Course food is pop tarts and there will be a pace booty competition at the end.Asalzwed - 2012-10-21 3:36 AM bcraht - 2012-10-20 11:58 AM Haha I appreciate your belief in me! I had a fantastic race! It was so much fun and I nailed my race plan. It was windy as hell, wooooweee! I got first in AG (so you were sorta correct) and 2nd overall women (I got a stuffed fish "trophy") and 7th overall men and women. Had lots of friends out supporting since it was local. J got some really cool pics I'll share later. And yeah, 22 bucks! That's why I HAD to do it even with Portland two weeks ago. Just looking at the Website for Salty's run--$22 entry fee! Man, how come I can find those races? She should be crossing the finish line about now--in first place no doubt Kate, did you run? (It said maybe on the Manatees Racers Report). Hope it went well. So where's my frickin' race called the Arsiyanti, huh? |

Janyne was in a bike/car incident this week. Not bad, it looks like she is fine, but maybe stop in and drop her an inspire. Thanks all, you guys rock! Thanks Chris and all those who posted. I was side swiped by a pickup truck on Wednesday afternoon/evening. I went down hard. The bike is in the shop. Fortunately, I am not. I am very very very thankful that the bike and rider (me!) did not get tangled up in the trailer he was pulling. I think that the driver was just not paying attention. We were both going straight. Both the driver and a witness stopped. Police report was filed. I went to my regular doctor on Thursday morning. I have road rash and bruises on the right side of my back, my right butt cheek, both elbows, my right hand, and my upper lip. I am quite attractive now. No, I do not know how I landed on my butt and got road rash on my upper lip. I also have cuts on the back of my left calf where it looks like my leg and some interaction with the crank. The bike is getting new front brakes (bent to the point that replacement is needed) and possibly a new fork and touch up paint. Just logging on in New Zealand - glad to hear you're not badly hurt, a relief when a bike and truck get mixed up....take care, rest and recover and of course so pleased the bike isn't terminal. Hi Jo. Hows NZ treating you. Who's a lucky girl, globe trotting just to see the world series. Are the Brownlee brothers in action out there? Just Alistair...It's such a great thing to be able to do - nic eof them to hold it so close to Melbourne. Next year's world champs are in .......ENGLAND...do yourself a favour and go watch. Watch???? I'll be the one wearing race number 1 now i've got my fast wetsuit!!! |

They are my super busy/long days so I barely login to my work email, never mind anything else. I only found the new thread cause I was looking at the forums...and there are already 3 pages! Holy moly. I too am loving all the SO pics. Allen, nice to see you. Good job on the re-quitting. Yanti, that cake looks absolutely like it would fit in at a pride parade. And blue icing out the nose, fantastic! It's no wonder where your joie-de-vivre comes from! I got on the drainer again tonight, just another shorty 30 minutes. I was going to do a bit of a run too, but the pineapple express has arrived on Track number 1 and I can't see the caboose.... Didn't want to have soaking wet orthotics for work tomorrow... Happy Friday to everyone! Can anyone translate that into something an englishman can understand? "The Pineapple Express is a non-technical term for a meteorological phenomenon characterized by a strong and persistent flow of atmospheric moisture and associated with heavy precipitation from the waters adjacent to the Hawaiian Islands and extending to any location along the Pacific coast of North America" Basically, it means that it rains here for 6 months from Sept-Oct to March-April. Not unlike your weather...It was downpouring here last night and I didn't want to get my shoes/orthotics all wet! And Caboose??? Plus where do you live, cos i,m not moving there when i escape from here. Just saying I can't see the end of it...the bad weather I mean. And I live near Vancouver. Don't move anywhere in the Pacific Northwest really. Gotcha on that. Think i might go and bug Chris somewhere near Englewood. Apparently, i'ts paradise, and from the photos i've seen of the area, he might not be wrong. |

Race done, but I heard from a friend this morning who is in the hospital. I am there now, he had a heart event. He is OK, but it truly is a wake up call for him. Well done on the race, Chris. Best wishes to your friend. |

So where's my frickin' race called the Arsiyanti, huh? Hey, you forgot to mention Pork/donuts/shrimp/buffalo(substitute own preference here) and beer as an after event party. It's not all about the race (i hope). Oh, and yeeaah for your Stuffed fish prize. Seems your value has been recognised at long last. |

What a great day I did enjoy it! I did have to wear arm warmers and fingerless gloves and compression sleeves on my calves b/c 60* is cold to me! I am always surprised what a difference cool non-humid weather makes, I actually felt pretty fresh at the end of this almost 50 mile ride. And bonus points for not being all gross and sweaty Oh, what are "sunnies"? I'm guessing sun glasses. |

Master 6834 Englewood, Florida | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Asalzwed - 2012-10-21 2:21 PM Chris, how is your friend and how was your race? Thanks for asking, he is home and is evaluating some options for his future health. He needs to exercise more often and his wife (she is a nurse) is going to make sure it happens. I may have a new running partner. I told him if he EVER wants to go out to run or ride or anything, all he needs to do is call. I just found race results on Facebook, of all places. 5th in AG, finished in 29:17. Not the race I was hoping for, I went out way too fast. Dying at the end, nearly lost lunch, blah, blah, blah. However, I had a number in mind and even though I didn't hit it, I have a better idea what I need to do in December at my QM. I have that circled (for no real reason) as THE race for the winter for me. I'll post a RR later this week. It'll be chock full of lessons (re)learned. If I can ever figure out pacing, I'll be friggin' dangerous. |

Master 6595 Rio Rancho, NM | Subject: RE: Yanti & Salty Beyond Ridiculous Manatees PART 6--CLOSED Happy Monday all! Chris, great rr, hope your friend is doing well. Yanti, hope you survived DF. Janyne, hope you are healing quickly, emotionally and physically. I had a great MTB ride with DH yesterday. We did a road I've been wanting to ride for some time. Probably a bit too much uphill for DH but he wants to keep at it. Maybe next week we'll find something more undulating. I've been contemplating getting a HRM for my HIM training. I've always use RPE but see a lot of people gauging their training and their race effort by HRM. Pod-thoughts? |

The target heart rate used for training is only as good as the original test. That, unfortunately, also depends on my being able to do that correctly. |
