February's totals:
Bike:15h 11m 32s  - 277.42 Mi
Run:2h 14m 26s  - 15.67 Mi
Swim:3h 26m 10s  - 10200 M
Strength:8h 55m

So disappointing.  More time spent in a therapists office than on the road or in a pool.

Good news though is that after my ride Sunday I haven't felt even a twinge from the knee.  Today was a push day for lifting in the gym and an off day for my legs.  Gonna run tomorrow.  Crossing my fingers.

Log your PT time.  At least you'll see how much time you're putting into getting better.

If training for a triathlon (as compared to focusing on running) the "optimal" ratio of bike : run MILES (not time) is about 4:1 or 5:1 (mostly because biking has synergistic impacts on the run and is non-impact so there is not the risk of injury whereas the run doesn't really have any impact on the bike and there is a fairly high injury risk).  For me HOURS wise this works out to biking a little more than twice as many hours as I run.

Thanks Kelly. It doesn't look like I am too far off. I have already set my goals for March in Garmin connect (210 B, 63 R, 13 S) and it won't let me change them. But, keeping this in mind, I'm going to try to end the month a) meeting all goals and b) ending with a bike to run ratio within your suggested "4-5 : 1" range.

jarvy01 - 2011-02-28 8:44 PM Here's my Feb.:

February's totals:
Bike:21h 21m 46s  - 397.5 Mi
Run:4h 32m 17s  - 25.08 Mi
Swim:6h 22m 38s  - 18700 Yd
Strength:30m
Walking:1h 54m

I'm really happy with the bike total for the month.  I've only had my bike for 6 weeks.  Obviously my run total was low because of my injuries.  Want to hit 400 on the bike next month, 20,000 in the pool, and 50 on the run.

Nice job on the bike Jarvy

Yeah.  I think so too, but I'm trying to stay cautiously optimistic.  I've readjusted my training goals for the time being.  I just want to get to where I can get through the Oly I'm registered for the first weekend in April and finish MOP.

I've been seeing you post about entering your goals into Garmin Connect so I figured this month I'd give that a shot.

I've got goals of:

Bike = 200 miles
Run = 45 miles
Swim = 9 miles

I went off of my training plan for the month and figured out, roughly, what the time equated to in distance based on my past efforts.

I think the run might be the biggest stretch, but we'll see!

So here's a link to the map of my ride coming up this Sunday.  Parts are on the IMTX route so I'm pretty stoked.  Looks like lots of hills.  Something new for this flatlander.

Yeah it really is.  I'd love to find a job out that way and move out of the city.  It'll be my first metric century as well.

If 3000 ft of change over 66 miles is hills, I live in the wrong part of the country.

Seriously the biggest "hill" within 20 miles of my house is a freeway overpass.  Guys from North Texas come down here and smoke people who don't know how to ride hills.

That tire is done.  Don't envy the flat, but envy the fact you're riding outside.
