My first tri is this weekend... any tips to make it a success? My goal is to have tons of fun and to pace myself well throughout. This weekend will be a learning experience, that's for sure.

Good luck! you have the right attitude! I agree with all the advice everyone else gave you, so I will just say HAVE FUN!! Looking foward to hearing all about it!

Amy- good luck on your race this weekend!

I have some silly questions that are not tri related. I always have trouble figuring out the boards. How do I quote, and add my part and make it different? How do I add a picture to my name?

How long should I expect muscle soreness to last? Usually after a few days I am fine. My neck and shoulder started hurting during my 80 mile ride Sat and are still sore. I tried to ride today and it started buring about 14 miles in. I quit at 27 miles. I have a 100 mile ride scheduled this weekend and I am hoping to be able to do that.

Have you made any recent changes to your position on the bike?

So I trained tonight, probably for the last time before Wildflower.  Had a great 2.8 mile treadmill run, and I concentrated on maintaining a high cadence.  My knee felt good.  After the run I went swimming, and for some reason I had zero swim mojo.  Oh well.  Wildflower, here I come!!!

Personally, I never have any swim mojo

Great news about the knee.  Wildflower doesn't have a chance!

froglegs, not to worry.... i find that if my legs are shot to hell then my swim suffers because i can't get enough leg kick to keep them elevated (i.e., the legs are dropped causing serious drag on the swim).

on race day you'll have fresh legs and a wetsuit so you'll swim like a mojo fish.

good luck and kick butt... but mostly, have fun.

Mine's pretty obvious.  I'm an engineer by degree and a nerd by nature.  My avatar is a race photo from my latest race, the Big Sur Marathon and I'm wearing my Team Zoot/Gu uniform and my trademark day-glo cap.

My name goes a way back to when I was in high school.  I'm a big biology/nature lover and when I'd be with my friends surfing I'd tell them all about the stuff we'd be seeing around us when we were in the lineup or on the beach.  We all had nicknames, and mine ended up being "dorkboy".

My avatar is the logo for the Arizona Diamondbacks.  They currently have the best record in baseball, by the way!

My name is an unimaginative abbreviation of my first and last names.

My avatar is something I scribbled out in Photoshop one day while describing a tumble on a MTB ride the prior weekend...I was just riding along and this rock appeared from out of nowhere...

Go weekend racers!

Name is a combo of two competitive swimming camps.  Chikopi - boys, Akomak - girls, in Ahmic Harbor, Ontario.  Went to Akomak.  boys and girls camps were across the lake - occasionally someone would grad a kayak or canoe and sneak to the other side

Avatar is peep for being on a losing team in the march bike challenge - waiting to change it for April results on Saturday - hopefully my new avatar will be a drawing my son did, if our team lost it'll be a pansie of some sort...

My username is from a colt I raised from birth to about 3 months.  Rowdy belonged to a man I worked for and was a very cool little guy.

Another cool guy is the grey horse in my avatar.  That's me and Bailey on our last cross country outing.  He carted my butt around many cross country courses and is enjoying a well-earned retirement.

Aw thanks, Karen. I always thought that the peep in your avatar was some kind of fruity garnish for the drink! i see it very clearly now.

My screen name is my initials... which means my middle name, not my first name, is James. I blame my parents.

My avatar is a photo from the Presidio 10 mile race last month.

Okay, you all, have a great weekend. I'm hitting the road soon for some fun in the sun, and camping at the lake. Everything's packed, including the beer.... tyep to you on Sunday night or Monday.

Cheers!

Thanks for wishing me luck everyone! I am doing the OSU sprint triathlon at Ohio State Univerity this Sunday.
My username is a combination of my first name and last name, followed by the random numbers "1234". It is very creative.
I couldn't figure out how to get an avatar. My computer woun't let me have one because all my pictures that I wanted in the avatar are too big (even when I post them into Word and make them smaller) so I don't have an avatar.

So far no picture for me because mine are too big, and I just don't know how to fix it. I will come up with something!
My name started several years ago on a ww board when I wanted something besides my name for our challenges. I ended up getting andemail with it for that challenge. I kept switching my personal email account and then the name was hard to memorize so I started using this one more and more. Now it has just stuck.
