I swam for 40 minutes this morning.

Question about rules. I am planning on doing a good number of two-a-days in November. (For instance, I'm determined to run this afternoon). If I don't do two workouts on some days, I can't get 4 runs, 3 bikes and 2 swims in (as well as one short weight lifting session, but those don't count for the contest). We'll see if I actually do this, but that's the plan.

I assume that gets me one point per day, not per workout. Otherwise, we wouldn't be rewarding consistency. One could make up a missed workout just by doing two the next day.

Yep. Usual 11 k run and since it's 5 am Tuesday here now - time for  a bike ride.

Well, the point is frequency and working out every day. If you worked out twice in a day it is besides the point. The maximum number of points is 30, but a missed day (even if the day before you had a six hour ride and a run) will get you zero. If two or more people has thirty points, the tie breaker will be the overall minutes of S/B/R.

Thanks for the clarity - not that any of us are Type A competitive types...but I'm glad I know the rules.  I think the November Challenge is great - without it I would have likely rolled over and slept another hour this morning.

Day 2 done. 35 minute bike trainer ride, which is too short for my taste. (But I did get a 5 mile run in yesterday afternoon).

My plan was: get up at 5:45, start ride at 6:00, end ride at 7:00. Need to be done by 7:00.

Actual: Get up at 5:45. Mope around groggily, have coffee, check email, deal with cats, get bike stuff on, finally get going on bike at 6:24.

Next time I need to leave myself 45 minutes between the alarm and when I get on the bike.

Need to get some more outdoor runs in while it is still nice out. Lows in the 20's this weekend.

Day 2 done - 30 minute run.

Question - I am getting tightness in the arch of my left food leading to some discomfort that comes and goes while running.  Almost feels like a cramp.  The discomfort is closer to the ball of the foot than the heel.  Anyone experience this and did you find any stretches that helped.

Hey E, I'm visiting the parks in Orlando with my girls, but due to the high expectations for this challenge, was able to get two early morning 45 min runs on the hotel gym treadmills yesterday and today. Do I get any extra points for walking like 20k each day on the parks? Haha.Jackie, congrats on you AG win, you rock!Barry, sorry to hear about your fall, hope you get better and back on the bike soon!

That place can be extremely tiring and overwhelming, huh? I bet your little ones are having a blast and you too. Don't forget Jan. 1st Gabe, and you're more than welcome to look at my training history for those months to see what could be good for you.

Mitch, even though it's that far forward it still sounds like achilles tendonitis to me. In any case it seems like calf stretches will help. I'm fond standing on the edge of the steps with my toes and flexing the ankles downward. I've forgotten the exact name of that stretch.

Day two done, 31 minutes long run that I almost missed because of an exhausting day at work, but someone really annoyed me and the anger fueled my desire to run.

Thank God I didn't miss it, I feel great now. Tongue out

Salud to all!!

I think in general I need to do a much better job of stretching.  I've started doing some calf and foot stretched and also using a tennis ball like a foam roller for my foot.  Feels better today.  I switched shoes recently to a pair with a higher arch support (special insole for an old foot issue) - I think that might have put pressure on my left arch as it is a pretty low arch.  Switching back to another pair of shoes and will see how it goes.  Thanks for the comment!

No problem. By the way when my pain hit it was from exactly the circumstances you described (to the letter) and the ortho had me ditch the inserts.

How about we keep running totals ourselves in our daily posts?

So for me.

Today: 1 mile swim today, 34 minutes.

Total: 3 days. 2 hours, 34 minutes.

Then we just add each day to our running total.
