse brick.  I was getting ready to get on the bike for an hour and Lis was asleep on the couch.  (She hasn't been sleeping well for a while because of her shoulder and this morning she began throwing up.)  There was no way I was going to get on the trainer with her lying there asleep, so I switched the bike and run around.

Then as I was about to step out the door I looked at Lis and she was awake.  Well, I was already dressed and stretched so Off I went.  I came back from my 4 mile run and got on the trainer right away.  My legs would barely tolerate the spinning ride I decided I would start this week off with.  They were burning from the time I started the WU all the way through the MS.  By the time I got to the CD they relented a little bit but I was ready to be off the bike.

I am very, very ready for some recovery time!!!
