No, David starts Sat at 5 pm Eastern (thanks, Trev), which is Sunday and Australia and Japan. And he's going to rock it.

Mike - Just bring a couple of trash bags along and drape them over your shoes and gear in transition. You can also put a bag over your bike seat and handle bars. What you wear depends on the temperatures you're used to. I would stick with tri shorts and short sleeves for 54 and rainy, but if you're used to warmer temperatures you might want a long sleeve shirt. I think a jacket will feel too hot. Avoid cotton, wear socks that fit snugly and won't stretch out when wet, and if it will be raining hard wear a visor or hat to help keep the rain out of your eyes on the run. Good luck!!

Good luck racers!  Hope you all rock it...no matter what time zone you are in!

As for cold wet weather, I am with Julia.  I will say that a few years ago, I tried to keep my running shoes dry with a plastic bag and someone got them uncovered during their transition so at the end of the day, it didn't really help.  Also consider that if it is really rainy, they are going to get we almost immediately anyway.  Careful with those slippery roads on the bike!

Good Morning all,

On the eve of my first Triathlon the forecast doesnt look good, 54 degrees and 90% chaince of rain. I would like some advice on what to do in not so ideal conditions. How to prevent transition items from being soaked, should i add clothes after the swim(was planning on wearing tri shorts and shirt think I may need more than that). Any other advice on racing in not ideal conditions could be helpful as well.

If it were me, I would put throw away arm warmers on once you get out of the H20 so you will have some warmth.  I cut the ends off of Paul's socks and use those.  Looks fine and works like a charm.  Ok, it may not look at cool as Kim's, but cheap!

Agree with Julia on covering your stuff with something plastic.  If you have a front mount H20 bottle you may also want to cover it or at least the straw so your fuel d oesn't become diluted.  Don't bother with the seat.  Your seat is already wet once you get on it!

Have fun and make us proud!!
