tri808 - 2010-04-21 11:08 PM I just ordered a couple of spinerval dvds off amazon.  I thought I could do without them...because they are a bit pricey (i did get them for about $25 each compared to $30 retail)...but after watching my 5th movie on the trainer...I decided I needed to give them a try.  I can't focus on the movie and my workout at the same time.  The only way I can do that is if I spin really easy at very low efforts.  I guess there's a time and place for that, but since I only ride 3...maybe 4 times a week...I need more intense workouts.

I'm trying out volume 13 and 14.  One is a 3 hour workout focused on endurance rides, and the other one is a TT focus...both of which are my goals.  Will let you know how they work out.

I love the Spinnervals "On The Road" DVD's, where Troy rides the actual Ironman bike routes at different IM venues.  I have Lake Placid ad Louisville.  Haven't done the Louisville DVD yet.  Lately I've been watching DVR'd shows while doing my trainer rides, but I'm ready to get back into some "serious" training, so I'll pop them back in.  Hope you enjoy them.

tri808 - 2010-04-21 5:32 PM whoa bill...where did the new avatar come from?  Is that you?

Jay - Presque Isle State Park in PA yesterday with the family.

It was my jump photo

Love the new avatar, Bill!  But I must say, I'll miss the "Terminator" looking avatar.  I can't tell from this picture... did you lose the facial hair?  I hope you have a great trip with the family!

pdbman - 2010-04-21 6:35 PM Went to the pool and tried the full sprint distance without any breaks and I didn't die! Not that 300 yards is a big deal but I'm not much of a swimmer and haven't done that distance for a while. Did a strength workout before I left so there's a couple more workouts to log and that much closer to my goals for the month.

way to go Paul!

Good morning, A-team,
It's hard to believe that it's almost May already.  Summer's right around the corner!  I got up early for a nice, easy treadmill run this morning.  In the next couple of weeks, it should be light enough by 5:45am that I will be comfortable running outside.  I have my 10yo daugher here at work today (bring your child to work day).  Should be an easy work day, but no lunchtime workout.  Then softball practice tonight.  Hope everyone has a great day!

I just have a quick run planned for today.  Tonight I have to do laundry and pick out what I'm going to wear for my race on Saturday!  Lol, I'm such a girl Wink

What race are you doing?

It's the Derby Festival Marathon in Louisville!  It looks like it should be fun, as long as the thunderstorms hold off!

Good luck in your race, Missy!  Hope the weather holds out for you.

P.S.  Two more posts and you will become "EXPERT"!

Thanks Bill!

Hey look, I'm an expert now!  I must know more than I did a few posts ago Tongue out

Congrats on your promotion to an expert! How exciting.  Do you feel the wealth of knowledge that came pouring in when you received your new rank?

Most definitely.  And good timing, too. . . Just in time for racing season to start! Wink

pdbman - 2010-04-21 11:10 AM So how's everyone's day going today? I hope its going well.
I'm a little baffled with some things. First I don't understand the whole weight loss thing. I try to do good and watch what I eat and don't lose any weight. Then I have a busy week where I eat mostly bad food, I don't pass on the cake and ice cream deserts, I even chowed down on candy and fast food last night. I step on the scales like I do every Wednesday expecting to have some gain and I've LOST 5.6 lbs. I did have the half mary Saturday, but its only a mile more than my long runs so I wouldn't think that would have done it. Sometimes it just doesn't make any sense at all.
Second, why is it that I can have all these bad things happen over a couple of days and still come out smiling and other days something small will make my grumpy and tense? I'm thinking that I have a little extra help from above on the days when a lot of things are going bad, but why do the little things affect me so much? I am grateful for the BT forums. Reading everyone's posts do help to lighten the mood so thanks everyone.

Totally hear you on the weightloss thing, too.  I remember at one point, I was eating well & exercising, and I wasn't really losing weight.  Funny thing was I dropped about 2 pants sizes so people kept complimenting me on the weight loss even though the scale wasn't moving!  Eventually the weight did go down, but I think sometimes it takes a while for your body to respond to your eating/exercise habits.  It's just surprising when it does it one week when you're not being so good!

brick94513 - 2010-04-21 2:04 PM Well... It's official.  I signed up for my first 24 hour solo race.  Oh God, what was I thinking?

Bill, forgot to mention I got to check out some epic design bags at the Sea Otter.  A couple guys from Salsa bikes had them.  The bags are very nice quality and they had nothing but praise for Eric at Epic Designs.

Also, met a guy camping next to me that rode from San Diego to Florida.  He had some awesome stories to share about his 85 day adventure.

Wow!  Congrats on making the commitment to do the race!

I wish I could get 85 days off of work so that I could ride around the country too!

G'morning A-Team!

I was going to either go for a quick spin on the trainer or go to a yoga class this morning, but I always forget how long it takes me to get ready to leave for a trip.  I double and triple checked that I have everything I could possibly need for my race on Saturday.  Then I got everything packed up and ready to go.  I'm taking the train out to my parents' house in the suburbs tonight, and we're heading down to Louisville with some of my friends from my running group tomorrow morning.  We should get there in time for packet pickup, checking out the expo, then going to dinner.

I'll probably be around BT later today, but don't know if I'll have internet while I'm in Louisville.  So if I don't check in later today, have a good weekend everyone!

Hey All!
I wanted to let you know that I have requested to be dropped from the challenge. I am so friggen busy right now and while I am doing a pretty good job of (normally) getting at least my run in, it just isn't my top priority during this transition period. I am also having major shoulder issues again and had to go back to my ortho guy yesterday and beg for a cortisone to get me through the move. He was hesitant since it's been barely over a month since my last one but under the circumstances, he obliged (but with 1/2 the dose!)
Anyway, I will pop in now and then to play cheerleader but my computer time is just very limited right now!

It's funny because I was recently wondering how you were managing to train AND move...  Sorry to hear your shoulder is still bothering you though.  Good luck with all you have going on this month and keep us posted when you can!

Why does work have to keep me so busy that I hardly have time to check BT this week?  Ugh!!!  All I really just want to get outside for a run before soccer practice...  It's nice and "breezy" today for the added outside running challenge.

Bummers about the shoulder.  Take care of that and the move first.  Winning these challenges doesn't mean anything to me in the grand scheme of things.  Yes it's a good way to keep myself motivated, and hopefully motivate others...but if we lose knowing we tried our best given life situations...that's all that matters.

x2.  These challenges are just for fun, and sometimes more important things have to take precedence!  Letting a bum shoulder mend and moving across an ocean definitely qualify Wink

We'll miss you being on the team, so definitely pop in whenever you get the chance and say hello!

Hahaha, but Muck Rakers are so few and far between!  Ordinary people can only *wish* they can aspire to that status!
