I plan to hit the pool over my lunch break tomorrow for half an hour. Or if work gets too crazy, I'll just swim first thing afterwards. |

Extreme Veteran 461 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Wet and Wild I swam yesterday, did 1300 yards. I'll be swimming tomorrow and will shoot for 1500. Then next week, I think I will take a recovery week and swim 1000 or less. I've been building my swimming for 2 and a half months now and am thinking that I should back it off for a week. I'm just so excited that I now finally *get* it that I just want to keep swimming more and more, but I know in my mind that I will not do myself any good by continuing to push with no recovery weeks. It will be a good week to work on left side breathing and trying to breathe every 3rd stroke. I could throw some drills in as well. I will be over 50% after this week and there is still dang near 3 weeks left after that! For some reason, January seems like a long month! For those that maybe don't come to the thread daily... make sure you are ready on Sunday to put your totals into the spreadsheet which is posted on the first page of the thread. I will check Sunday evening to make sure everyone has put their totals in and will go hunt you down if you didn't! Kidding, but I'll go to your log and get your totals for you. Great job everyone! |

Extreme Veteran 504 Tucson, AZ | Subject: RE: Wet and Wild Got another 1:15 in the pool today!!!!! There was ice on my windshield and I went to an outdoor pool. Once you are in it is OK, but boy was that pool deck cold. Had great instruction! I am trying to add some distance. I cannot believe how sloppy your stroke gets when you get tired. And, I seem to try to drink up the pool -- through my nose -- while I am at it. A good day for my contribution to Wet and Wild!!!! 32% to goal. Now, off for some cruise intervals. |

Extreme Veteran 504 Tucson, AZ | Subject: RE: Wet and Wild Added 1:08 in running at the end of the day. A great day, long over due! A good swim, a good run, some streching and some strength. Life is good in AZ. Thanks for all the nice notes. I will put another hour in the pool on Sunday. That will bring me up to 46%. Go Wet and Wild. |

I'm not worthy This is the desert. It is cold over night and then warms up. It clearly froze over night, it was up to 37 when I drove over. It was probably about 40 when we got into the pool after stretching. The pool had steam rising from it. Once you are in the water it is OK. It is getting to the pool that can be tough. We joke that the "cool deck" of the pool is very cool some mornings. By the time we finished it was in the 50s and sunny. I left in shorts... Welcome to the desert. We do what we need to do to get our hours in. If I am going to get instruction, then this is when I get in the water... |

Emerson, my workouts are the same,38-45 degrees and the steam is soo thick that you cannot read the workouts on the boards. I just hate the sprint at the end of the workout so that you dont flash freeze! |

Extreme Veteran 461 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Wet and Wild Emerson, that sounds really cool. I would love to go for a swim with the outside temp cold and the water warm! Up here in MN, when it is below freezing out and snow on the ground, we will go sit in an outdoor hot tub. It feels so nice and is such a cool feeling to be outside in a swimsuit with a below freezing wind chill! |

Extreme Veteran 461 Minnesota | Subject: RE: Wet and Wild When I swim at college, there are a few college swimmers who are FAST! It is pretty amazing to watch. I swam a mile yesterday! I'm excited, it's like I have broken through that barrier that was keeping me from feeling confident about signing up for the oly tris I want to do this summer. Now for a recovery week. I'm feeling tight and sore and can tell I need to take it easy for a few days. Is everyone ready to put in their times/yards for this week? I just put mine in because I don't swim on the weekends and I'm at 57%. Can't wait to see how we did this week! |

My pool features, um.... older women with twenty noodles wrapped around themselves.... Although, I can tell it's January and people have made lots of New Year resolutions, because the pool's been crowded lately! (And some of them are decent swimmers, actually.) Dee |

Got another good workout yesterday, and it felt good to have another 7 people with me. Small group, but really miss Southern California where lots of people are with you, even more my Collegiate NCAA days. Talking 18,000 yards a day / 6 days a week with two workouts a day. Nice training, and boy, I was fast back in my younger days. Now just trying to survive and hope to regain some speed one of this days. Now come on and let's get our teams standards moving back up the charts folks. We are almost in dead last, and all my challenges we have tied for first. Let's get moving, and make sure that everyone should at least have 44% done if not 50% by now. Please get in the pool, and achieve a good month for January. Go team Wet and Wild, I know you can all do it. |

But I calculated a few missed w/o when I made my goal so I will be right on track! Go team!!! |

Get's borring, but just pushing the mileage through to get ready for the season..... I'll trade with you! Or, I can send you half of the 40,000 kids that were in the pool this afternoon. I don't mind that there are kids in the pool. I do mind that their parents drop them off at the pool, then go use the gym. The result is that the few adults in the pool area end up acting as "day care providers." Bleh. (I think I've become a cranky old woman. LOL) |
