Pro 4482 NJ | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are doing Ironman distances this month! Morning Ann & Neal. Looks like it's a Ghoulie run today. I'm going to do 10, maybe 11. This is it. Last long run before next week's half mary. I need to jet out of my jams first though. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are doing Ironman distances this month! Hi Kim. I got a 30+ mile bike ride planned for today. My long run is tomorrow, but I haven't decided how far I want to go yet. Have you found any good marathon training plans? I would like something with a long run longer than 20, maybe 22 or even 24 miles. I'm trying to find a 24 week plan, too. Or at least something longer than 18. I may take a Hal's plan and add a few weeks. |

I may take a Hal's plan and add a few weeks. I just pulled up Hal's novice plan yesterday. I also have a half in May, so I thought I'd try and keep my long runs at 8 - 10 until time to start a full plan. I'm more nervous about the longer mid week runs of up to 8. Work isn't too bad right now but that will most certainly change at some point. I'll look around some more this weekend. Have a good ride today. It's windy here. |

I have my half on May 2nd, then my next one is Sept 5th. I figure marathon training will have me in good shape for the half in Sept. I was out earlier to do the barn work. There is a little bit of a breeze here, it's not too bad. I just wish it were a little warmer. I need to go this morning though so my son and I can go to the movies this afternoon. |

Elite 3144 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are doing Ironman distances this month! Happy Saturday Ghoulies! I also have a 30 miler planned today on the bike. I think I'll go in the afternoon. It's supposed to be about 65 and not too windy. Tomorrow's weather looks pretty similar for my 5.5 mile run. I was hoping to be able to take the kdis to the pool but they would freeze. Hopefully next weekend... |

Psst Thanks Bill for the idea of cold shower with rather than ice bath. I could stand that MUCH better and longer. I'll check back in later. Mwah!!! |

Champion 10742 Ames, IA | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are doing Ironman distances this month! Donuts + running = BAD IDEA! I kept all my donuts down but feel like poo right now. I ate 10 donuts during the race, but it took me longer to eat them than the time bonuses that I gained from them. Run time: 18:43 Finish time: ~31:00 Donut Adjusted time: ~21:00 Would've be much better off not eating a single donut. From what I heard they were much bigger than last years |

A 4th year who has been matched to a residency program just sent around an email about the CARMS match process...its basically the organisation that you apply to in Canada when in 4th year to see where you are going to be/what specialty you will be for residency... So anyways...she sent an email detailing the process for applying to residency...panic panic panic panic....how to get references, do electives where you want to apply in the program you want to apply...make sure you give ppl preaddressed envelopes so they can just send your references idiot proofed to CARMS...flying across Canada in Feb of 2013 to all the interviews back and forth, back and forth...$4000 later...gasp gasp... Man...2 yrs away...2 yrs...need to finish 1st yr...focus on the now...haha... I've decided half of getting into medicine and getting into residency is just seeing how you deal with the stress...You guys didn't know me pre-medicine but I know I annoyed everyone last year...(I'm kind of an overanalyser...as you can tell)... Anyways...Ok...I'm good... Yes, one thing at a time, my dear, one thing at a time!!! Ya...process things make me panic...I'm good...I'm not reading anymore CARMS related emails till the end of 3rd year...haha |

Ended up at my friends house in the city yesterday cause I got a text from my Mom telling me not to attempt to drive home because we had a crazy weird storm last night the and roads were bad with ice and fallen trees...so ya...studied at her house and slept badly on a futon... Had exam...was so delayed because there were technical difficulties..like an hour delayed...so we were all standing in a hallway waiting for the other group to be allowed out of their room...(security precautions an all)...I know I have to be flexible...but it was still crappy.. Then did 3 hrs of clinical skills practice with 2 classmates. We have a big clinical exam next week on cardio, pulmonary, thyroid, blood pressure and diabetic foot exam... So ya...life feel better now after having some chocolate coloured dried fruit and nuts...and I'm making myself a asparagus, tomaoto and feta pizza...its an experiment I got an idea for from a luncheon I went to a few weeks ago...so here's to hoping it doesn't follow the general trend of the past 24 hrs... Sorry about the crappy futon sleeping arrangement Melindy. At least you've got some delicious sounding pizza to look forward to. Let us know how that turns out! x2 It was suppppppppppeeeeeeeeerrrrr good! :D My recipe: (its really difficult) haha Ingredients: whole wheat pita 1/2 roma tomato 3 asparagus stalks feta cheese balsamic vinegar Directions: 1) Cook asparagus about 10min in water, drain and let cool 2) Slice asparagus into 3-4mm circles 3) Slice tomato 4) Smear 1tbsp of balsamic vinegar on pita 5) crumble some feta cheese on top of the vinegar 6) Put tomato slices on 7) Add asparagus circles 8) Crumble more asparagus on top of the tomato and asparagus 9) Drizzle some more vinegar on (1tsp ish) 10) Cook in oven Haha....super duper difficult...I am basically a gourmet chef! :P Pizza makes everything better. Even if it does have green stuff on it, right Ann? I'm just biting my tongue, which is meat - no veggies, by the way! You could substitute chicken instead of the green stuff! haha...unless you don't like tomatos too...then I don't know what to tell you...haha... Edited by mndymond 2010-04-10 12:03 PM |

Yes, it would probably have been "smarter" to just run through and finish fast (speaking of which, 18:43??? Damn dude...) but eating 10 donuts along the way had to be fun At least you know how NOT to do your nutrition at IMMOO now. |

Elite 3144 | Subject: RE: The Ghoulies are doing Ironman distances this month! Good afternoon gang. I decided to hold off on my ride to the afternoon so I could get some cleaning done around the house. So far I've cleaned a bunch of windows, done some vacuuming, sorted papers, and cleaned all the countertops/stovetop down stairs. Not a bad start. More vacuuming and dusting to follow For now, I'm just gonna grab a light lunch and let my stomach settle a bit. It's been a bit rumbly this morning and I do not want to have any issues if I'm 9-10 miles in the middle of nowhere on my bike later on. |

From what I heard they were much bigger than last years You boys think of some very funny ways to entertain yourselves. In my winter mentor group, they had a mg competition via a *beer mile.* Every 1/4 mile you had to drink a beer. Penalty points for returns. Final time was adjusted vs your PR 5k mph average pace. Also does not sound like a good idea. Let the tummy settle and go for a nice, easy bike. |
