I'm out the door this morning to run a last minute trail marathon.  I haven't raced in nice weather in a long time, so I couldn't pass up the opportunity.  I'm considering it an expensive training run with all the support and camaraderie you get in a race environment.

Good luck to the other racers:  Caleb, Linda, and David (on May 5th??

Transitions?????  Practice.  Seriously, it seems a little silly, but get everything out and set up a transition area in your front yard.  It helps.

Hi, all.  It's been a while since I stopped in.  Just updated my logs finally.  I had not entered anything this month yet. Embarassed Hard to find time for everything!  Sounds like you all have been busy.  Congrats to those that have had races!  I can't wait to race!

I have been busy spending a grip of cash.  Got a running form analysis a few weeks back and am doing an overhaul on my form.  I think I posted a bit about that.  I have been having a bit of trouble with my left ankle and my calves are super sore.  So I am in the painful process of starting from zero again.  My long runs are 2 miles with walk breaks and my short runs are about .8 miles in the grass.  I went back to the same guy who did my running analysis and got a Retul fit on my new bike.  That was an awesome experience and my bike is so much more comfortable now.  Lastly, I signed up for a sprint in July.  Kinda scared since I didn't make it to the first one I signed up for.  I can swim and bike currently but I can't even run 2 miles without a break.  Sucks but it is what is.

My injuries are pretty good.  My knee is good.  I don't ice anymore.  My hip is still not 100% but seems to slowly be getting better.  Going to see a good chiro next week to work on that.

All right, enough blathering on.  Have a good week and happy training!

For transitions, I have found that beer in those new Miller Lite cans with the key punch tops can cut several seconds off ordinary cans or bottles.

HA! When I was catching up on this thread I missed this. That's awesome, David!

Good to hear from you, Margo.  It sounds like you are on the right track with your healing and training.  Keep logging those workouts....make it part of your daily routine.

Very quiet in here the last few days, but if anyone is interested my bib number for this weekends Ironman Australia Port Macquarie is 1214.

I've got a short run to do after work tonight, a 1 hour bike with a few 90 second accelerations tomorrow and a 45min swim Thursday morning then its into the car for the long drive South!

Post 'em and give us one highlight of the month! Tell us your May goals!

April's totals:
Bike:17h 19m  - 304.38 Mi
Run:14h 05m 48s  - 94.8 Mi
Swim:14h 54m
TRX:10h 10m
Walking:3h 55m

The best part of April is I spent 30 days in birthday month bliss!  It was basically a transition month for me so nothing super incredible happened.  May returns me to structured swimming and a much larger focus on improving my FTP.

Bike: 14hrs 28 mins 38s-203.9

Run: 5hrs 22mins 14s-31.53 mile

Swin: 4 hrs 26 mins 15s-9008yds

I hate the totals part! It seems like i have done so much, then i look at what everyones else does and seems like I didnt do much of anything.

Highlight of the month was finishing my first Multisport (dualthon) in under the time I picked when registering.

I have been tapering last week and this week. I will be competing in my first OLY this week. I hope to finish in under 4hrs

Okay Mike, if it makes you feel better, I haven't done a duathlon yet this year and I won't have done an Oly either.  See, you have done way more than some of us!!!  Focus on the prize, yourself.   You've come a very long way.
