I was at the vet last year, and this woman was there with a dog that was very timid. She told me that her dog was seeing a doggy psychiatrist, to try to deal with his fears. (We have a dog that is afraid, but I'm not spending money to send her to a shrink.) A doggy psychiatrist? Seriously? Now I've heard it all. Dog Whisperer FTW!!! My parents used to watch that show. So ashamed. Hey, I love the Dog Whisperer. We use some of his "techniques" on our dog that is very afraid. I guess when this person at the vet said she brings her dog to a psychiatrist, I pictured the dog on a couch, discussing puppy-hood. But I guess it could be similar to Ceasar Milan. He's brilliant! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Actually Vets and Vet specialities are one of the fastest growing careers ... think about it, people are far more willing to spend money on their dogs now adays than they did 20 years ago. Hell, my dog went to an allergist over a year ago and now I give him shots every 3 weeks. He is also on sterioids regularly ... my pill-popping puppy!!! As a reward for my trouble for being sick ... dropped 1-2 lbs, I will take it. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think you might be wrong ... I might be slower than you. I just did 14.4 miles in 1 hour ... WOW I was doing 16 or so before Goofy! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() SHUT DOWN Seven weeks in to base trainig I am missing my first work out today. I know one day is no big deal but it bugs me!! I have to shut it down to try to get rid of this stomach symptoms. I am not vomiting or pooping so that is good. But I have had constant unsettle upset stomach since Sunday when I was sick. Running just seems to stir it up and make it worst so I am done for today to see if that helps. Any suggestions? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Got in an early trainer ride and will run after school pickups. I've been really hungry lately. I'm trying to eat whole foods but with Valentine's day candy lying around....well, I got a little sloppy. Going to clean things up and drop a few this month. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I slept in today too. Going to have to do weights and bike tonight, after my make up swim from yesterday. Work is killing me! Don't see it getting better anytime soon either. |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Today felt so much better than Tuesday in the pool. Left very encouraged. Back and bis on weights and a trainer ride at lunch. On a weightloss note I came across some more "fat pics." One is from a failed body transformation contest. Others are just random photos. Cindy said it looks like someone stuck an air compressor in my rear and inflated me a ton. Scary stuff. |

Hills, hills, and more hills. |

Fuild intake is down because it make my stomach feel awful!! I have the vomit burps but no vomit & stomach just feels gross. I would try to consume foods that are gentle on the stomach - BRAT diet or something like it. Don't get behind on your fluids. It's so hard to get back to where you need to be once you're behind. Rest as much as possible. |

I agree. Would you mind giving the "how to make sure you trainer is set up correctly" talk? |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Are you supposed to inflate your tires every time you use the trainer? |

I agree. Would you mind giving the "how to make sure you trainer is set up correctly" talk? Yes please do, because I don't agree. If I do a hard interval workout (Sufferfest or Spinerval), yes, average pace is slower. But steady effort rides (and staying in a certain HR zone) my average pace is faster. Now I live in a very hilly area, but it sounds like most of us do. I don't think indoor is necessarily slower, it depends on the type of workout. ETA - I think I'm a slacker outside though, so maybe that's part of it. And yes, you should inflate your tires every time, as well as set the tension the same every time. Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I can't for the life of me get my trainer set the same each time. Rode tonight on it and the tension just isn't right. It's a Cycleops Fluid trainer. |
