Three months from this very second I hope to be at the very end of the bike and ready to start the marathon, with an unseasonably cool day of 80 or so degrees ??????

Only three months to go!

It's been unusually mild here this winter.  Not the best of signs.

KatieLimb, sorry to hear about your co-worker and sickies at home.

I think the hardest part lately has been balancing work, commute, kids and training. I had to make a crab costume for my 6 year old last night for a school DI competition. Yes a CRAB, lol. Thank God for the internet - a hoodie, some felt and hot glue and we had a crab! Between that his other activities (gymnastics and swimming) and then there's the 10 year old and her activities (gymnastics, violin, DI and choir), I am extremely grateful to have a hubby who doesn't mind picking up the slack! I know training is really going to increase in March, so I'm trying to prepare for that. Only 85 days...I am trying to enjoy this journey!!!

Things have been better this week in training. I have had a reality check about how fast the time is going. We are only 78 days out Folks!

I am not going to lie....This is getting real. I am loving the training and the journey even though it is starting to hurt a little. My ankle and neck are ongoing issues, and the mileage and time is all ramping up to aggravate both. I am sleeping like a baby though, which isn't like me. I am trying hard not to eat everything in sight. It is quite a journey. The only part of my training I don't love are the long trainer rides. Tonight's will be around 3.5 hours. I have to mentally prepare myself for those. My swim I have seen great progress as well, really been focusing on form and technique lately and I have been pleased with the improvements.

On the other hand though, I love my long runs. Tomorrow is 14, and it is supposed to be in a light snow. Can't wait, even though the conditions are pretty opposite of IMTX

How's it going for the rest of you?

I hear ya on the neck issues. Mine is starting to hurt as well. The training load is starting to take its toll on my sleep, I fear I'm not getting enough of it. But swims are going great, I'm increasing my bike mileage every week (up to 84 last week) and the runs are going good too. I am feeling strong and ready other than the obvious.................... I'm not strong nor ready!!!!

I'm having a blast! I've done a few before but this is my wife's first. Getting to train with her and hear about her training has been great. Our long trainer rides and runs are a ton more fun. The long periods of "extra" time together is helping us get our act together before we move to Italy in July, lot of logistics talk going on. (in between the huffing and puffing)

I do need to get back in the pool more....but I say that every year and it never happens.

Train safe everyone.

Missed a few workouts due to weather, work, etc., but oh well. Also raced a HM early in month and PR'ed by 20" as I went 1:34:06. Didn't know what to expect. Negative split, which was a top goal. Really trying to pace correctly. Overall, pleased w/ month. Hope everyone is doing well!

Swim: 8h 29m - 26100 Yd

Bike: 22h 26m 41s - 408.87 Mi

Run: 16h 36m 04s - 119.51 Mi

Good month for me. The "I need to spend more time in the pool" lament, though, is getting a little past ripe. Need to do more about it.

Swim: 7h 33m 43s - 23775 Yd
Bike: 26h 52m 34s - 465.49 Mi
Run: 16h 46m 10s - 105.3 M

Feb. Reports

Swim: 4h 23m 02s - 10582.26 Yd
Bike: 21h 31m 10s - 379.75 Mi
Run: 13h 01m 47s - 78.59 Mi

Getting the hang of it on the indoor trainer. No sense riding cold outside if my race is under the heat.

I was starting to look at my training plan and March it BAD but April is just plain BRUTAL. My husband and I are both educators and have a week off for Spring break in April. He wanted to get away for the week, but once I reminded him of my training schedule, he agreed to still go and take the kids, leaving me with some uninterrupted quality training that week. Best. IronSherpa. Ever.

Bike: 500.45 miles 24:13:13
Run 120.00 miles 15:34:50

Weather still held me back a little as well as problems getting a swim lane. Looking forward to warmer weather and some extra daylight in March.

I hear those with neck pain as I have it as well. 70 mile long ride this past week and my neck was really sore after. I spend 98% of my time n the bike in aero so I've been training my neck as well. Anyone have any pointers to help out? Neck excercises ?

Do you think your bike fit is too aggressive? There's typically a balance between a fast, aero position and one you can comfortably ride in all day. My IM position cockpit is about 1" higher (2 spacers) than my short-distance position and my bars are about 1" wider. Between those two things it makes a big difference on those long rides. I can spend all day in my IM position without any discomfort.

If I were set-up more aggressively, I'd struggle to stay aero at the end of the long rides and I'd have back / neck discomfort. Not a problem for short races and TT's, but a big issue for IM distance.

But....I'm getting older and I definately have some flexibility issues!

Don't feel all that agressive(see my avatar) but maybe I will swap a spacer and see if it helps.

Spent another handful of hours on the trainer again today.  This weather needs to fix itself soon or I'm gonna lose my mind.

Being in Northern Utah, I have actually come to tolerate my trainer. However, I am sure my patience will wear thin as these rides keep getting longer. This week will be almost 4 hours. I broke down and registered for Netflix, and have enough shows lined up to make it to race day. I got through 6 episodes of Friends on Friday's ride alone!

Only 68 days! Bring it!
