My first Tri is not until August 7th (Niantic Bay with Kelly) so I have some time, but not a lot. I think I am going to just swim shallow in the local lake starting next week. I'll ride there, so it'll be good practice with tranistions at the same time. Kelly, if you have this weird guy hanging on to one of your legs during the swim, don't worry, it's only me!! On another note, I just downloaded "I'm Here To Win: Chris McCormack on the Kindle last night. Got half way through. It's not a long read, 300 pages or so. I'm still learning who athletes are in this sport. Apparently he's the cocky bad a$$ no one likes. While reading, I actually started to dislike him, simply due to his arrogance. But the further I got into it, you start to realize he's just confident, and his trash talking is all strategy, and it WORKS!!! Check it out, he's an amazing talent, who blew up and gave up at Kona a couple times, but then went on to win in 2007 and 2010, as the oldest ever. Its a good book. He reminds me of Mark Cavendish. I read it when it first came out and now Shaun is reading it. We can have book club once everyone is done with it. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2011 Part 2 - CLOSED Jeff/rizer - I love the pics from your son's triathlon! That is so cool. Does he like doing it? How old is he? My son has expressed an interest (he's 6), but I don't think he'd make the swim. He's still learning how to swim properly. He has lessons year round at his school, but he's still not there yet. Kelly - Great photos of the whale. Is that a Beluga? Carrie - How can you tell your shoes are worn after only 200 miles? Mine have always looked great after 400 (so much so that I've questioned spending the $ on more so soon). I've always just replaced them when I hit that mile mark because I've been told to do so. My mom sent me a TYR transition bag as a gift....for no reason. It's really nice! |

The race was an awesome experience! I learned a lot, too. I had a panic attack in the water. It felt like my wetsuit was sqeezing my chest, and then I couldn't breathe. I guess I just need to swim in it more. I could have pushed harder on the bike. Also, I got a 2:00 penalty because my race number fell off during the run (LOL....I guess I had to learn the hard way ). Can't wait to do another..... |

Not road rash thankfully, but his ears might still be ringing from my yelling at him!!! I can laugh now, but it wasn't so funny this am. He was very cautious the rest of the run Anybody run with their pups? Will a harness work better? He is still on the prong collar I usually use.
i tried running with my Labrador, but after a mile i gave up, she was too interested in everything else than running, lol. Nothing like being in mid stride and she would decide to stop all of a sudden because she smelled something. i run in the woods with the dog. she knows the trails better than me. she also plays with the coyotes, which freaks me out. |

Apparently she is driving up from New York to give the judge a piece of her mind about me. It will not go well for her. Sigh. |

Pro 4672 Nutmeg State | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2011 Part 2 - CLOSED For those of you don't know, Cav is a sprinter who rides for HTC-Highroad. In three years, he’s won 26 stages in the Grand Tours, 15 of those in the Tour de France, as well as a win in Milan-San Remo and in races all over the calendar. |

(everyone else, follow me to the bomb shelter) Shaun introduced me to Cav by forcing me to watch hour after hour of TdF coverage, so my obsession is all his fault. Where's Lance? |

And of course he has more stage wins, that's the nature of the Sprinters, I don't think it speaks to his overall cycling talent. He's a great sprinter and that's it. |
