Ran yesterday, 2.75 miles in 21:45 or so. Will either run today or take the day off. My a$s  is still hurting from my last bike ride. Do y'all stand on the pedals for a minute or so every once in a while? I wear tri-shorts and have a good saddle, what else can I do to reduce the discomfort? Feel free to link me to a website.

I had a horrible bike ride tonight, it was a struggle from the first minute.  I swear the equipment at the Y is just strange.  At any rate I did 35 minutes but couldn't take it, the pain in my quads and the people around me that sadly either a) did not shower or b) has a terrible gas problem.  At 35 minutes I called and wandered to the treadmills, thought I would walk at an incline for 25 minutes but NO, I tried two different treadmills and couldn't get either of them to work.

Tomorrow I'm working out with my trainer thankfully, she'll kick some life into me.  PLUS she showers..

PS - NO clue what to do about the  butt pain on the bike, it never seems to get better for me, that's for sure.

Hi Everyone,

Work stress and vacation stress have kept me from pretty much doing anything so far this week.  I am at least glad it is the offf-season because I would be in serious trouble if I had a race coming up.

Speaking of races, what's on everyone's calendar?  I am doing the CowTown Half marathon on 2-27 (which is my 17th anniversary).  After thatit is serious training for LoneStar HIM.

Leaving on Friday morning but will check in tomorrow!

Keep up the awesome work everyone!

Re: the soarness from the bike, I was in a lot of pain the first few rides this year since I had not been on my road bike since October. Like my husband says, you need to build your butt caluses back up (not a nice thought, but makes the point.) I also suggest trainig in bike shorts with more padding to start as opposed to the light to no padding the tri shorts offer. I personally LOVE LG bike shorts and they make a bib short for  men that my husband swears by. You can find them online easily.

I did morning spin class this morning with a new instructor and he was awesome. He had us do a TT this morning with our HR monitors and is going to send each of us our zones. He usually runs a clinic and charges, but he decided to do it for free for us! He is a trainer and many trainers take his spin class. I got the last bike in the class so I will get there earlier next time.

This afternoon I am feeling horrible, pretty queezy actually so going to go to bed right after I get my kids down at 8:00!

Marcy, have a great trip!

30 min run and 30 min swim today.  Run felt good and i pumped up the speed a little on the dreadmill.  Swam the longest i have ever swam today 1150 yards.  Think i am going to find a swim coach though to work on technique.

Races planned this year - Kentucky Derby Festival 1/2 marathon, TriShark Sprint Tri, Evergreen Sprint Tri, Warrior Dash in Chicago, Chicago RocknRoll 1/2 Marathon, TriIndy Olympic Distance

Ran 2.75mi in 21:20. Thats a solid schedule bulldog. Lots of marathon and tri action. Do you all have memberships in USAT? Is that something I should just go ahead and get?

HI everyone, wasn't feeling well at all yesterday so changed my session with my trainer from last night to Friday.  I am still a bit off this morning, very swollen glands.

Michelene I hope I get those butt calluses (sp?) soon cause wowsa my butt hurts on the bike.

Races this year, 5km in May, Try-a-tri in early June, then sprint Tri on July 24.  If that goes well I want to register for sprints in both August and September.

Have a great trip Marcy.

yep, I have a membership in USAT...you can buy daily passes through your race directors so it just depends on how many tris you are planning on doing whether the extra cost is worth it.

I bought a USAT membership, but that was because all my races this year are USAT and require membership or day pass. Last year I chose not to buy one since I only did one race that required it.

Race Schedule for me:
April 17 Showdown at Sundown Sprint Tri
May 2 Escape From Alcatraz (sort of Olympic)
July 31 Barb's Race 70.3 (All women 1/2 Ironman to support Cancer Charities)
Oct Nike Women's Half Marathon
October 9 Levi Leipheimer's Gran Fondo (although I am doing the 65 miler, not the 100)

Ran yesterday. The pool I swim at has free water polo every Friday evening, so I'm going to check that out. I figure it will be good cross-training. Will probably take tomorrow off due to hangover.

Got on the treadmill this morning hoping to run 5-6 miles but had to shut down on the treadmill after 30 minutes due to my shin splint in my left leg hurting so bad.  Moved to the elliptical machine for 30 minutes and ended up doing a total of 5.5 miles between both machines.   Going to skip the treadmill this week and only do the elliptical for my runs to hopefully heal up my shins.

Also, IT'S BEEN AWFULLY QUIET IN HERE LATELY...HOW'S EVERYONE DOING WITH THEIR TRAINING?

Lifted at the gym, then ran yesterday. Played water polo for the first time today. It was exhausting, I recommend it for anyone wanting to improve their swimming. I treaded water for probably 40 minutes of the 60 minute game. Also, it is very much a contact sport...

I hear ya bulldog! Where is everyone?

I rode 15 miles on the trainer today. I really hate that thing. I am ready for this rain to go away! Hoping to get an outdoor ride in this weekend. We will see if mother nature cooperates.

still nursing my shin splint on my left leg so no treadmill for me this week at all..did 4 miles on the elliptical this morning and even planning on doing my 7 mile "long run" on the elliptical this weekend...too long of a season and plenty of time before the 1/2 marathon to get hurt right now.  CAN'T WAIT (although 3-5 inches of snow here today) to get outside and run though, no shin splints outdoors, only on a treadmill.  C'mon mother nature, hurry up with Spring

Ran 3.7 miles outside today. The sun is shining and it is actually a little warm! Loving it! May sneak in a rest in the patio chair before I have to go get my kids in an hour...

SURE, rub it in.  We have about 2-3 inches of snow here in IL today and still coming down.

Well, it did not last. It is pouring rain today. I went for a swim this morning. Rain forcasted for the next week. I know I can't complain though, no snow here. I am not a snow girl, could never live in the snow.

60 minutes on the elliptical machine today resulted in 6.6 miles.  Hoping to get back to actual running again this week.
