We have a 3 day frisbee tournament bash. It is an event that has been going on since the DH graduated from college. About 15 years ago the event moved here. Folks come in on Friday, we have a big gumbo cook out with really bad rock music on Saturday evening (remember me talking about the group " The Suffering Bastards"?). Then really really bad acoustic music on the portch after we turn off the amplifiers (we think we sound good after midnight and know ALL the words to those songs). Then the St Alfonso's pancake breakfast on Sunday morning with redneck hour 'douvres on Sunday afternoon. Ya, party like your still in college with the college age kids shaking their heads. Come on and join us. My only plans as of now are to take my son to a Padres game on Sunday. It'll be his first game ever! THAT is way cool! Enjoy, there is no time like your first big league game! |

Come on and join us. We try to once a month or so over the winter have a game night where we invite a bunch of people over and we play cards. Instead of game night, on Saturday evening we are having a picnic and a bonfire. I'm planning on cooking the food over the fire, hotdogs, marshmallows, mountain pies. My dad's birthday is today, so we will probably have cake, too. My sister is bringing her kids up for the picnic, so I called and told them to come up earlier, and I am going to grab my niece from my brother and my parents, my husband, and I are taking all of the kids fishing at a pond on Saturday morning. On Sunday afternoon we were invited to a picnic, but we declined. The kids want to go geocache and hide the travel bug we found this week, so we will do that on Sunday after church. Sunday evening they have been invited to their cousin's house where they will sleep out in tents by the creek and have a camp fire. I will be sleeping in my comfy bed by myself. Not sure what we'll get into on Monday. I'm kind of thinking we will take the kids hiking on the trail we like to go to that is pretty kid friendly. We may also do some geocaching while we are in that area. I also think I'm supposed to hide some more this weekend for SAR training. This is what is planned, but things rarely go as I plan them. I'll report back what actually happened on Tuesday! Sounds like a lot of fun. What is a mountain pie? FYI, Here in the south that term means cow poop... It is sort of like a pizza. A layer of buttered bread, with the butter on the outside. Then add some pizza sauce, some cheese, whatever toppings you like, bacon, pepperoni, veggies. Then another layer of bread, with the butter on the outside, then you toast it in the fire. You make them in these. (mpm.jpg) Attachments ---------------- mpm.jpg (7KB - 3 downloads) |

MotoQueen![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hello, I'm still alive. Barely. Okay, life is sucky right now. First pulling the muscles in my back and now a sprained ankle. I have no idea how I am going to manage to get through the sprint Tri on June 5th. Three weeks of no training is sucky. And, I'm being transfered to another library branch. I'm trying to look on that as a positive. BUT... it is the branch with the most afterschool problems with kids. Luckily they are transfering me there now and I can get used to the branch over the summer before school starts back up with all of the problems in August. Positive side is that they feel that I'm a strong enought manager and person to handle the problems at that branch. Another positive, I will have more staff with about the same amount of circulation or maybe even a little less circulation. So the staff is not so overworked as they are in my current branch. Also, I will get to leave behind my two problem employees. But who knows, I may be inheriting someone elses problem employees. I do look on it as all of us starting with a clean slate, so hopefully we can work through everything and do away with anyone even being considered a problem employee. I know, I'm dreaming. Today is the last day of school. In fact they are all home by now since it was a half day. The library will now move into it's busy season. School is out, we actually get a lot busier, but the good thing is that 99% of the kids are in here with parents during the summer. Cuts way down on the number of kid problems that we have. I will hopefully try to read back and see what has been happening if today can stay quiet enough, but I'm not holding my breath. I will be getting my annual review on Friday. Good news, I get to keep my job and go to another branch. Bad news, no pay raise for the second year in a row. Oh, well. I am glad to have this job and I do mostly love my job. |

Thanks Ann. I wasn't very hungry until just now. All of a sudden I feel like I could eat my desk. Your desk would most likely not taste as good! You are all invited to come over this weekend for mountain pies. Or if you are busy this weekend we will do it again over the summer. If you come in October we usually have a hay ride then, too. OK, but I may just end up crashing there. Good food, hay rides, AND baseball fans??? Sounds like heaven! Ok. I'll make some space for you. You may have to bail hay to earn your keep, but I'll provide some pace booty for you during training rides in exchange. ![]() Bailing hay is no problem. I did grow up in the Midwest, after all. |

Deep breaths... in with the good... out with the bad. Do you want the Ghoulie Brute Squad to come down when school starts again and graciously show the youngsters how to behave in public? Can you ban them from the library? Can you give them things to do? Have them read during story time for younger kids or something constructive for them to do? Relax about the training. If you're hurt you're hurt. There is a time to HTFU and there is a time to take it easy. |

I think you will have no problem. Last week when they baled for the first time this year the bales were so light my 6 year old was lifting them. I don't expect that to be the case all the time though. |
