Expert 1149 CenTex | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I'm up for both Friday and Saturday. We are coming in Wednesday late afternoon, leaving tomorrow morning and driving up in 2 days. (The kids can't stand 15+ hours in the car.) I'll probably do something easy on Thursday as well, just to keep the legs warm. Looking forward to seeing everyone there! Thanks to all who are volunteering! Safe travels to all on their way to the race! <Game Face = ON> |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Question for the locals, or those that have been riding in Louisville - I'm heading up early Thursday morning, and want to get an hour easy ride in when we get there that afternoon/early evening. Any ideas on where to ride? Should I just head out the bike course 30 minutes and turn back? Or is there another place that would be good? We're staying at the Marriott downtown, and would like to just ride from there if possible. |

We're staying at the Marriott downtown, and would like to just ride from there if possible. i have a bunch of tri friends who have done loo. the advice i've been given is if you ride any part of the course before hand, make it the out and back. it is (apparently) the hardest part of the course and also one of the least traveled sections. the recommendation was to park at the church that is near the right turn for the out and back and do that segment. the total distance of the o&b is 10ish miles. maybe do this segment once or twice if you're trying to get in a ride. i've heard traffic on the other roads can be a bit tricky otherwise. |

Lets just hope that the weather thursday shifts to Sunday. wow...at this point, the weather is better than I had hoped for. I know things can still change, and that 89 degrees is still warm, but i've been of the mindset that we were going to be doing an IM in mid 90s heat and humidity. |

Member 69 Not where I want to be... | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread What tires are you riding with on the bike? I use grand prix 4000's for training but I have a set of the Zipp tubular shell clinchers for the race. Any advice. I seem to be prone to flats and wanted to see what you guys are doing. |

I'm going with Michelin Pro Race 3's. I train on Michelin Lithion 2. I've used the PR 3's for every race I've ever done. Never used a tubular before. Maybe next year. Sweet ride 15! Member 56 Little Rock, AR | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread I'm dreaming about it every night now. Last night's dream? We all show up to a 1.2-mile pool. At the end of lap #1, I get out and a volunteer points me through a carnival. "The next pool is over there," she says. I jog through the carnival (with rides, funnel cakes, games and everything I might add) and find nothing. I go back to the pool and the volunteer tells me the first pool is an out-n-back and that I shouldn't have listened to her. I try to hop back in the pool but a ref stops me and tells me I'm DQ'd for exiting the pool early. Why aren't there ever any good Ironman dreams?? Edited by BenDoesLife 2010-08-24 10:02 AM |

Extreme Veteran 557 Woodland Hills, CA | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread Transition at Ironman all depends on how good the volunteers are. If they get your number as you come in someone should be able to have your bag pulled and ready for you to grab and go straight into the change tent. If the volunteers are overwhelmed or missed you then you may have to do some searching for your gear. Start yelling out your bib number while heading into transitions and while heading out of the change tent toward your bike, it will really help them to focus on getting your stuff in a hurry. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: Ironman Louisville : Official Thread My dream last night was about nutrition. Everyone was heading out on the bike and had all their gels and stuff. I realized I had nothing, had to go look in my pantry (why my pantry was just off transition I have no idea) and all I could find were crappy flavors. Great! |
