Veteran 165 Aylmer, Qc | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC Hey Team!!! Sorry if I neglected the thread over the last few days. Things were a bit crazy over here with work and family. But the important thing is that I am keeping rolling and all is good. Reached the half-way point today and just on the ball with my goals. I even went out for a ride at lunch time today, because I am worried of the mileage I will be able to pill on next week because of several obligations. My riding time will be quite limited to only early morning rides. So today/tomorrow and Friday I should be able to log close to 90k a day, which will help a lot for next week. And yes, I need to go update my results in the team spreadsheet Patricia! Forgot about that!!! Tour wise, I msut say this as been a boring week thus far. We all know the fireworks will start on Friday in the Alps, but plleeeaaassseeee can we get there??? At least Cav is kicking butt and giving a clinic to all! Keep rollin' team! |

Expert 602 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC Picture and recap time - Recap - Stage 11 - Vatan to Saint-Fargeau, 192km, July 15 Columbia-HTC's Mark Cavendish powered to a fourth stage win in the 2009 TdF on Wednesday, a victory that allowed the British rider to regain the overall lead in the points jersey competition. With his trusty leadout train of George Hincapie and then Mark Renshaw setting him up at the front of the peloton, Cavendish jumped on the uphill sprint finish of stage 11 to take the win ahead of Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Slipstream) and Thor Hushovd (Cervélo TestTeam). This means our team now has both the green and white jerseys again, Yeah! Mark Cavendish of Britain, center, is congratulated with his fourth stage victory by his teammates after the Stage 11 of the 2009 TdF on Wednesday July 15, 2009. We all know the fireworks will start on Friday in the Alps, but plleeeaaassseeee can we get there??? At least Cav is kicking butt and giving a clinic to all! Keep rollin' team! How can you say that? Cav can become the best sprinter in the history of the sport, if he continues to improve and keeps this up. We're watching history in the making! I get goosebumps watching the Columbia - HTC train leads him out and he sprints like nobody I've ever seen. 82% success rate, I hear, that's not boring, that's simply amazing! GO COLUMBIA-HTC! Veteran 165 Aylmer, Qc | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC Yesterday was awesome... And quite tactical. If anyone watched the final K of the sprint, my man George H did a classic blocking move that many might not have noticed. When he pull out of the Columbia train he did a perfect fade out to force T. Farrar to get a bit out of his line. Did that make a difference? In my book it did. Farrar had to go a bit wide, therefore a few extra meters. That small extra effort might have done the difference down the wire. All I can say is this, we will see some classic Cavendish/Farrar clashes in the future. Which is great news. I won't comment on Hushvold who went out way too early. But then again, he must be getting pretty tired of staring at Cav's back (not to say something else! ) I am sure the other sprinters would like to have a lead out man like Renshaw. That guy would be top sprinter in almost all the other teams. That's the Columbia punch. Cav sometimes as 2 (even 3 guys) still pulling him with 500M to go. He's the only one with that edge in the peloton. ---- Log another lunch time extra ride today. Time was tight, so I did the only thing I could: go HARD!! My legs are starting to get trashed with the work of yesterday and today, but I will pump some more out them again later this afternoon! Let's go team, half of the TdF is already in the books! |

He he he... Cav is awesome and I am jumping up and down in my office everytime I see the final K approach with the HTC train pumping!!! This week as a whole, for the Tour, as been very boring. Astana is king of the peloton, and working with AG2R to keep things at hand. Sastre, Evans, Menchov are already out of the picture so all those teams are now just rolling along. The organizers did everything they could to get the suspense going up to Ventoux on the last Saturday. That's where the Astana showdown might occur, unless something out of the ordinary happens in the Alps, and that just might happen. The first week was great. And next week will also be awesome with the ITT, Alps, Ventoux, and hopefully a sprint showdown on the Champs Elysees. |

Veteran 165 Aylmer, Qc | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC Anything goes in the end. And one thing to remember, there is NO LOVE between Garmin and Columbia. Actually, don't be surprise to see some similar tactics AGAINST Columbia soon, most likely in Paris. Trying to block the Columbia train will probably be the next best thing. But... other teams will need enough horses up there, and that's another story! If Garmin had a similar train, and an experienced road captain like Hincapie, they would do the same... And here's a classic Cav story: http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/cavendish-defends-against-charge-of... |

Expert 602 Ontario, Canada | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC Recap - Stage 12 – Tonnerre to Vittel, 211.5km, July 16 Saxo Bank's Nicki Sorensen emerged from a seven-man break to take a classic solo win on a perfect summer day in France Thursday. There is no change in the GC favorites, and Columbia-HTC’s Tony Martin and Mark Cavendish retain the white and green jersey respectively. Cadel Evans and Levi Leipheimer each got tangled in crashes during the run-in and rolled in about two minutes after the pack, but were given the same time, thanks to the three-kilometer rule. Canal plus: the peloton heads through yet more picturesque terrain on the 211.5km ride from Tonnerre to Vittelge |

Veteran 165 Aylmer, Qc | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC What a great stage yesterday! I was cheering for Sorenson big time. It was gutsy as hell. And when he took with 20K to go, it was obvious B. Riis had decided he had the legs to win. But... it will be interesting to see the side effects for him. He is your typical team workhorse. He is there for Sastre in the Alps. Anyone thinks he will still have the legs? --- My legs "felt it" this morning after two days of huge work (180 TSS per day - for the WKO geeks). Keeping things more relax today, and with rest day number 2 tomorrow. After that, it's the home stretch. I did the math and will need about 40k a day. I wanted that cushion since my training time will be limited next week (early morning only). I might be able to squeeze one long ride in there. --- Keep it team, and update your stats in the spreadsheet. |

Master 1632 Almost Canada, WA | Subject: RE: Columbia - HTC Hey Gang! I am so very happy to say that I am finally back in action!! I'm still not 100% but at least I can start training again. I will be PMing Cat (unless you're reading this....)to be sure my 9 (verrrrry loooooooong days) that I was out of commission will be figured in. Does anyone know if there is anything else I need to do to ensure this doesn't affect us as a team? I have a race coming up next weekend that I wasn't sure I was going to do (in light of my foot and sickness misfortunes) but since it's my first Oly ever, I decided that short of me dying I am going to do it but have really lowered my expectations (like from a time goal to now I just want to finish without falling over!!) I HAVE been totally staying up on the Tour and even have my hubby now addicted. He comes home from work telling me about his conversations with his buds at work...mind you this is the same man who questioned ME about getting into it for the first time this year! |

IMHO, everyone is racing for 3rd place, Lance and Contador will race against each other for the win. Probably boils down to last TT, s/b exciting. You know what I can't understand? If you don't have a team, can't you just tuck behind Astana's or some other and wait for the opportune moment to attack / just keep up with the other GC contenders? bryank14 - 2009-07-17 1:21 PM Keep it up team, and update your stats in the spreadsheet x2 Edited by patricia7 2009-07-18 8:50 AM |
