Good to have the refresher, but it is boring. Same stuff over and over. However,
having it drilled into my head has saved my bacon a couple of times out there at
haz spill sites.

Uh... have fun with that.

I'm supposed to be meeting the lady with the Shiloh's this weekend. She knows breeders, but has her own male and female and is thinking about breeding them. If I got a second puppy and a fourth dog I'd be sleeping out and the barn and I'd have to take them with me so I could stay warm.

I also sent away for information to volunteer for the PA State Animal Rescue Team. My friends with the German Shepherds are going to do it, I think I might, too.

What does the German Shepherd rescue team do. I assume rescue dogs in peril then try to find homes? I would love to be able to do that, except I would end up with a ton of dogs! I wouldn't be able to part with any.

It's not German Shepherd rescue, it's animal rescue in cases of emergency. Like if there is widespread floodging or something in my area I would help rescue maybe horses or cattle. Or even if I don't help rescue them I may be asked to house and care for the animals at my farm until they can be returned home. It's for any animals, livestock, family pets, what have you.

Now THAT would be a cool thing to do. We helped with animals from Katrina. That folks had to leave them still makes me tear up- so many animals died that didn't need to.

deehtz - 2010-09-28 10:07 AM Good Morning to all the Ghoulies out there!

Good morning, Dee!

Any more races coming up for you?

Good Morning Robin, Bill, and Ann!

This Sunday I am doing a 10K across a really cool bridge that spans the mouth of the Columbia river.  The bridge is 4.1 miles of the 10k.

wgraves7582 - 2010-09-28 7:15 AM Morning Dee!!  How is the PacNW doing?

Our weather is nuts!  One day the high is in the low 60s and the next it is 85*F.  I just hope that it is something reasonable for the race Sunday since the bridge WILL be windy!   Smile

I just read Amy's report of the race that she worked on!  WOW!!  Amy, that sounds like a ton of work (ahead of time and during)  but how satisfying to bring such an event into existence.  Good luck with your recovery!

When I was reading about it, the information said the #1 reason people won't evacuate is because they don't want to leave their pets behind. It would kill me to have to leave my pups behind. We can toss our belongings in the back of the pickup, the pups in the backseat, and my kids can get in the car, my husband and I drive. There's my evacuation plan.

Amazing, huh?  I can't quite picture it.  I will just have to set my mind to not be overwhelmed by the crowd.  However, I am looking forward to the experience!

I have a hill run planned for this afternoon.  About a 10k.  I will get home from work about 1 - 1:30 pm and will be hungry but need to start my run by 2 or 2:30.  What kind of things would you eat ... digest quick enough, enough energy for run, etc.?

I have finished my breakfast.  I have a puppy sitting on my lap.  I am all warm and cozy and enjoying time in the village.

But it is time to go to work.  Ah well... I will check back when I get home at lunch.

This.^^^^^^^^^ Though, I have to have my PB sammich early to get the PB to "settle" in my tummy. Yogurt is always good for me, too.

wgraves7582 - 2010-09-28 11:51 AM I keep forgetting to share - I had a dream last night I was doing the Underground Railroad again and it felt like I was leaving in the morning (today) - that is how real it was.

I was going back out to find my soul??????????????????????

Strange??????????????????????

I woke up ready to ride today - first time in a long time - but I didn't ride - too much rain

Sounds like you are over the burn out and ready to rock and roll on the bike again.

You know what they say about too much of a good thing. I think that's what happens when you focus on one thing for so long. A little separation and bang, the love comes back.

Applies to lots of things in life (not all mind you, but lots).

I hope so Robin.  I ride to work and I am exhausted the next day

It is like I have never ridden 40 miles before - SMH

But I think I overdid it a little upon return from the tour.  Now just some fun fall rides with beautiful leaves!

That aught to do it. Riding through leaves in the fall and mud puddles in the summer makes me smile like a manic kid!
