kaqphin - 2008-11-09 5:58 PM Hi sal!!! How was yuor weekend?

Very busy!  Wanted to get together with Kendra this weekend, but I had some prior commitments.  Had volunteer work Friday night, volunteered at the CAC Saturday morning (spanish interviewer for Armful of Love) with my wife, date with my wife last night, church this morning, then friends from Mankato over for soup and rolls tonight.  Whew!  Gonna give Kendra a call and see if she's still in town tomorrow...

Artemis - 2008-11-09 7:19 PM Hiya everyone! I have a food coma. We went out for Cuban food and I think we have enough leftover for lunch and dinner tomorrow.
Cuban food, sounds yummy!

Oh yes. Kuba Kuba is so delicious and WAY cheaper than Havanna 59. Kind of hard to get to, but it's a nice date.

Hmmm, never heard of these places. I love a wide variety of ethnic food. John doesn't mind it. The girls aren't so adventerous,.

Kuba Kuba is in the Fan (Lombardi and Park) and Havanna 59 is in Shockoe Bottom (17th and Main).

Kuba Kuba is nice because they have some kinds of normal food, but then more adventurous things, too.

Artemis - 2008-11-10 12:19 PM Hiya everyone! I have a food coma. We went out for Cuban food and I think we have enough leftover for lunch and dinner tomorrow.

Woo hoo no cooking!!!

Hi Jen

Hi Cat!

The no cooking thought definitely crossed my mind.

I went grocer shoping this weekend and there was only a couple of priorities when choosing what to eat - with 'can I prepare this at 8:30-9pm very quickly with I walk in the door sweaty and starving' very very important...

That's usually high on my priority list for cooking, too.  I've been thinking more and more about cooking on the weekends and just reheating things.  Seems like it would be easier and would lead to us eating out less often because we're too tired to cook.  I just have to figure out what recipes work well for that.  Clearly, things like fish are out, but some chicken wouldn't be bad.  I wish we had a bigger freezer, too.

Wow...that ended up long.

Oh I 100% understand... but the freezer at home is sooo tiny and my flattie - well he just isnt interested in food beyond eating ridiculous amounts of it. So if I want to know whats in my food I have to take responsibility...

Some things are easy - I buy pre cooked smokd chicken breasts which I just chop up and throw on a salad with a boiled egg, scrambled eggs on toast, diced pork coated in flour and cooked in the pan, home made pizza (flat bread, tomato pastes, mushrooms etc and a bit of cheese cook in about 10 minutes) and corn fritters...

But I know if I dont find some variety Im gonna be bored FAST which = eating crap!

So the choices to name the new bike are Bleu (kinda quirky but it lacks zing) or Saphira  (doesn't quite roll out with impact though)

Ooh...that would be a good plan! They even have brunch until 5 on Saturdays.

I think I'm doing the 8k instead of the half. My knee still hurts and I have a cold. Plus, I don't feel like running 13 miles. Is that bad?

I like Bleu better. Saphira makes me think of the Eragon books.  Could modify Bleu a bit...Bluebell?

I think I'm going to knit for a bit.  I finally found a pattern I like and can do and got on the right number of stitches (that took 4 tries!!!).  So, now I just have to be careful and not screw up.  Ugh.

what's Rummikub?

I'm back!  But gotta take off again to make some phone calls (youth group)...

Played with tiles you set up in a series of at least 3, i.e., 8, 9, 10 or 3, 3, 3.  Can't start play until you have sets of tiles that add up to 30, i.e. 9, 10, 11 or a combination of a set of tiles, i.e. 1, 2, 3 and 8, 8, 8.

Maybe this link explains it better... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rummikub

Done making calls...

It's a game we've kind of adopted.  When my mom was alive and the kids were younger, my mother LOVED to play the game (she passed away from breast cancer about 4 years ago).  My mom was pretty sharp and always beat us.  My wife and kids and I got to the point where it was our goal to beat 'Lola' (Tagalog for grandma) whenever we visited.  We eventually got to the point where we could beat her occasionally.  My youngest son is a math wiz.  Either that or she let us win!

Very fond memories and something our kids will always remember.

The hardest part is actually loading the flash drive from the camera and down loading the pictures.  I know how many times I have to hit "half" to edit the picture to a size the site will take now

Well, then just turn Bluebell into "Bleu belle."

Et voila, it's like French.

Kinda, anyway. LOL
