Sensei Sin City | Subject: RE: TAN #180 Degrees (Turn Around, Every Now and Then) Paleo diet people. I did an ENTIRE 30 second interwebz search and found that paleo = caveman diet SO, if you can gather it or hunt it you can eat it. Otherwise, no. So no process stuff. Is that the gist? Not sure why that needs a special name. Seems like it's the "eat healthy diet" to me. But I did have questions. What about milk? I assume cheese is out since it's kind of processed. What are some items on the line between processed and not? ANYWAY, just going to stick to lots of fruits and veggies and lean protein. Wow, revalutionary. |

Wow, revalutionary. shop around the perimeter of the store, nothing with a label, etc. teejay would know if milk and cheese are "allowed." i think some hardcore paleo would say no. i think some hardcore paleo would say only things you could actually hunt and gather - ie no bananas because they don't grow in vegas. meh. you are on to it - veggies and lean proteins. don't forget complex carbs/whole grains for energy! What are some items on the line between processed and not? ANYWAY, just going to stick to lots of fruits and veggies and lean protein. Wow, revalutionary. Don't think of it as a "caveman" diet. We don't know what the hell they ate! Just eat whole REAL foods healthy foods. The less ingredients the better. No dairy or cheese. No grains. No sugar. Nothing processed. Generally speaking if it's in a box or can it's probably got preservatives and other crap in it. You may want to wean yourself into it. Eliminate things a little at a time. If you try to do grains, sugar and dairy all at once you will feel like CRAP for the first week or two. Also if you eat a diet of whole foods you don't really have to count calories .. just make sure you eat enough and get a lot of healthy fats. Avocados are your new best friend! do you do no carbs as well? when i did bbing and ate verrrry clean, i ate a lot of oats, brown rice, and sweet potatoes. i could survive a few weeks at a time on no carbs but couldn't do intense workouts those weeks...just wondering Edited by mehaner 2012-08-27 11:21 AM |

So I told my ex that I do not agree with her taking the kids to VA. She told me how she will file for child support unless I let them go. This was the first of the things she is using to emotionally blackmail me. The second and the one I was most mad at was when she told me that the county that she wants to move into was had zero rapes in the last 5 years so if I make my girl stay here I am going her 100% chance of being raped. And yes she did say that word for word and she meant it. Seriously she is telling me if I don't let them go I am a bad dad because I will be letting my girl get raped. |

Teejay can you confirm this? why do you think that? a plant-based diet is supposedly the best. Paleo without meat would be only fruits an veggies! Right? (no grains and no dairy?) Fruits, veggies, eggs, some nuts .. but I think that would just be a vegetarian, right? I really don't know much about that way of eating. Most vegetarians I know just don't meat but eat everything else. They aren't so strict about all animal byproducts. Right but vegetarians also (typically) eat grains. I eat a lot of oats, rice, pasta, sweet potatoes, breads. Couldn't eat any of that on paleo, and without meat it would be just veggies, nuts and I see eggs would be okay. I'd have a very hard time getting in enough calories for something like marathon training... I know it can be done (there was a thread in Nutrition forum about a BTer who trained as a frutarian for ultra running) - but it is very expensive and time consuming to eat enough calories... |

Teejay can you confirm this? why do you think that? a plant-based diet is supposedly the best. I don't know if that is true or not but I know that I LOVE my meat. I think if you are eating whole foods and you are getting all of your nutrients and you feel good that is the way of eating for you. I would die without my chicken. I only eat red meat once or twice a week. Chicken, tuna, turkey are my staples. i could never be a vegetarian cause i love meats too, but i think mostly based on the diets our meat are raised on, plant-based diet is supposedly best for you, heart health wise. i could also not be paleo. why are whole grains not allowed on paleo? i understand no bread or pasta, but why not oats and rice? are beans allowed? i haven't had dairy in like a MONTH. |
