Dee- you can totally do the half mary before the tri. Just pick a plan and stick with it. You will do awesome! I have to admit I'm a little jealous of your long run. i need to get my mileage up and pretty quickly if I am going to run Carlsbad.
I tend to pick a plan, then change it, then change it again, then decide to meld the different ones together.... I end up with training plan ADHD, and less actual training than I should have. I am actally looking into having someone write me a plan--that way I'll quit looking at other plans, and hopefully just follow one.

deehtz - 2010-10-12 6:09 PM I am trying to figure out how to blend training for a 1/2 marathon in with tri training.  The run mileage will have to be quite a bit more than the tri plan calls for.  hmmmm.  Usually my long run right now is about 7-8 miles (though a few months ago I went 9 miles all jogging with about 7 more miles walking).  Do you think I can ramp up for a 1/2 marathon in February and a sprint tri in April?  Or should I do the tri in April and a 1/2 marathon in June?  Also considering holidays and winter weather.  I am so confused.....

Dee, it is very doable. I've done it for the last two years. Interested in what others have to say, but I started with the half mary run plan as the foundation for the overall training plan. Pick one. I've used Hal Higdon's novice plan which allows for plenty of cross training, but there are many others out there. Since your half is in February, you can back off the running mileage post race and ramp up your swimming and biking in March. The biggest challenge with early season halfs is the winter running. Try to not spend all your miles on the treadmill. Last year, I only ran on the tready if there was too much ice on the roads to safely run outside. With the right gear, no reason to run inside where you live.

Do what Kim said.  Pick a running plan first to follow and then substitute its running workouts into your sprint tri plan.  That 5k and the end of the tri will be cake if you've been training for a half marathon.

I always get plane tickets on Tuesday.  I don't know why, but it's usually cheaper

I will keep that in mind from now on and compare.

I know when I was looking for tickets to Disney they were $800, $800, $800 then all of a sudden I found 4 round trip, non stop tickets for $516. I bought them then, I thought if I navigated away from the page I'd never find that price again.

Morning Ann. When I get back I will probably be in a good mood to slap someone(s)- get a list up!
Yes, you all should be jealous- nothing like the smell of metals and acids in the rain!

Later Ghouligans.
