The hotel is under construction and set to open in August, it's right next door to the Mission Palms. Just be careful when you book there are two different residence inns in the area. Just thought I'd share. Hope everybody's training is going as planned. |

For me, I plan on really focusing on training starting tomorrow (heading up to Flagstaff for the day). It's been hit or miss lately because of work but it's time to get accountable and stick to the training plan. |

Veteran 267 Avondale | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread My wife (Noodle67) and I hired a coach, Frank Sole of Sole Swim Solutions, for IMAZ 2013, our first IM, and have been following his direction and guidance. Our focus to date has been base-building and prepping for our recently completed Bike Ride Against Nebraska (BRAN). Now that BRAN is completed, the focus is game day on Novermber 17! Scary stuff, indeed! Regarding wells from an earlier question, we are riding QR and Valdora Tri bikes with standard Shimano R500/R501 wheels. I don't think better wheels will make much difference since out goal is to have fun and finish before the course closes with a dream of finishing in 15:XX. |

207 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Name: Chris What is your Ironman resume? CDA 2008 Why did you choose Ironman Arizona? It is in my back yard! What are you goals for IMAZ 2013? To stay healthy/injury free. Under 12 hours. What are you most looking forward to? not waking up at 330 to train in the summer heat here in Phoneix Veterans, any advice you can give? It is a long road... much harder to make it to the start line than the finish line. Keep the focus and dont beat yourself up over a bad week |

207 | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Plan actually starts July 1st will be a 20 week plan. Have a good base already but will be a plan instead of going out and just running or riding. I have taken parts of a few plans and molded them in to what i need and will make changes along the way depending on how training is going. Your body cant conform to one specific paper so you plan needs to have some bending in it also i believe. hope the heat here is not killing anyone else.. ugh |

Crazy to think there's people who actually like training in this nonsense... I went up to Flagstaff on Saturday and got a good ride and OWS in. I have a feeling I'll be doing that a decent amount this summer. |

Veteran 820 Omaha, NE | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Last year I rode a 50/34 and 11-23 with a Flo 60/disc. I'm about to start the 20 week BT plan, but will be derailed on the second week and for a couple weeks after due to surgery. I'm thinking I'll just stick to the BT plan and still run the 20 week plan but starting 17-18 weeks out and when it time to taper, it's time to taper. I know doing it this way I'll miss some a the longer weeks, but almost any amount of training will be more than last year. Last year was 14:30 with very little training, this year hoping for 13:00 @ 25 lbs lighter and do the traning, well minus the the surgery layoff. |

We've been dealing with selling/buying a new house since the middle of May. Training really took a hit in wks 4-7. Last week (week 9) I did an Olympic distance race and had a PR by almost 8min!! So I am pretty happy with where I'm at right now. Thankfully we're moving next weekend......unfortunately, I'll most likely have to miss my long ride and long run on the 6th and 7th Oh well, it's only one weekend, right?? |

Veteran 266 Kingwood, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Arizona : Official Thread Week 3 of training; all short stuff still; down 9 pounds, 31+ to go to be gameday ready in November. Training is becoming a habit and just part of my day - after 2 years of no training that isa big deal. Just got to keep it up for 19 more weeks! My wife attempted IMTX in May and DNF'd - she suffered in the heat on the bike. A week later she was very depressed - so I surprised her with an IMAZ entry through breakthrough multisport (cost was actually about the same as what it cost me to fly out and volunteer and register last year). She is kicking it in in her training as well and looking forward to completing her first IM. We are looking forward to getting through the training and showing up race ready in November. Keep up the work! Edited by jls42 2013-07-03 4:59 PM |

I've been moving and unpacking/organizing all week. I've only managed to squeeze in a 1hr bike ride. My legs were trashed. I wanted to get a 1hr run and also swim today. The run did not happen this morning.....legs are still mush. Hoping to get the swim done while the kids nap this afternoon. Tomorrow I'm back at work. So that means 2.5hrs on the trainer. Then I'll run on the treadmill before I leave work on Sunday morning. And I've got Boulder 70.3 in three weeks!! Everything was going pretty good up until we moved. I should be able to get back on track next week and put the hammer down until November 17th |
