I started P90X on Sunday, doing the classic, did plyo this morning. OUCH. I really feel I need to work on my core strength so I have decided to take a month off of R/B/S and gradually work it back in at day 30. I obviously need to do strength training because I am SORE.

Begining week four and have noticed a significant loss in bodyfat, thanks Brian for the advice in Omega 3's! To me its been a refreshing off season doing P90x, as opposed to swimming outside when its in the mid to low 40's.
I have recovery week now and then I up my carbs and reduce my protien for phase 2. I'm still on the lean program and I hope the extra carbs amp up my workouts and cardio. It seems I have had a 20-25% strength increase across the board on all exercises, but am still having trouble with prison push ups and bridge to Chatarunga and most of Abripper x.  I will take my pictures next Sunday to compare my before and 30 day pictures. Very happy with my progress so far, I think I can credit my strict diet for allot.

Aw man! I wasn't until today, Im clearly starting to see defination in my abs, but Ive gained almost 1.5 lbs since last week according to the scale this morning. I guess it could be water, Im following the lean program so I cant be putting on that much muscle, I am not going lower than 15 reps on any sets and following my diet strictly. This is confusing me, I will stay on my game plan until the end so I dont spin my wheels, I know I should focus more on my month to month results instead, thing is I dont want to gain any weight at all. I know they say P90x is not a weight loss program, so I will keep at it and hope for huge results in phase 2.
Im already starting to consider doing Insanity program after my next 60 days if I dont loose enough weight, or round 2 of P90x.

I actually gained 4 lbs while dropping 8-10% bodyfat.   I also stayed at the 15 rep;s  but I have a feeling it is more your back muscles that are gaining the most.  I definitely noticed a difference in my lats.

Nevergivin Congrats on the progress. Keep it up. I think I told you that I didn't lose an ounce my first 30 days but lost close to 4 inches. I have 10 pounds I would like to loose, but.....
Those Prison cell pushups are killer. There are also a few pushups in the chest and back and chest, tris and shoulders that get me too. AND the Dreya rolls!

Thanks for the warning, I havent done the Chest and back workout yet, only the Chest- Shoulders -Triceps. If I wasnt so busy trying to keep up I could probably remember some more of the names, for sure there is more I hate.

I am looking at getting P90X and have a question.

I understand that you need to drill holes into your doorframe for there pullup bar.

Does anyone know of a good bar to buy that you don't have to do that.

thanks!

You don't need to drill holes!!!  There are pull up bars like this:

http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_gear/p90x_gear/p90x_chin_up_bar.do

This is the beachbody version but you should be able to find something similar at any workout equipment place.  These things work amazingly well... you can even loop your bands around it and do the band pull ups.   That is what I do... superset the pullups then immediately pull out 10 band pull ups (YOUCH it feels good, haha).

But I highly recommend something like this.  It doesn't do anything bad to your door frame and it is very stable!

Great - I was going to get those but on Amazon the reviews said you need to drill holes into the door. Great news!

Thanks!

No drilling-Amazon Pullup bar-says out of stock, look at target or local sporting goods. These are extremely popular and convenient.

I use this kind and it works great.  HOWEVER,  It will mark and dent the door frame to which my wife takes a dim view...

For those of you keeping score at home, week 6 done.  Time to start week 7 in about 10 minutes.  Still getting in a little swimming biking and running, but I am thinking that when p90x is done my schedule will look mighty open for alot of training!

Hey everyone...after lurking around this thread I have finally took the plunge and started P90x.  Going into day 6 today (Kenpo x) and absolutely loving it.  Plyometrics kicked my butt leaving my hamstrings crying out for mercy and me almost unable to walk normally up the stairs!  I found Yoga pretty intense, especially the first section...crane for 1:00 anyone?  I am going to keep plodding away, keeping everyone informed and hopefully will gain strength because of it.  Going to try and swim twice a week and maybe spin once in addition to the P90x.  Thanks for all of your discussions as they have really helped convince me to try this.  Anybody willing, for those who have been through this already, to post their before/after photos?  Peace...

Kenpo is the "fun" day for sure.  I have my 0/30/60 day photos in my album.  Not sure why I never did 90,  but oh well.  Remember that I am an old guy and be nice if you look....P90X ROCKS!!!
