Oh sad! One single gold star. How ill-fitting.

So funny, we had a long discussion about the term this weekend.

Care to share?

Ok assuming you know what I am talking about

Friend A: Gold star right here (raises roof)

Friend B: I don't see what the fuss is about. I don't think you should get a star for that, or anything golden for that matter

Friend A: What? Why? I'm proud of that

Friend B: I believe stars and gold should be earned by who has done more. There shouldn't be awards for those who have done less.

A silence goes over the group

Me: So, once you've boned a MtoF in the back of your parents station wagon, perhaps THEN you can get a gold star?

Friend B: Perhaps.

Bahaha.  I thought you were talking about the term 'wife'...

Psssh no!

Oh man! Yeah, sometimes I think I should just transcribe some of our conversations and make a book of it.

It gets pretty ridiculous. Even for Manatee standards.

My morning conversations with myself daily: Well ironman just do the swim write off this season and do properly next seasonTwo seconds later: well take a day off do a five hour trainer ride then go to the park and ride a bit. In fact do three six hour trainer rides in the next three weeks and just an hour or to on the road/track and you got this....I think the weather on the day will decide!!!

Aaaaaaand the Mana-men are frightened into silence again!  Laughing

I tried to just talk running! Problem is, that's boring. Smile

You 2 are going to make the male manatees heads' explode

Not silent...had to work.. Now I'm back...and now I have to go to lunch with a friend, but I had to comment.

As for making "male manatees heads' explode" - I was going to say, "I already exploded"... then I thought, "No, that's too much, even for Manatee's".... then I thought "NOTHING is too much for this pod"......

So, I'll just say... slow down ladies, or both my "heads" might explode! *

Too much?

As you were ladies!

My sincere apologies for dropping out of here for awhile.  For the last month or so it has been extremely rare for me to be in the same State for more than two days at a time.  Then I felt bad about not showing my face around here for a few weeks and sulked a bit.

So here I am, back and hopefully back at it!

Welcome back!

Seriously, don't worry if you have to drop off every now and again. We've all got things that take priority over the manatees every now and again. Wink

Sounds like you have been BUSY!

*** Background Check Update ***

I called the HR lady today, asked if there was anything that I could do.  She informed me that she would try to find out what it was, and get back to me.

Called me back an hour later:

1990 (I was 18 years old)... misdemeanor theft conviction.

I said to her... "Do they know that I'm 41 now?"

She laughed and said she also thought it was ridiculous...

We had a really good talk... I asked her.. "Out of curiosity, how well did I test?"

Her "You were in the top 5"

I'm crushed... I know this job career is perfect for me.  I can't believe they would even look back that far, and if they do, why the F would they hold a misdemeanor from 23 years ago against you?  Even if they hold it against you, why would a misdemeanor be an automatic disqualifier?  Did I mention that it was a GD misdemeanor?

I still have a little bit of hope though... I looked into getting it expunged from my record.  According to the Oregon State Statutes, I am eligible to have it expunged from my record.  The process takes 8 - 12 weeks.  One snag is the cost.  Total of all the fee's will be in the neighborhood of $500.  I don't have that sitting around.  I will work out something though.  (Salty, are you ready for that swim coaching? LOL)

The HR lady said that my test scores are good for 6 months.  She said they are starting another round of testing in March for another class.  We had a great rapport and she said she was hoping that it would work out.  She told me... "I'm so sorry, I was rooting for you"

Going to see about expediting the expunction somehow... Wish me luck.  I really, really want this job CAREER.

Well, I see a lot of good news there. At least you know, and might even be able to take care of it.

And the fact they are keeping your testing stuff on record is great.

Which location are you applying at?

Good news that you can have it expunged!  Bad news that they are 'holding it against you'...  Well, get 'er done, and get back in there in March!

I like "expunction" better..

In case you think that's not a real word... from the Jackson County Circuit Court website...

"Determine if your conviction or record of arrest is eligible for expunction."
