it was a lovely day for a run here Western PA. sunny, a bit cold but TOTALLY TERRIFIC!
31:36 was my finish time. and i ran an additional 1 miler w my hubby and super FAST kids!! WOW! who knew? didnt get the swifty gene from mommy thats for sure.
my youngest got FIRST PLACE in his age group
and my 9 year old got SECOND PLACE in his age group.
no hardware for mom, but im so happy, happy, happy my kids got LOTS of BLING and did AWESOME!
as for my race....
my time was better than i had 'feared', but id be lying if i said that i wasnt frustrated.
at this point, i believe its at least 70% MENTAL,
just something that im gonna have to sort through.
i need to get back to that place where running a race was accomplishment inandofitself, remember those days?
AND i HAVE TO ditch that little voice inside that says, if you didnt get injured, you'd be.....
its OK to feel the disappointment. its hard going from running a certain pace, to feeling like your starting at square one.
i guess i just hadnt anticipated how hard, or how long this was going to take...
but i PROMISE myself im not going to hang here too long.
ill find my way THROUGH. i did when i got injured, and thats what brought me to TRIs. so my intention is the same NOW.
thanks EVERYONE for your words of encouragement! my inspire 'box' was chock-full. SO good to come home to especially feelin' a little frustrated....
i know for me persistence, consistency is key.
i may not be swiftiest, but ill sure as hell be the most persistent and consistent athlete out on the course....
gonna keep plugging away!
Congrats to your kids!!!!!!! That is fabulous! Congrats to you on your race too! You might be coming back from an injury but remember, you are coming back! You didn't give up, you are on your way back to where you were! Consistency indeed!
