Master 1792 | Subject: RE: Team 3 - June Challenge tri808 - 2010-06-05 10:05 PM might need to adjust my goals this month. Crashed on the bike today after running over a good sized branch (effectively it was like running over the barrel of a baseball bat) hammering 25 mph down a flat. Couldn't see it coming with the 2 riders in front of me narrowly missing it and went over the bars. Not sure how...but I only have some road rash on my left arm. My shoulder is completely fine, and didn't hit my head. My bike is actually fine too. Lost an end cap on my brakes, but that's it...the bike ended up getting tangled in my legs so it didn't go flying. Swimming might be totally out of the question for a couple weeks as one of the scrapes is fairly deep, and the thought of showering a couple extra times after working out just doesn't sound fun in the next few days. I can't complain though...if you told me the circumstances, I would have guessed a separated shouder, broken collar bone, and a concussion. wOw!! Sounds like that could have very easily ended up way worse. Hope you aren't too sore today. Glad you are mostly OK |

Expert 1202 Montana | Subject: RE: Team 3 - June Challenge I finally arrived on the team thread! My computer is slow this morning, so I haven't been able to enter my goals on the spreadsheet, but here they are: Swim - 11,000 yds Bike - 95 miles Run - 34 miles June is going to be a really low-mileage month for me, just because of all that is going on. I already missed four training days in the first week. I can't remember the last time I took four days off in a row. Gross. |

Master 1792 | Subject: RE: Team 3 - June Challenge Welcome to the week, folks. I hope this one stays low key for me. I was supposed to ride the Tour de Rock century next weekend, but I just do't think I can. I'm going to drop back to the 100k. It's frustrating to have ridden so many miles, and still not be able to do it. I rode 50 this weekend, and just couldn't imagine doing 50 more. DEpressing! Hope everyone has a great week. Go Team 3!!! |

I rained, it was cool, but it could have been a lot worse. So far I've raised $1500 but I'm still taking donations. Could you help? Thanks! Nice ride, Nicole! |

Extreme Veteran 494 Morris County, NJ | Subject: RE: Team 3 - June Challenge Hi Team--Took the weekend off from training and enjoyed a few days of fun one-on-one with my older (11 yrs) daughter. She had a wonderful time and I am completely broke. THese two circumstances often seem to coincide. Right on track with my goals this month--felt good to get back into the game this morning. I can report that last Friday I had my first-ever bike crash. Out with a new group and approached a standard turn that they now forgo calling out, so I didn't get the signal to slow. Crashed right into they guy in front of me. Was going pretty slow, so just a few scratches on my shoulder and shifter, and need new bar tape. I don't even have road rash, so I won't have a good story-worthy scar. Oh well, next time, I'll have to fall more dramatically, LOL. |

Expert 1163 | Subject: RE: Team 3 - June Challenge Happy Monday, Team! I had a pretty good weekend! Did my first 75-mile bike ride (actually it was 78) through one of those supported SAG rides. I think I ate too many cookies and pb&j at the rest stops, but I was able to make it the whole way through! I was able to test out using HEED for the first time (worked pretty well, but might need additional gels to supplement, since I'm sure my race won't have pb&j at the aid stations ), as well as riding in my aerobars for extended periods, which I don't usually do since that's really dangerous on city streets & on the lake path! |

Expert 1580 Ankeny, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team 3 - June Challenge Hey everyone - Got a bike ride and a small core/strength in this weekend. Dealing with pain in the left shoulder/down the left arm area that magically showed up last week. Since it was still there this morning - called the dr. They can't get me in until Friday at 7am - fabulous. So my preliminary treatment is - "be nice to it as much as possible" , ice and tylenol. Which I have been doing since it started hurting with no help. So I scratched the run I had this weekend (I left enough room to still make goal) and will try a 4 mile today and see how it goes. Hoping the dr gives me good news on Friday since I fly to Alaska for work on Sunday and would really like to be able to lift my luggage which I won't be able to now.. Happy Training everyone!
