First it was the chicken biscut for breakfast... now it is the sweet tea...wes mantooth - 2008-07-18 3:00 PM I visited a friend in New Hampshire recently and was craving some sweet tea, but realized that I was SOL, or at least I thought I was. Who would have thought that McDonald's serves sweet tea in NH? It wasn't as sweet as it usually is here in the south, but it was better than nothing. Yup, they have it here at Mickey D's too - though you can get sweet tea here in certain places, due to the large population of Southerners who live in the DC area. Yeah...what's up with that? Are they TRYING to make Americans fatter? Wait...yes, yes, they are... |

I believe DC is ( how ever so slightly) below the Mason Dixon line. |

Just saw a local McD's with that too.. hoping it doesn't suck |

I believe DC is ( how ever so slightly) below the Mason Dixon line. Yes, it is. The Mason-Dixon line runs on the border of Maryland. DC is DEFINITELY in the South - even though there are plenty of Yankees (like me) here. |

They are a major contributor to the problems with Starbucks since they started offering mochas and lattes. It is just another way to stretch their market impact... |

Wait...yes, yes, they are... Yes, I know - that is my point. Not debating this one right now. Obviously, I think people have a responsibility to take care of themselves and not eat crap. But it was nice when some of the fast food restaurants started attempting to offer "healthier" items, instead of merely trying to suck American wallets dry.

I'd say it's more the consumer not wanting healthier options at a higher cost than it is the restaurant trying to suck our wallets dry. |

They offered them... They didn't and don't sell... Wendy's is the perfect example/case study of that (and poor marketing, but that is another nail in the coffin) |

Wendy's is actually re-marketing the salads now. Maybe they don't sell in certain areas of the country, but they seemed popular up north when they first came out. |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Spokes - 2008-07-18 3:11 PM Yeah, but California is NOT the South, and Southerners are not moving there in large numbers You see the fast food chains falling all over themselves to offer variations on Mexican foods, though. I just think this is a mistake by McDs trying to transfer a regional product to a national market. It will work in some areas, in others, it won't. Sweet tea is generally NEVER offered at any restaurants or chains in California. They hand you artificial sweetener. Not so much Mexican stuff here in Columbus... which is known for being one of the biggest test markets for new products. Plus we have a huge and growing Hispanic population. It probably sold very well across many of the test markets to justify a national launch/test. Think McRib Edited by JChristoff 2008-07-18 2:17 PM |
