Car trouble...

We JUST got major service done on Sat.  everything looked good.  Car sat all day Monday and the battery was completely dead that night when the wife needed to drive to LA.

I jumped it figuring we left a light on or something all night/day.  She got to Barstow and stopped for a burger and the car wouldn't start again. She was mad and panicking but I talked her through getting a jump from a Burger King manager, then drove to an Autozone with 10 minutes to spare before they closed and they swapped out the battery which seems to have done the trick.  The other one was only 2.5 years old though.

I'm just grateful I didn't have to drive to Barsow to rescue her.

Ugh, that bites.

Hopefully that does it and the alternator isn't the real issue.... otherwise, the car will be dead again soon enough

Autozone tested it.  Only 10amps when the car needs 12.

Plus I don't know if she get's from Vegas to Barstow on a what was basically a dead battery.  I guess it's still a possibility, but we will find out in the next day or two if the car doesn't start.

4agoodlife - 2013-01-15 4:00 PM Hi TANners It's 2pm and still feels freezing. Ok, it's about 47 out, but I want a hot shower to warm up! Coffee didn't do the trick

No complaining unless it's been in the 40s/50s in your office for the past 2 days!

ETA: Get off my lawn!

Wuss.

I can HTFU with the best of them.

But I don't feel like it. 9 hours left here!

I am so not looking forward to this weekend. My grandfather passed away last night at age 93, funeral is Friday. I am trying to decide if I take the kids out of school for the funeral which is 5 hours away. I am definitely going, but debating on whether to take the kiddos and wife. I hate funerals...

I had two babies and really did not find it all that eventful, though my babies were both under 6lbs and labor was a proud PR of 36 minutes, first one was 54....quite an improvement!!!

But to be fair, I was ridiculously sick and threw up every day for 9 months.

Hehehe...so I shouldn't mention that it's 65 in the house and I did just take a hot shower to warm up? And that after I walk to school in the 47*, I'm coming back to curl up under my blanket? That really sucks about your office though. Not cool on the boss's part :/

I'm sorry to hear that

If the kids are old enough to remember him, consider taking them.  It's just one day of school of many more to come, but it's the only remaining day they get to see him.

Take them. I still remember my grandmother's funeral - I was maybe 6? - and I think that it's important.

Once the funeral is over, have a little family bonding/fun on the trip, if possible. Maybe do things grandpa would have liked?

Thanks, after talking it over with the wife, we are going to take them. It's the right thing for us to do! He was a cool guy with some of the greatest stories ever told.

Sorry for your loss. I say you are doing the right thing taking the kids. I also agree with finding something fun to do afterwards in memory of him.

Sorry to hear that.   Hard decision on taking the family.

My grandma says she wants us to throw a party when she passes...she hates funerals too.

I'm wearing base layer pants under my jeans - a base layer top, fleece and light jacket - a fleece hat - thick socks under fuzzy boots - and gloves when I'm not typing. I'm comfortable.

We've considered it. It's not expressely forbidden in our rules, like space heaters...
