In case any of you are wondering what the swim start looks like.  Here is a photo I took from the top of the hill last year.  You go down the ramp to the right, not in photo, then work your way back to the 2 docks closest to the lower left.  You can only see one of the docks in the photo but you can see the athletes continueing on towards off shot.

They will split you up to either one, cross the mat and and pretty much go as soon as you hit the end.

Good luck and I will see you at the swim exit!

For me, reality set in when we were down at the transition area staring at the empty bike racks and seeing all the Ironman tents waiting for Sunday.  This nebulous thing that I have been training for the past 9 months is coming into focus and I am liking the way it looks.

cornchexs - 2010-08-26 9:28 AM Got here yesterday late afternoon.  Met mattajw; we're staying at the same place (Town Place Suites across the river.)  Looking forward to check in today and seeing the town.  Safe travels to all that are on the road!

Hey George - I'm staying at the Sheraton.  I assume since we are both across the river we are close by.  If you get the chance, can you scope out some parking for race day?  I was just trying to figure that out.

Hello everyone, made it to West Virginia and spending the night a few hrs away from Louisville. Amazing to think that last night this joint I am staying was a thought, it is reality now.

Anyone know when the practice swims were planned? I have a quick swim to do tomorrow and Saturday, and wanted to do it in a closed environment if possible (and preferably with other people!)

8-10am I believe on Saturday (might be 9-11 but you can check the athletes guide for details).

Every time I look at Sunday's weather report, the HIGH temp goes up one more degree!  Up to 94 now!  I gotta stop looking at that.  Somebody stop me before I get it up to 100.  Geez.

We made it to Louisville.  Staying at Towne Place Suites.  Just had dinner across the Ohio River from the transition area.  It is all lit up and looks awesome!  Very excited to be here.  Today's drive was brutal.  16 hours.  Going to bed.  Tomorrow we're going to bike the run course and then drive the bike course.  Sat morning we'll see you guys at the swim!

In an effort to get my hours Ironman-ready, I went to bed last night at 8:30 CST and just got up (at 2:30) I'm hoping for Sunday to go to bed at 8 and get up at 3:30. I need the full 17 hours so I'm trying to be near the front.

Arriving in Louisville this morning at 8.

See you all there.

Chris, I'll check it out this morning.  Heading out to ride the out/back section on 1694 (I heard that was the most hilly part of the course) and drive the rest of it.  After that, we're going to check in; I'll try and get a bead on parking then.

You and I both Ben. On the run I will be wearing a bright yellow Livestrong shirt (one of many I am sure) so if you see me lets do this thing together and bring it home.

Is the athlete briefing Mandatory?  In the athlete guide online it says it is but in the book they gave at registration does not say mandatory?  I am running behind schedule and really don't want to go.

What time is everyone doing the practice swim tomorrow?  I know it's from 8-10 but wondered when everyone else was going to be there.

The underpants run is at 11:00 and I am planning on running that, so I want to make sure I've got time to put on my best skivies for the event.
