Hi everyone, great brick tonight, feeling awesome and I get to sleep in tomorrow!!! (til 6am)

Also, just wanted to give my two cents on ibuprofen since I had a back experience --- ibuprofen is an NSAID, and while it works great on pain and inflammation (both of which triathletes know all too well), it can cause ulcers which are very painful.  I was using ibuprofen all fall while I trained for my 1/2 mary.  I was only running 2x per week, but my knees always hurt.  Needless to say end of October or so, I stomach has had it and I was totally sick to my stomach for a full 24 hours.  I could only attribute it to the ibuprofen and I didn't use until at all again til mid-Feb when I had some back pain.  Used it a couple times in a couple days and the stomach pain was back with avengence.  I have been meaning to get with the Dr. to get a test done to make sure I didn't hurt myself, but everyone please beware . . . I was an idiot and didn't listen to my body but masked it with anti-inflams.

Ignore if you want, just throwing it out there . . .

I hope everyone has a great weekend of workouts.

Hey guys, posted this on the gear forum but Kelly asked me to post here.  Hope some of you find it useful:

------------------------------------

OK everyone, just tried the poolmate tonight.  Couple of things:

Strengths:
-  It is pretty cool that it tracks laps, yards, stroke count, time per set, etc (I lost track between 4 & 5 laps on a 300, I know SAD) - it worked perfectly on freestyle
- I like that it tracks without pressing buttons or thinking about it (I am a dork and lost track all the time)

Weakness:
- Hard to read and small font (have to look real hard or take goggles off), which sucks when you are doing sets on time and don't need to be trying to read a watch while catching your breath
- DOES NOT TRACK kick only sets (of which I did a total of 600) and timed out (so started a new set when I was done)
- Was off by 50 on my 400 backstroke

I can deal with all the weaknesses except tracking the kicking. Anyone have thoughts on this one?  Am I wrong?  I want it to track my entire workout, not part of it.

This may be a silly question -- but is there a kick mode on the watch?

The injury still feels good.  I'm so excited to finally feel some relief.  Thanks all for the positive comments!  I will definitely take it slow and steady.  I may try to run again tomorrow.  Think that's a good idea?

I have an hour bike ride scheduled for today.  I have to make up the core workout from last night.  I got home from the pool and was spent, so I bumped it.  My son's first birthday party is tomorrow, so I have to get up at the crack and get a workout in tomorrow.  Making Pad Thai and Chicken Satay for the party....yummy!

I saw 141 on the scale this morning.    Don't know how that happened because I've been eating a lot of food.

From Swimovate's website...

Q The Pool-Mate doesn’t update my laps when I’m doing kick sets or one arm drills.
A The Pool-Mate must be put into Pause mode when kicking or drilling.

All good news Jennifer!
I'd say run if feels OK to run... just take it easy and stop if it starts to bug you.

I got a 1 hr 7 min trainer ride in last night before volleyball...

After work today I am going to hit the pool for 4000 yds and then jump on the trainer for 30 minutes or so.

For the fourth time, I hit 167 lbs (my lowest since I can remember) on the scale this morning. I can't seem to get past it!

Nice Jay! You'll break through that 167 mark, I have no doubt.

I still can't believe how much you've lost and how different you look.

Thanks Steve!

As I'm sure you know, Kumi (my wife, for those who don't know) has been scanning old pictures of us a putting them on FB... I really haven't "looked back" in a while - so, seeing those picture of me has renewed my drive.

why 1:07, not 1:05 or 1:10?   kelly is the only other person with such rides on her plan.

Poolmate:  No, no kick mode and this is the answer I got from customer service.  The watch only understands what you do with your arms, so when stagnant, the watch doesn't capture yards

Kind of disappointing -- I would want it to count kick sets too.

New steed!

2011 Masi Evoluzione 105

Simply awesome.  Kids have last swim class tomorrow, another kids birthday at 11:00, and then I am determined to take my new bike out as well.  It'll be 41 tomorrow.  That almost feels like July around here.  Sort of!
