Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed By chance does anyone know what a burning type feeling along the inside of my leg could be from? There is no pain at all just an itchy warm tingling feeling not really burning so much. When it is acting up there seems to be a vein that gets raised along the path in question. It's along the inside of the thigh below the groin and stops around the inside of the knee. The main itchy tingle is on the thigh part. I know not the best description and I need to see a doctor but I don't think it's serious and there is absolutely zero pain. Help me diagnose this! |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed I hope the snow holds off down here in Texas for a while! I got in a quick 2mile fast (for me...8:00) run followed by a swim. Feeling relaxed in the pool despite my low volumes as of late. Getting ready for Sunday. |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Originally posted by bobddsmd Wow. There is a lot of action going on here! A lot of great racing and training going on. I have been somewhat in hiding as I crawl towards my first OLY this weekend. The downside with having the HIM under my belt is that I was not really scarred. I'm sure I will get a kick in the butt for that one. Actually, lingering hamstring and glute issues have made working out tough. Actually working out is fine, it is the other hours in the day that are rough. I have pretty much decided to bag the HIM at the end of October (Austin) unless this weekend race gets me going. Good luck this weekend Bobby! I hope the race this weekend gets you going! you the man! |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Hips don't lie... felt really good this morning so I decided to go out for a short ride. I iced when I got home. And a few hours later - my hip ached again. So, I'm glad I'm going to the docs tomorrow. He's a triathlete and hopefully he will figure it out. An amusing story to share. Yesterday the pool was so chlorinated that my eyes started to burn after swimming a lap. It was so bad that my mouth actually started to tingle. I quickly finished my 300 yards and got our of the pool and showered. My eyes burned the rest of the day. Turns out - some one pooped in the pool 15 minutes before I got in and they tried to shock it. So many people complained - that they closed down the pool. Brutal! |

New user 180 Auburn, AL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed Got in another swim yesterday. I have started to experiment with bi-lateral breathing and I must say it works a lot better for me. I'm swimming further and a little faster with the same amount of "effort". Near the end yesterday I forgot to breath on my left (I was a right breather only) and it was a lot harder. Not sure why I did not try this sooner, I think it would have made my life a lot easier. So for those who have not tried it I recommend giving it a shot. Only took me about 100m to get somewhat comfortable with it, but that may have been the swimming team 30 years ago kicking back in.
Next it's flip turns....... |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed I just got home from my appointment with my PCP. He confirmed everything I've been feeling. Super tight ITB. Sore glutes (when he pressed down - I almost shot off the table). I told him everything I was doing and he said that he didn't have anything to add to my list So, he told me to go get some physical therapy (I've already made an appointment with the guy he referred me to - a 3 time Kona finisher but I can't get into see him until mid November. Believe it or not - the office manager at the clinic is the mom of two of my former students, so hopefully she will be able to get me in sooner.) If the therapy doesn't solve the problem - he said he would send me to a guy who could do some gait analysis. So what should I do? Here is what I'm currently doing Daily: roll and ice 3x, and ibuprofen Every other day - ITB strengthening exercises Weekly: swim 3x, get stretched by my trainer 2x. I'm also going to be meeting with a personal trainer at my gym. He has kindly offered to help me for free (but I think it's only a matter of time before he says show me the money). Hip is feeling decent after the bike ride yesterday. Do you think I should go for a few more bike rides - say two a week? What else could I be doing or using? Should I add some squats or lunges to my ITB workouts? Has any one had a myofascial releases? Been drinking some good beer. Need to eat better but it's so hard when I am not working out. I'm thinking of buying a Coors lite 40 and putting that on top of my fridge to keep me from falling off the food wagon. Finally - the indians have broken my heart again... grr |

I don't see how squats or lunges could hurt, and they might help - so give the iron a shot. What shoes to you run and walk in? |

One bike ride a week a training plan does not make. Even 2, I mean, that is not training right. If anything it is therapy. Once a week on a sore hip is probably just as bad as 5 times a week. |

Expert 1662 Spokane, WA | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society 2 - Closed David- DH may be on to something there. 1 may be as bad as 5 if it is something that needs to heal properly. Along those lines, I ran for the first time in since 2 Sundays ago today and after mile 1 had the tightness in my calf persist throughout my 6 miler. I'm thinking I need to go on the shelf for an extended period. I did to much to fast. When I come off and try running again, I will stick to 3, and 4 milers until I can slowly increase the distance. I feel like I went up the ladder a little to quickly and am paying for that. with that said, I need to replace my runs with other workouts, but nothing really satisfies that itch like the run. I find the pool boring, and it's getting a little chilly for outdoor rides. Tomorrow I'm going in to do circut's, and maybe add a bunch of core work to strengthen my core. IDK for Sunday. Maybe a ride in the middle of the day when it's a little warmer. |
