Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good Morning Ladies and happy hump day. I am actually looking forward to swimming at lunch today..I have my swimp3 player that I am going to try out. OK - I need breakfast tips.. I usually eat my last snack or meal by 8:00 at night and don't eat again till lunch..so about 16 hours between meals. Any suggestions on something fast and easy...maybe a shake I can drink at my desk? I am trying instant oatmeal..I know it is not the best but better then nothing. |

I usually make up a batch of what I refer to as egg wannabes once a week and reheat a couple in the microwave daily with some whole grain bagel or english muffin. I'll send you the recipe later... Another option, whole grain toast w/ some nut butter & milk....gives you carbs, protein and fat to make it through.... |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Scott - How bad is it that I thought the same thing?? Does this mean my perverse though process is on your level? OH NO!! ![]() I make a batch of steel cut oats one night then portion it out for the rest of the week and reheat for a couple of minutes in the microwave with a little skim milk, dried cranberries and sometimes honey or brown sugar. Good fiber and keeps me full all morning long with my coffee. |

I have never tried anything but the instant oatmeal..but I am being told the non instant is quite a bit better for you..I may try that next week. |

Royal(PITA) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() my egg wannabes...South Beach Diet veg quiche cups 10 oz pack thawed & drained spinach 1 carton egg beaters I use the southwest flavor diced pepper, I like red ones 4 oz can drained sliced mushrooms dash of hot sauce optional diced onion mix together, sprinkle shredded low fat cheese on top of these and bake at 350 x 20 min. I microwave them about 1 min when I want them, they also freeze well. It makes a dozen, 2 "quiche" are a serving at about 88 cal for both. That's why I make sure to have the bagel or english muffin with it. Less than 2 minutes and there's a fast breakfast.
I also like peanutbutter (yes, I wrote it out since the pervs here thought other things) |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I usually have one slice of whole wheat toast and peanut butter when I first wake up and then an hour or two later I have oatmeal. Once a week I'll have an omelet after crossfit on Saturdays a bunch of us go out for breakfast. I usually eat a bit differently on vacation especially active ones. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey gang! I'm looking forward to having Lisa out here for a visit. Meeting her tomorrow to deliver the bike. I'm so excited to meet my first NUTSO! Leah will be next in Oceanside! I have to remember to take my camera with me so get a picture or two. I'm nervous about the triathlon on Sunday but it will be better having buddies there. Lisa, my young tri friend, and MAYBE my bro-in-law will be participating in this race. The race will be a 600m OWS, 12 mile bike, and a 5k run. I know I can do this distance but the swim will be my first Open water swim since November. It will be interesting. You all know how I am about the Open water! I have an hour long private swim lesson on Friday so hopefully that will build up my confidence a little bit. As for breakfast, I'm a banana and fiber one bar type of gal. Hope you all are doing well. Maybe I'll have a picture to post tomorrow of LOSTA and AZ Sunshine!! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Gonna have to give the eggs a try as well. They sound good! Scott - 1st off 16 HOURS without food... Woah! How do you do it? My stomach commands direct attention after 9-10 max, and then I start getting cranky. 90% of the time I grab a no-fat greek yoghurt, a banana and a coffee. I can't do oatmeal too much - stomach revolts. Sometimes cereal, sometimes egg white omelette with dregs of the veggie bin. This morning we splurged a bit and had bagel with egg and cheese and guacamole. I'm having a bit of guacamole frenzy right now, which happens every other week or so... Other quick options - Grab a string cheese, almonds, granola bar or granola, make a sandwich the night before, fruit is always good - melon balls (not related to nut butter), current fave is spicy pumpkin seeds, corn cake pb&j... many typical lunch time items make perfectly delicious breakfast items as well. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think that is so cool about Kate and Lisa doing this race this weekend and look forward to my turn in Oceanside. I am going to Chicago in April and hope to at least get a chance to say hello to Debb in person. I don't care for egg white omelettes, but can do Egg Beaters. I usually do half eggs and half Egg Beaters, if I am preparing them myself at home. Because I don't eat grains or dairy, toast/cereal and yogurt is out, but I used to eat cereal and yogurt most mornings for breakfast. Now, I have an eggy dish of some sort about half the time and the other half I have about three ounces of nitrate/nitrite-free deli meat (I get the Boar's Head brand at the deli counter) along with cherry/grape tomatoes and a piece of fruit. Speaking of cherry/grape tomatoes, I am going to grow them this year. I think I am getting everything I need on Saturday. I am excited because I haven't grown anything in decades. Besides, I love little tomatoes and eat tons of them. Fortunately, ten ounces is only about 50 calories so you don't even sabotage yourself by eating lots of tomatoes. I missed my swim this morning so it will only be bike trainer tonight. What is everyone else doing? Have a good day everyone!! |

