kns57 - 2010-05-26 2:07 PM Hello, I'm still alive.

Barely.

Okay, life is sucky right now.  First pulling the muscles in my back and now a sprained ankle.  I have no idea how I am going to manage to get through the sprint Tri on June 5th.  Three weeks of no training is sucky.

And, I'm being transfered to another library branch.  I'm trying to look on that as a positive.  BUT... it is the branch with the most afterschool problems with kids.  Luckily they are transfering me there now and I can get used to the branch over the summer before school starts back up with all of the problems in August.    Positive side is that they feel that I'm a strong enought manager and person to handle the problems at that branch.  Another positive, I will have more staff with about the same amount of circulation or maybe even a little less circulation.  So the staff is not so overworked as they are in my current branch.  Also, I will get to leave behind my two problem employees.  But who knows, I may be inheriting someone elses problem employees.  I do look on it as all of us starting with a clean slate, so hopefully we can work through everything and do away with anyone even being considered a problem employee.  I know, I'm dreaming.

Today is the last day of school.  In fact they are all home by now since it was a half day.  The library will now move into it's busy season.  School is out, we actually get a lot busier, but the good thing is that 99% of the kids are in here with parents during the summer.  Cuts way down on the number of kid problems that we have.

I will hopefully try to read back and see what has been happening if today can stay quiet enough, but I'm not holding my breath.

I will be getting my annual review on Friday.  Good news, I get to keep my job and go to another branch.  Bad news, no pay raise for the second year in a row.  Oh, well.  I am glad to have this job and I do mostly love my job.

CRAPOLA on the back AND the ankle! I hope the transfer is all good and there are no problem employees for you to deal with.

Well, that was a *speed read* but today was hoppin a bit. Lots of toppage to boot.  Ann, congrats on the 5000!  Robin, hope the lung goes back in ok.  Sounds like there are some great parties planned for this weekend.  I may have to crash all of them.  Mountain pies sound seriously yummy and have made me hungry even though I just ate lunch.  Tom, have a great time at the ball game with your son!  Bill, where do we sign up to follow the tour? Is it the registration page?  I'm game to add some miles to try and match Bill.

As for my M-Day weekend....the good news is I am actually here!  I usually have to work a meeting in Europe this weekend.  And, I have BonJovi tickets for Saturday night. First event in the new Meadowlands stadium.  Going with an old friend who moved a few years ago, but suddenly found himself traveling back to NJ when he heard I had tix.  I'm no fool.  Ha! Sunday is a cookout at a friends and then Monday is my green thumb day. Time to put some flowers, herbs etc into pots on the patio.

Hey Kendra! Way to look on the bright side about your shift to a new library. It really DOES mean a lot that they trust you enough to step into a difficult position like that. Goes to show that hard work never goes unpunished

I have to laugh because I'm friends with the Library Director.  I'm tempted to call her and say "Hey I thought that friendships were supposed to pay off in a good way, not land you the crapy jobs."  LOL  but I won't.  I'll grin and bear it.  You are right that it does mean a lot that they trust me to handle to position.

I have to tell you Kendra since you're here.

The kiddos LOVE geocaching. We went last weekend, and once during the week. We picked up another travel bug, which we will hide again this weekend.

I need to go resupply my stash of goodies, too, the kids cleaned me out!

My son has even been using the gps to nagivate to the coordinates. My daughter just uses my phone with the arrow telling her which way to walk, but she's young yet.

Deep breaths... in with the good... out with the bad.

Do you want the Ghoulie Brute Squad to come down when school starts again and graciously show the youngsters how to behave in public?

Can you ban them from the library? Can you give them things to do? Have them read during story time for younger kids or something constructive for them to do?

Relax about the training. If you're hurt you're hurt. There is a time to HTFU and there is a time to take it easy.

Thanks, I would love the Ghoulie Brute Squad to show up.  Yes, we can ban them from the library.  The biggest problem is the high school is directly accross the street, and the middle school (which is the bigger problem of the two) is on the same side of the street with a park inbetween us.  When the middle school lets out (over 3K students in there), it looks like a sea of ants exiting the building and making their way across the park to the library.  It is usually about 300 students every day who come over and wait for their parents to pick them up at the library thinking that the car rider line would be quicker at the library.  The library is not set up to handle 300+ students who arrive all at once and aren't really there for the library.  We can't hold any kind of program on a daily basis that would handle that numbe of kids either.  Luckily the community has been very involved with the library on trying to solve the problem.  I'm going to be picking the brain of the branch manager who is going to another branch (she has done her hazardous duty and now gets an easier branch to handle as a reward), so she is just a phone call away.

Yes, the geocaching is a lot of fun with kids, isn't it.  We haven't gone in so long and I wonder if the caches that we placed are even still out there.  I'll have to ask my hubby.  My son-in-law even did some caches when he was in Iraq.  He is now in Saudi Arabia, but I 'm not sure if there are any caches where he is now.  I guess I'll find out when he posts any.

That must be a night mare. Middle school kids are NOT my favorite on a good day. I guess skeet shooting is NOT an option.

I told my kids that I would order a kit this weekend and we would start our own. We live in BFE so I'm thinking of hiding it somewhere nearby. Possibly near the road though so I don't have people going through planted fields. Either that or for some reason the State Game Lands closest to us doesn't have any, that I know of, maybe we could hide it there.

Ghoulie brute squad on call! Let me know, I am 3 and 1/2 hours away, I can be there by the time school is out.
That must be a night mare. Middle school kids are NOT my favorite on a good day. I guess skeet shooting is NOT an option.

Isn't she in Georgia? I thought shooting at things was ALWAYS an option!

Hey Ghouls, check out "Relationship Advice" thread in CoJ.  Seriously funny and Ann has earned a new nickname.  I can't believe we all missed it. The E is explained. I feel way off my game. No more as I don't want to spoil the suspense.  But, seriously....go there.... now.

Why Ann has an *E* toppage.

Ok True Story...

Last Sunday I stopped down at my uber conservative inlaws on my way back from SAR training, my husband was down there with the kids. One of his brothers was down there with his wife, and their two kids as well. The one nephew is 2, he started taking his socks and shirt off and said he was hot.

Someone made a joke, and I said that was nothing. My daughter strips down to her underwear as soon as she walks into the house. My BIL said she must have learned it from somewhere. I wait until I'm back the hall so I can put them in the hamper, but it does feel good to walk around the house in my underoos. Then I said I've even gone out in the driveway in just my undies. My MIL's jaw about hit the table. The only house that can see my driveway is my husbands older brother. I like to wear Under Armour underoos, too and they cover just as much, or more, than my bikini. I thought it was funny that she couldn't believe I would walk around my house in my underoos.

My SIL said they would call from now on before stopping by. I told her that would be nice, or at least beep the horn when they pull in the driveway.

Well, I live in a townhome community so going out to the driveway in the underoos might cause an incident....or at least result in a warning letter from the homeowners association.  Now, when I lived in Scottsdale it was a different story.  Back yard was completely private.  When I got home in the summer after work/gym it was pool time.  No suit.  Heaven.
