yeats - 2011-11-10 11:01 AM This is the motivation I've been watching at breakfast to get me out the door, it's helicopter footage of this year's Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc 100 mile race. Someday I'll get there. http://youtu.be/TFWDUsvLCoE

I LOVE watching stuff like this!  I don't know if I'll ever RUN or RACE something like this but I'd be overjoyed for the opportunity to just WALK it for pleasure!!  Once, while in the car with the family, we were chatting about family holidays and I said that with our child getting older maybe we can start doing more adventure type travel - so I turned to my daughter and said "Imagine how amazing it would be to go hiking and get to the TOP of Machu Picchu?" to which she responded in a really funny tone "Imagine how great it would feel when you get to the bottom".  We may have to wait a few more years ha ha

That comment from your daughter gave me a good laugh this afternoon. Loved it.

I read that you can do the Mont Blanc hike on the trails where the race is held. They say it usually takes only 3 -4 days to hike it. Yeah, those runners are CRAZY.

I've gotten the medical all-clear to get back on the treadmill - woot woot! I work nightshifts the next 3, but plan to take my lunch breaks early enough to get down to the gym and get back on the wagon! I'm excited.

Hope everyone has a great weekend - to those racing, good luck and have fun!

Happy to hear it you got the all clear to run

I got in another 4.2 miles today , it was a lot easier than monday and tuesday
where walking breaks were a relief , today i could have run much longer
The days off helped my recovery

Planning to do a run beer mile tonight ..... You want
Some details ?
Participants will have to drink a beer before starting the run and another every quarter mile. This is quite a spectacle for both participants and spectators. After the run, we'll have dinner at one of the restaurants across the street and of course, more beers!

3 miler done at lunch - no issues.  Probably best to have rested the calf a couple of days, as it feels fine now.

Completed "Stone House (2x) Triple-Cross trail 8.5M " this morning - beat my goal by 30 secs !!!

The triple-cross part came from 3 stream crossings we had to do (twice since they were in the out and back portion of the race.  Water was cold - feet were numb for a bit after each crossing.  Overall a fun race though.

Kind of 'sad' - in a small (98 racers) 8.5 mile race I was 20 minutes behind the winner