I have never tried anything but the instant oatmeal..but I am being told the non instant is quite a bit better for you..I may try that next week. I actually don't watch the show but I have seen it and find it crude and yet hysterical. I mainly watch the blood and gore science stuff like CSI and Criminal Minds..Burn Notice and White Collar are kind of "thinking" shows..LOL. But movies like SuperTroopers, The Hangover, Beerfest, SuperBad and Pineapple Express just have me laughing for days. I've got my first sprint of the season April 18th, then a 100K bike ride the following weekend, then Bassman international on May 2nd.....then just training until Eagleman (HIM) June 13th. Got a swim in last night. Only about 35 minutes, don't know the distance because I was trying to work on form and breathing. Found out there's a master's swim program going on at my own gym..I didn't know! So I spoke to the woman coaching and she left me the paper with info to sign up. There was only one guy that's a triathlete and another girl there swimming so looks pretty good. Might try working with her once a week then there's another swim/triathlon coach at another gym that does Monday nights and works with one of the local triathlon clubs. Kate & Lisa, I hope you guys gets some pictures up! I'm going to try to get down to Rumpass Olympic early on 4/17 so I can hopefully cheer Queen on and meet her! |

Expert![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kate and Lisa - have fun in Arizona. And I think we may need to get jerseys made for the NUTSO cause.. My volleyball team mates are hating me. Since I started training in earnest the last two weeks my game has dropped dramatically. However I must say that my running has improved especially the week I did not have volleyball. I am finding that the sports do not mesh well together at all. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I was 212 this morning which ties my lowest recorded weight as an adult (since i've had a scale at least). A weight I haven't seen since 2003/4. Every pound less from here on out is new territory - exciting! How's everyone else doing? I've got a quick 30 min bike then 6 mile run scheduled for today. It's looking like a beautiful day in the making. Spring has sprung here VERY early - cherry blossoms are out, trees are pumping out pollen, daffodils are out, favorite time of year here - so many colors. Needless to say the allergy pills came out early as well. I'm playing hookie from work tomorrow morning and going to see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. Very excited ![]() |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Jerseys would be fun....wonder what kind of image we should have on it. ![]() I couldn't do my spin class today because of an "all-staff" meeting...you know, I really hate it when work interferes with my workout! So I did the stationary bike for 30 minutes....7.8 miles averaging 15mph...Ok, I'll take that because the bike pedals felt heavy and was not a great bike. Old and rustic, but it is a government gym so I can't expect Lance Armstrong quality, can I? Off for a run tonight, hoping the warm weather is actually coming this weekend for my first outdoor bike ride! Planning on a short run afterwards too! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Nutzos! Lisa arrived in the Beautiful Valley of the Sun today. We met and she got her bike. They looked pretty excited to be heading down to Tucson. I forgot my camera so I will HAVE to remember to take it to the tri on Sunday. Kiri - Congrats on your weight loss! You are a star! You have earned it with all those miles you have been logging! Keely and Judi - I think our jerseys should be a happy cheerful color with some kind of crazy image. I think the grinch is good or maybe crazy Jack Nickelson face from the SHINING! Hmmm. Maybe he is more scary then nuts. ?? I got in a brick tonight. 1 hour ride and a half hour run. Tomorrow is my swim lesson. I'm pretty excited about it. |

LOL...THAT would be a bit NUTS! Kate - good luck with your swim lesson today!! I can't believe you forgot your camera?!!?!? Shame on you!! Just kidding...it's happened to all of us before! I'm doing a brick on Sunday, outdoors..YEAH!!! I'm looking forward to it, feels like we're finally past all of the snow and spring is on the verge..very happy! Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Everyone! Thanks again Kate! We will take pics on Sunday! We met briefly in Phoenix more to come, felt bad keeping you so long. I walked and had a nice night swim in the lap pool at the hotel last night. I had the whole pool to myself. Last night I had a dream I missed the start of the tri. Oooops I'll try to make sure that doesn't really happen. I spent a bit over an hour putting my bike back together last night (I had the bike shop pack it up they didn't use my packing material and it was a struggle to get the tape and cardboard off). Late this afternoon I'm going to a Zoot Party at Tri-sports here in Tucson. Tomorrow they have their tri-fest I will go for a few hours to the seminars. |
