Here's my tentative: May(or is it April?)-J-Hawk Early-bird tri June-Lake Mills Sprint(?) July-SOR Sprint (I WILL lay the smack down on Lake Michigan this year. That beyotch had her way with me last year) August-Pleasant Prairie Olympic-will be my first olympic distance-yikes!
The ones that are bold are registered/paid for. Funds will play a part in dictating how many of the others I do, or if I'm jockstrapping. |

I'm now in the hospital for my CF getting a tune up but I'm able to run on the treadmill and I have a wind trainer bike in my room. I won't be able to start really intense training until I get out on the 15th though. This stay should give me a healthy boost to start my training! |

I have to tweak some as I have to move workouts to different days due to my schedule and when I get on the bike and such, but that's minor. I'll also have to tweak the training during the race season as I'll be doing a number of sprints prior to the Oly and I'll have to work some small tapers in there. But, it's a start!! I'm excited!! Up to that point I want to be in run training to race my first half-mary in April as well. I will also need to adjust to make sure I have proper recover time after my races and the wife and I are planning a second honeymoon to Mexico sometime in July/beginning of August... yikes! Don't you hate it when |

Sadly no. I went down there not knowing how amazing it was and then when I wanted to it was too late to get certified. I did get to go snorkeling though, which was also incredible. It was a nice family vacation. I hope to go back someday and scuba dive my lungs out. I was wondering what you guys think of this training plan for my sprint triathlon in May. http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/cms/article-detail.asp?articleid=... I'm going to be incorporating a lot more running into it because I have a half-marathon coming up in April also. The plan I intend on using for that is this Hal Higdon one. http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/inter.htm I've gotten as far as week 6 in that one until a foot injury knocked me out of training for 2 weeks. That's how I learned the importance of a good running shoe. |

Elite 4504 Columbus, Ohio | Subject: RE: Jszat's Group- full It is a hard one for me Snoog. With Hal's plan you do not have many options when it comes down to mix in other training. The only thing that comes to my mind is that you adjust to have 3 to 4 runs per week and keep the rest of the BT plan together. The most logical would be to do a two a day with your swim workout and bump the volume of the runs. I don't know historically what you have been doing or what you are doing now. Do you plan on logging your workouts here? |

Do you plan on logging your workouts here? After looking at both plans, I'd say J is going in the right direction. My concern would be, with the CF, to make sure you really listen to your body and peel back if need be. If you overlap the plans, it doesn't allow for a lot of rest days, which may or may not be necessary. You'll be doing a lot of 2 a days! |

Pro 4089 Without house | Subject: RE: Jszat's Group- full I'm looking to set my mileage goals (yardage goals) for the year for the 3 sports...Last year my training was kind of sketchy, and didn't really start until March of last year. I'd like to at least double what I did last year, but looking back, I think that goal is a little too easy. I need something to strive for (plus I like putting little ticker things in my blogs.) Here's what I'm thinking: Bike: 1500 miles (I'm getting in over 100 miles per month at the DTC...I can do that outside, too, right? That's what I'll have to keep reminding myself) Run: 360 miles (30 miles/month...roughly 7.5 miles per week) Swim: This one...no clue. I got to just over 38,000 yds last year, but the first couple months of swimming didn't include counting length because I couldn't make it one length without stopping 3 times to catch my breath! Hmmm... |

Elite 3687 | Subject: RE: Jszat's Group- full Sounds like some very fine goals. I would consider a time goal for your swims instead of a distance. If you get caught up in distance you may focus on things other than form and drill work. Those are the things that will improve your swimming. You folks who are close to the DTC are very lucky indeed. I would love to have something like that nearby. Yearly goals: Run 900 miles, Bike 3000 miles, Swim 3x/week. |

Elite 3656 West Allis, Wisconsin | Subject: RE: Jszat's Group- full my thoughts on the goals are thus: whatever goals are set you should have intermediate goals as well...........that way you have something to shoot for over a shorter period of time. say you wanted to do 10,000 miles of something, say running (just for fun, i know) so the ultimate goal would be the 10 G's but should have something broken down for each month and each week as well....................also, when you start seeing the finish line in sight (the 10 G's) start thinking about what you want to accomplish AFTER you reach the ultimate goal.......that will keep the training on point and will diminish downtime. when i used to run before (used to be a runner, done a couple of marathons), i had goals set for 5K time, 5 mile time, half marathon and full marathon........once i reached the goals i had no other plan and well, i stopped running..................make sense or should i bable on some more, after all, i am good at that............

Elite 4504 Columbus, Ohio | Subject: RE: Jszat's Group- full My goals.... ummm... more than last year? How about: 1,000 miles bike 500 miles running 60k swimming Long goals like dj was talking about is just to get in much better shape. I would like to be able to pound out a 50 mile ride, mile swim and 10 mile run without much thought. I am close on the mile swim being an okay thing but the others are not so much. Why those distances? Well if ever it comes to a century ride or a half mary it would not seem as insurmountable as they do right now. ETA... Oh and a sub 20min 5k would be sweet. Remember that you are also working your aerobic system on the bike so that will help things progress as well for the run. |
