Morning run done at -8 today, damn this winter is coming fast around here ...

I was wondering how do you guys count the points exactly? Do you take the weather when you start or when you finish or an average. Just want to make sure

Well on my sunday run it was 1 degree C for the duration. Light winds for the duration. But it only snowed for 100 minutes of my 150 or so minute run. So I did 1.5 * 150 for the temp and weather and 100 X 1 for the snow. So I think you have to break it up. At least that would be my vote, but I am easy.

I finally have crappy points! Yay! And it was a gorgeous run, wish I could have gone much longer (lunch date got in the way). A nice easy jog out and a good solid run back in about 22 degrees, light snow, and some wind. Just gotta remember to put lotion on my face to combat the wind/cold burn.

Welcome to the madness, Robert! With only one run under my belt and a short one at that, I'd go with BigDH's formula, without getting too uppity about it. I think any ups and downs will even out over the whole winter, as long as someone isn't always over- or under-estimating. The winds on my run were very inconsistent (I run in the mountains, so it was a matter of coming into and out of it). They were about 10-15ish for about half my run, so I called it 5ish for the whole run and figured that was good enough.

Morning run done, 19 with 12 mph wind. I love my country ...

I am still getting back from an injurie and I am still on a run/walk program. It's way colder when you walk almost half the time, believe me

Hello Winter Peeps! Got some points with a chilly run...24 degrees with a wind. Funny thing is in January this will be such a warm day here I would probably do that run in a t-shirt! Its all a matter of getting acclimatized.

Not sure I like all this cold weather so early. Saturday mornings run the temp is supposed to be in the single digits. It is making for a lot of points though.

The week end weather's around here looks crapy for sure, that should be good for the points.

BTW I downloaded a addon for SportTracks, it's named GPS2PowerTrack, if anyone here use that and has a 305 or any GPS tracker for running/cycling that addon is great. It gathers the weather for the area where you are working out and gives you an average of the weather and the wind for the duration of the workout. The addon uses wunderground.com to gather the informations BTW.

I used it to recalculate my points so now I am sure I got the right one

Also I took the spreadsheet that was posted here and modified it so it now uses km/h and celcius for us Canadian. If anyone wants it let me know and I will post it here. I also added a second line everyday in case you run and ride or run twice the same day.

Have a great day everyone

Hmmm, maybe I should go for a little ride. Its currently 14 degrees with a 12mph wind, making it feel like its zero! On second thought I'm going to the pool.

Well I sure did just make up for all the crappy non-crappy weather earlier! Did a run on Friday and was feeling pretty pleased with my 200 points, when I remembered that we're counting hiking, too. See my blog for the account of my day, but it was awesome, exhiliarating, and FRIGID!!! Record low high temps, with some SERIOUS wind. I was above treeline for awhile, and even when technically below treeline, was very exposed. Craziness! It was a lot of fun, made more fun by the passage of time and warmth.

Man, I cannot wait to get some hiking and snowshoeing in, that sure will help with the points. I did manage an am run at -3 C but not wind and no snow.

Have a good up coming week everyone!

Okay, so here I am all happy that it is finally less than 35 and I can get some points and you all just have to rub it in about the snow and wind.  Blowing snow envy is not a pretty sight.  Unfortunately it's supposed to be warm and raining for the next few days- YUCK.  I might need to drive my daughter back to Burlington at the end of the week and run there for some points.  If you ask me 45 and rain is really crappy!

ROTFLMAO!!!

Very true. I think cold rain is way worse than snow. It got so cold so fast here that the snow has been super dry. Unfortunately, we had so much rain that the ditches are full of water and the ground is saturated, which does NOT bode well for a good January thaw or spring. The only reason we escaped last spring without horrendous flooding after record snowfall was because we went into the fall with a dry ground, so it was primed and ready to absorb all the snowmelt. I'm already worrying about April!

Had a beautiful run today. Very still and quiet, and practically roasting at about 33-34 degrees. Hee hee, I love acclimation... Didn't mind getting that few points, I gotta say.

Rain, rain, rain, rain, rain - it should ALL BE SNOW!!! ARGH! Not sure if it'll be cold enough to get crappy points, but I'm running as soon as I get home hoping to get under that 35 threshold (and because I have other stuff to do ).

Hope everyone has an awesome - and safe - TG!
