What/who are gamecocks, anyway?

No, no, no. I know that. It's just that I'm on a team with southernaquagoddess. She's a Gamecock and I'm a BULLDAWG. As in Georgia bulldog. And I'm stuck with the name Gamecock Wahoo and I will not wear a Gamecock jersey, no way, no how. Somehow, the wahoo part doesn't bother me. Anyway. I'm crazy, talking smack on my own team. Call us the chickens and be done with it

Don't you all know the Wahoos are University of Virginia Cavalviers? 

University Nicknames
Virginia's athletic teams have been accompanied by a somewhat confusing array of nicknames. The most prominent and widely accepted of these monikers are "Cavaliers," "Wahoos" and "Hoos," although "V-men," "Virginians" and "Old Dominion" also have been used to refer to UVa athletic teams through the years.

Although the terms "Cavaliers," "Wahoos" and "Hoos" are used almost interchangeably to refer to University teams and players, "Cavaliers" is more often used by the media, while "Wahoos" and "Hoos" are frequently used by Virginia students and fans.

Legend has it that Washington & Lee baseball fans dubbed the Virginia players "Wahoos" during the fiercely contested rivalry that existed between the two in-state schools in the 1890s. By 1940, "Wahoos" was in general use around Grounds to denote University students or events relating to them. The abbreviated "Hoos" sprang up later in student newspapers and has gained growing popularity in recent years.

Here's the dealio on my goal meterage:

December is my first month using my new coach.  So I have absolutely NO idea how much I'm going to be swimming.  I propose that I be allowed to say that my goal be to execute EVERY workout and EVERY meter sent by my coach.  I, uh, don't want to piss him off by swimming EXTRA yardage the first month.  So I don't want to predict some number higher than he has planned and end up swimming boatloads more than he intended.  But, this being the first month, I now have extra incentive not to piss him off by skipping swim workouts either!

Thus, I won't know my actual numbers goal until I get the last week of December's workouts.  But I can't cheat...y'all know Mike Ricci and I'm sure he'll be perfectly willing to verify the workouts he sends me.  That is...if you don't wish to take me at my word...but I'm a very honest person...

I second that emotion.

OK, I'm in representing the great Commonwealth of Kentucky. Put me on whatever team you think fits.

I notice that there's been a lot of discussion about team names, penalties for the losers, etc., but nobody's mentioned any numbers. 

I pledge 10,000 yards for December.
