ChrisM - 2009-04-20 1:16 PM So, is it time to start the meaningless weather forecast part of the thread?  All i can say is I hope the heat gods get it out of their system in the next few days....

I have to admit, I'm hoping for heat!

BTW, I'll be at Redondo Vista H with the GGTC.

What...so you can end up in the med tent Saturday and get out of this insane plan of yours to also race Sunday?

Logistical Question! We are coming down from the north. Meeting a friend from the south. I bought the campsite w/ festival tix. If two cars go in do you have to pay for a whole new campsite or is there a cost for an additional car? Don't know if we can fit his bike in one car. Is there in n out privileges. Can we go in and drop off our stuff and then go back and get his bike if we were to park 20-30 minutes away? Any help on figuring this out would be great.

One pass, one car.   Park outside the park somewhere (no idea where but you'll find something) and transfer his stuff into your car.  Yes, you can go in and out.

Anyone have any thoughts about leaving an old pair of shoes near the exit from the swim? I hear the run to the transition area is some distance on bare feet!

It's not the distance, it's the surface.  But meh, I've never done it in 3 races.  Yeah, it's a little uncomfortable, but honestly can't say I've ever seen anyone do that, altho I am sure someone has.  Your feet will be pretty numb anyway

Dos Equis green

Salt tabs.  I tend to think they help.  I use Infinit with a lot of sodium, but will also use salt tabs on the run. It can get hot back in there.  I also remember that they had 4X sodium (or whatever) gels, but not sure we can count on those.

You will see a LOT of people cramping at wildflower

ChrisM - 2009-04-15 1:13 PM Honestly Tim the large majority of people roll in Friday lunch-ish.  It's not until late in the day Friday that people start ending up on the side of the road.....   We're also loeaving, probably 5:30-6 Friday, get there a little before lunch.

A good option is to stop in Paso at Subway or wherever and bring in lunch, takes the edge off setting up al the cr@p

Damn... i just noticed this..... Todd.... not Tim.... sorry

I was trying to remember... I think technically they close transition at whatever time.  But no one enforces it, as far as I can recall.

Please wave as you pass

Light Purple caps....and a 9:25 start!!!  Great.....I'm the wave they base all of the course closure times on. Well, at least if I pass anyone, it's a real pass!!  My husband/son relay team starts 5 minutes later, but my son will probably beat me out of the lake by 15 minutes!

I think we'll be in Redonda Vista also, with TRIbe group.  They'll get there earlier, we're limited by how early we can pull the boys from school.   We're in a blue Sequoia w/swim, water polo, and USAT stickers, and a 'watrmom' license plate.

The back-to-back races boggle my mind - hats off!

Question on the salt tabs - do you take them during the bike to help with run cramping?  Today was my first run in heat, and it was brutal.  Looking for all the help I can get!

Hmm...if I pass, it won't be 'til late in the run...you should pile up a pretty big cushion on both the swim and bike.

I'm the contrarian today...I want a pink cap (white would be so *yawn*) since I don't have one yet...maybe it will match my evening gown and wig.  And whatever cap color I receive, I'll likely end up with 2 of the same color!

Bay Area has had a nice little heat wave. Good for training for possible heat at Wildflower. 10 day forecast for Friday, the night before in Paso Robles is 76. Will let us know tomorrow what the expected weather will be on Saturday! I'm wearing all black and I'm not made for the heat (100% Irish). The heat will be my enemy...

Also a friend of mine emailed Tricalifornia about our issue yesterday:

No in and out  - once in the park.

Every vehicle entering the park has to have a camping pass if staying
overnight.  The pass is per vehicle.  So, it saves you money to come
together in one vehicle with a pass.

If needed, you can purchase additional passes at the gate - $70 per night.

Hi!  We are a group coming in for the Wildflower event and have purchased
one camping pass for the event.  We have a friend who wants to join us
there.  Does he have to get in our car before we drive into the gates to
avoid paying for another camping spot even if he will be staying in our
tent?  Also, are there in and out privileges at the event?  Can you drive
in, back out, and drive in again?

Thanks!

No in and out surprises me.   Are they saying is you show up on Wednesday, as some people do, you cannot leave the park - to go get groceries in Paso, or drive the course - until you leave?   I find that highly questionable.
