#2297 First Ironman for me!

Goals:
1) Finish
2)  Finish running and not crawling (although this is an accepted form of locomotion in the athlete guide)
3)  Smile on my face, not injured or mentally scarred
4) Finish by Gator Kickoff (715)

I've enjoyed reading everyone's posts to help me stay motivated during this crazy training season....

Anyone know if any of the rough roads on the bike course have been re-surfaced?
Sorry if this has already been asked.

There is a 7 mile stretch on 388 towarda the turnaround that will knock your teeth out. The rest is all freshly paved.

Boryloco-

How have the waves been up there? I'm really nervous about that.

Thanks!

Not too bad except for today. We had a storm and tornadoes so surf was up. Had an open water swim scheduled and had to cancel. Lateley the wind has been out the north and that knocks down the waves.

I hate running on a treadmill....hate it.  It was snowing all day today...ranging from a slight flurry to a heavy snowstorm (ya know, those HUGE snow flakes that look like white birds???).

I got home from work, and only had to run 4 miles....only 4!!!.....hardly snowing out, got ready, and walked outside (and I'm talking a period of like 10 minutes), and there were millions of HUGE white birds falling out of the sky!!!  A lake band squall passing by....

*SIGH*  What to do....turned on my iPod, and "Loose Yourself" started playing....I smiled....and headed off into the snow....I was completely covered in the front by the white stuff within minutes...but I was still smiling....I've come too far to let this hold me back....felt like I was being tested......

At the 2 mile turnaround, the squall passed, and there it was, a veiled sun in the high clouds......maybe I passed the test???  ;-)

Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted-One moment
Would you capture it or just let it slip?

Hang in there, BT'ers!!!!

Hi folks...meet racer number 96

I was honored to hear tonight that I was part of not one but three people's race plan. They planned to finish, get an ice bath, grab some food and return to the finish line to watch me finish. I was honored and humbled. I pray I won't let you down!!

11 days people....Im soooo ready to complete some "unfinished business" from 2008

Never doen an Ironman before....1. I assume they do not FILL your bottles, but, rather, give you full bottles at the aid stations...is that correct? 2. Are the bottles "regular" size or oversized with the extra area above the WB cage? 3. Are the aid stations generally crowded? i.e. do you have to get off the bike and wait for a bottle, or do they do handoffs as you ride by?

No they do not fill your bottles but give you full ones

regular sized bottles of water or gatorade like you would buy ina convience store

Aide stations are every 12 miles....typically not crowded.  You don't have to get off.....figure out what you want (ie water) and who has that item.  Point to a volunteer slow down for the hand off and grab what you want.

2641 here.

HOT???!!!  Bahahahahahaha.  The current temp here, at 8:07am, is 79...with a high of 88 today.  If those forecasted conditions hold true, I will be VERY happy...just no colder

Still planning for it all though.  Have an awesome day everyone.

I have been training in 100 degree heat in Atlanta all summer.  Now that Fall is here we have been getting some 50's and 60's and I LIKE IT!  It is amazing how much faster you can run in the cold or at least that is the case for me.

A lot can happen to a forecast 10 days out...BUT:

That would be an absolutely perfect race day for me!!!!

I am so upset. Have no idea what happened but I cannot put any weight on my right foot. So swollen, can't wear bike shoes and on crutches. Off to podiatrist in an hour and hopefully x-rays. I really, truly have no idea how this happened! IT started hurting a little Mon. night and by last night it was so painful I couldn't even sleep. Ice, advil, elevation, all that stuff did nothing. I wanna cry.

OMG Kristin I'm so sorry...  Praying you'll get over this pronto.

Unfortunately, sounds just like what happened to me when I had a stress fracture.  Hoping I'm wrong.  This makes me want to cry.  Really really hoping everything works out for you and sending positive vibes your way.
