No more surprises until they are both done college and married, please BrianRunsPhilly - 2013-04-19 9:55 PM Left Brain - 2013-04-19 10:48 PM Nicely put. I took this picture last night at the Philly solidarity run for Boston. City Hall to the Constitution Center/Liberty Bell. Check out what's written on the sign at the National Jewish History Museum. Seems appropriate. mad-dog - 2013-04-19 9:02 PM Thanks Bolt. Just so angry and sad. I have 3 young children that are growing up in a time when there is so much evil going on. Yes, I agree, We could be living this daily, as in, Isreal. Dude......we would fight next to each other, believe it.....as would most here, in a time when our way of life is in jeopardy......it is not. My young children are growing up in the same times as yours.....and they are arguably the greatest of times. What you saw this week is no accident.....even Obama got it right, we will not be terrorized. Don't hate, your kids are watching....just raise them with the same values you were raised with.....those values are built on a solid foundation. Nowhere in our most sacred documents is hatred mentioned as a principle of our Country. Brian - I've enjoyed your posts this week....really good stuff. Oh......the stories you will be able to tell your Grandkids.....don't miss it! ![]() |

And no I am not on "their" side - I just find it sad.... people are very easily influence at a young age.... which is why the religious right has been trying to get the church in classrooms. their version? you mean scientific theory, facts? if you truly believed your religion was factual you would encourage critical thinking along with scientific theory and discovery, as they would only in the end prove you right. alas that isn't the case at all. /thread derailment. As opposed to them only hearing one side in the classroom? Seems a little close minded to the very thing you're encouraging. Sorry, I couldn't just let that sit out there. End of my involvement on that topic in this thread. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() To continue with a little levity. Apparently the room mate/friend of one of the bombers has this license plate on her car. Probably seemed like a good idea at the time, but now she's one of the three that's being held in custody and investigated. Obviously I have no clue if she's involved or not, but I'm thinking this plate isn't helping her cause.
Here's a link to the whole story: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2312123/Boston-latest-Terrorista-1-license-plate-friends-Boston-bomber-arrested-female.html |

Another thought I had was how hard it would be to be one of the doctors or nurses who have to provide care for the captive. The license plate is not so funny right about now. |

Agreed. ...and there's a likely a hotter special place due south of there for people who urinate on enemy corpses. I just read the older brother had apparently shouted at an imam in a Cambridge mosque about 3 months ago. He was kicked out of the prayer service that day, apparently for being upset the imam held up MLK as a person to emulate. I just wish folks at the mosque could have intervened somehow. Then again, I can imagine myself in a church seeing some big jerk do something similar...and I doubt I'd intervene. Ugh.

That's the thing. At what point do you know someone is just saying things versus when they'll do something. If we locked up everyone who says something incendiary, what good is the first amendment? I don't think the solution is to lock up every Muslim, Christian, Atheist who says something nasty about our country. Lutherans on the other hand... |

Also, just for the record, I don't think the young man was kicked out of the mosque but the members spoke with him and calmed him down. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() One of the stories I read/heard said the police were handcuffing older brother when younger brother ran over him. I haven't seen much of anything else on this - did older brother die from being run over? It made me wonder a few things if so - if that was part of the plan/directive so younger brother could get away - and how much more criminal intent younger brother had as opposed to being influenced by his older brother many folks seem to want to believe. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() From what I've heard from the local press, the older brother was alive (though injured) and about to be apprehended when the younger brother jumped into the car-jacked SUV and tried to run over the police, but instead hit his brother, and dragged him under the car for a bit, then took off. Apparently, the injuries from being hit was what killed him. |

It made me wonder a few things if so - if that was part of the plan/directive so younger brother could get away - and how much more criminal intent younger brother had as opposed to being influenced by his older brother many folks seem to want to believe. According to the Chief of Watertown PD..... During the gunfight in Watertown, after about 10 minutes....#1 got out of cover and was approaching a Sgt, firing his weapon, when he ran out of ammo. The sgt, TACKLED him before #1 could reload. Two other officers assisted in trying to handcuff #1. Meanwhile, #2 got in the SUV and tried to run over the 3 officers. The officers dove out of the way, barely, yet #2 ran over #1. Dragging him for about 30 feet. The speculation is this is what killed #1 (he was still alive being handcuffed) as #2 was just trying to get away. Edited by ratherbesnowboarding 2013-04-22 10:41 AM |
