ceilidh - 2010-02-13 7:46 AM Morning Ghoulies.
Kim, I didn't want you to drink alone so I had some wine with you last night. We got a good 5 inches of snow. Quite the surprise. It was/ is the perfect kind. light an fluffy with no wind. it is all over the trees but not weighing them down like the last snows we got. No broken branches or trees.

Going to paint and get on the drainer today. I have been slack on workouts this week but time to get on the ball.

I have the dogs ready to let loose to hunt out our missing Ghouls.

I too had a couple of glasses last night.  Boy did that put me out.  I slept like a rock last night!

Thanks guys!!! I don't particularly like drinking along (but I'll do what I have to do Innocent)  I slept fairly well under the circumstainces.  Spent a bit of time at the coffee shop this morning.  Now I think I'll head out for some stress reduction in the sneaks.

Get your workouts in this weekend!

Snowed in!  In Georgia!  I know, all you northerners are laughing at the south being snowed in with just 3-4 inches of snow.  But you have to realize that most southerners do not know how to drive in the snow and ice.  I'm a transplanted northerner, but I learned my first snow storm in GA to stay off the roads.  Not because I couldn't drive in it, but to stay out of the way of the southerners who think they can and careen into you.  LOL

Anyway, it has shot my whole weekend.  Swimming was out last night and today due to the weather.  The motorcycle club was having it's annual Sweetheart Poker Run which is our fundraiser.  I don't know if anyone has showed up, but since my street is snow covered ice and a hill, and we live an hour away, we are not even attempting to leave.  My son had to go to work (stupid job) and it took him over an hour to drive what usually takes him 25-30 minutes.  He called and told us to not go out unless we had to.

The Library is going to open late today at noon.  Glad it is my day off, but feel bad for my staff who have to go in.  Most of them live within 2-3 miles of the library so that isn't too bad.

Tomorrow was our last tennis match of the season.  Unless the temp gets up there and melts everything today I don't think we will be playing tomorrow.

Then they are predicting more snow on Sunday night to Monday morning.  And Monday is my day off.  Dang it!

Hope that everyone else is having a great weekend.

kcarroll - 2010-02-12 2:39 PM Greetings Ghouls.  Well, I'm home and boy are things a mess.  The fire actually started 2 units down from me.  There is nothing left inside, but at least for now they think structural damage is minimal.  No word on the cause yet.  The other units in the building have severe smoke and water damage and the roof will have to be replaced.  Initial estimates are that none of the 4 will be liveable for at least 6 months, maybe 9.  One of the couples that has a unit in the building is quite elderly and the wife has alzheimers.  My heart goes out to them.  Thankfully, and most importantly, everyone got out.

My house has a *tinge* of smoke odor, but nothing terrible.  The biggest hassle is I can't get in my driveway.  Not just with my car, but even on foot is a challenge.  The snow plows didn't plow very wide and the generator trucks and smoke/water damage trucks have it totally blocked. I suspect I might have to forego the garage quite a bit in the next several months if I don't want to get blocked in.  Hardly worth griping about in the greater scheme of things.  It is going to be a hassle and get old though.  This is a quiet community and the thought of living next door to 6-9 months of construction is not appealing.  Oh well.  It is what it is.

I think my first glass of wine is fast approaching.  Notice I said first.  There will be a second. Maybe a third.

All for now.  Smokey the Bear "out"

Hey Kim, I'm very sorry to hear about the situation of your neighbors. I'm just glad that nobody was hurt. Homes can be rebuilt, but at least there was no major tragedy. Any word on where these folks will be able to stay?

Thanks Tom.  You're right, the most important thing is no one was hurt.  The unit where the fire started is a total loss.  The owner splits his time between here and an apt in NYC, so he's fine.  My neighbors also have a 2nd home down at the shore, so they have options although they will need to find someplace nearby to oversee this mess.  The other two couples are elderly and I don't really know what options they have.  Very sad for all of them.

Kim, really sorry to hear about the situation in your neighborhood.  Glad that two of the couples have options.  Hopefully everything will work out for the other two couples.  Fire can be so devastating.  Glad that you are okay.

disturbed275 - 2010-02-13 6:15 AM Drainer ride on tap this morning and then I get to attempt a 6 mile run!  It'll be my longest since the injury!

Then I'm thinking about catching a movie later, but that will depend on how lazy I am.  It may seem pertinent to just lounge about the apartment all night

Good luck on the run Neal! Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Drat! I was trying to post some new pictures here for you guys, but the files are over 100 kb and I'm too dumb to figure out how to insert a link to them without the dreaded red x showing up instead. Well, I guess if you guys want to see my new bike p0rn you'll just have to click on my album.

She's a Specialized Tarmac Elite and I took her out for the first time today after pulling the trigger and buying her last night. It was interesting to be out on the road to say the least. There was plenty of traffic and red lights, and I even got to get cut off by a few cars just pulling into the bike lane (thank God we HAVE them here) and stopping for no apparent reason. Man it felt good to be out though!

More good news is that the ride did NOT make my left leg feel sore at all, so I'm hoping I'll be able to log some miles while I take my break from running. I definitely need to get the engine into shape before I go for any tris this summer, and my sit bones definitely need some acclimation as well They're still sore from the stationary bike ride on Thursday, but today's ride didn't hurt too bad even though I wore tri shorts (which I bought in lieu of bike shorts).

HEY GHOULIES.

thanks for your concern.

im good.

just busy.

the boys were back to school on Friday.  i worked at the Y early in the morning, and had the most spectacular lunch in the afternoon (w the guy who wants to whisk me away to someplace warm/sunny.  were making plans!)

today i did a 4 hour spintacular, hangin' w my friend who is WILL qualify for Kona this year.

NOT bad huh?

im enjoying a lovely glass of White Zinf and will be tucking myself in bed in a bit.  two 4 am mornings in a row and 4 hours of spinning can wear on a girl.

im working tomorrow at the Y 11-6...i had plans to take myself out in an act of affirmation that LIFE IS MOVING FORWARD, AND LOVE IS COMING TO ME IN ALL MANNER WAYS...but i think im gonna spend a quiet evening at home this year.

Valentines day is just weird this year.

but NEXT YEAR.
MY INTENTION.
it'll be VERY DIFFERENT.
I'LL SEE TO THAT.

the inertia is getting to me, just a tad.

but im hanging in there.

and im gonna be better than good.

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY GHOULIES.  [lifting my glass]
sloppy kisses and ghoulie hugs.

CHEERS!

My first multi-sport event is in the books!  I did the duathlon today.

I quite a bit better than I expected!!  Laughing

I was able to maintain my fastest training pace on the bike, so that was good.  But even better I ran at least 2 minutes faster than my expected run pace.  I didn't even know that I could do that!  I have never even run that fast on the treadmill!!  Whoo hoo!

(And as an added bonus, I wasn't quite last.  Undecided  feel a little guilty being so pleased about that, but I am!)

Oh yeah, I did a race report too on our little event!

Going to paint and get on the drainer today. I have been slack on workouts this week but time to get on the ball.

I have the dogs ready to let loose to hunt out our missing Ghouls.

I too had a couple of glasses last night.  Boy did that put me out.  I slept like a rock last night!

Awww. What nice gouhlies we have in our village!!!!
