what is it about the bike that makes you think tha t you stink at it?

i just got my road bike back in May...and i about threw the darn thing over a bypass on my first ride.  i TOTALLY SUCKED.  but then little by little i figured it out, and NOW im not half bad...in fact the final tri of my season, the bike was my strongest leg.

who knew?

I just got a road bike as well.  Up until now I've been using my hybrid as the excuse for why I'm so slow.  Won't have that excuse next season.  I like to ride, even though I stink.  I just say hi to all the people passing me and enjoy the scenery.

DEBBIE.  i started out on a hybrid bike as well.  there are days/rides when i actually miss it.

what kinda of road bike did you get?

i got a Jamis Xenith Comp, thanks to a 'tip' by mr. wgraves who i will indebted to for life.  mwah!

he's on a 3 day/2 night school trip at an environmental center.

not the best of conditions to be outside studying nature.  poor thing.

he comes home tomorrow.

im sure he'll be pretty pooped out.

aspeelma - 2009-09-29 3:49 AM Hello all, I just got assigned to your team last night. I'm new to the challenges so go easy on me. I have a half marathon in January so I really need to get some miles in.

Welcome to the challenge!  You'll have fun!

Hey there, welcome! This is my first challenge too. Any chance your January race is the Carlsbad Half?

Welcome to both of you...but be warned Challenges are very addicting!

I thought BT was addicting enough and then I found the challenge forum.......

Hi everyone....I did ask for a chatty team....and BOY did I get it!

My name is Julie... I was a retired mtn biker, over 200 lbs...not telling you how much over 200#'s I was! and was a smoker when I found out in late 2007 that a family member had passed away in an ironman competition. After attending her funeral I vowed to do a triathlon in her honor...I went home tore up my cigarettes, and started training....I now am in my second season...(btw- I got a 3rd place medal in my first tri - hope Dorothy was proud of me! ) I raced my age group not even realizing I could have raced clydesdale...I have now lost over 50 lbs, quit smoking and I feel fabulous! I am competing in a HM this Sunday...not sure of my goals for this challenge yet....but will fill them in the spreadsheet by the first of the month.

Looks like we have a super strong team...I know many of you...Tammy, Bill, Katie, Stacie, Tracy, Kendra, Debbie and Lucy...and look forward to getting to know the rest of you! LETS GO TEAM! NOTHING BUT WINNERS HERE!

sounds like a nice evening Stacie!

my husband and I were going to go outside and sit at the fire pit but its soooo windy the neighbors tree just fell..just missing the fence between our homes...never mind on the outside pit will use my indoor fireplace.

the blanket sounds nice...I think I will instead need to wear some body armor - there are still a few other trees in my neighbors yard....and they are making some very ODD noises!

stay warm!
