Morning everyone!  I had an epic fail at an attempted run last night.  It was 93* and humid.  Started out and just gave it up before I got even a mile out.  Turned around and went home.  Grrrrrrr.  So, I will be running in the mornings with Ann.  However, I'll be getting up at 4:45 and out the door at 5am as I don't get to the office until 8 or 8:30 most days.

Question for the group.....Anyone have an espresso/latte machine that they really like and would recommend?  I was a diet coke drinker most of my life and went cold turkey off that carp a few years ago. I'm still mostly caffeine free (vanilla gu's don't count) but have started to develop a decaf latte habit that is getting to be expensive.  Am thinking I need to home brew/steam but not sure what to buy.

I hear ya sistah!

The past few evenings there was NO WAY I would have been able to run with the heat and humidity. It is supposed to be mid 90's here today and they are calling for severe storms this afternoon with high winds and hail possible. I don't have to worry about it because I already have my run in for the day.

Do you eat, or plan on eating anything that early in the morning? I just have a little water and out the door I go. When my runs get a little longer in the mornings I will probably need something.

My BFF has an AWESOME one, does the grinding and everything, but it costs around a grand. That's more than I wanted to spend. I like the one I have, I'll check what it is tonight and let you know.

A grand is not what I had in mind.  That is bike fund kind of money.   A couple hundred would be on the high end, although since I've been *treating* myself 2 or 3 times a week lately it will pay for itself fairly quickly.

This is what I have. As you can see I didn't spend a lot on it, but it works well and I like it.

My sister has one that she bought from Starbucks, I think she spent around $400 on it.

Wooowww...Wonder what will happen tomorrow? Crazy crazy crazy. At one point they were comparing it to doing an Ironman! Haha.

Except they get 19 hours of rest in between 5 hours of play each day.  No comparison.

I usually just have a vanilla gu and 16 oz or so of water when I get up and that's it.  When I did my HM training, I was fine for up to 5 miles on that.  On longer runs on the weekends I typically have some toast or something light when I get up and then a gu just before going out.  When the weekday runs start to get longer, I'll probably just carry another gu to suck down after 5 miles or so.

mndymond - 2010-06-23 4:47 PM Well I'm recording BP and blood flow right now...rockin fun...

Found some photos from the weekend...I swear I'm just this crazy stocky chick..haha...I want to be dainty! Yell Ha!

You are a crazy PAM and don't you forget it!

I still want to be dainty! Yell (harumph.!)

My friend just messaged me this: you are fast, if you wanted to be small you should have just skipped the whole ironman thing and done weight watchers...

Yell

Haha. Woe is me.

Is that where we all went wrong?  LOL

Apparently...Haha.

Big and healthy is WAY better than small and unhealthy!

Let me remind you...

I have thunder thighs
And that's a compliment
Because they are strong
and toned
and muscular
and though they are unwelcome
in the petite section
they are cheered on in marathons
thirty years from now
I'll bounce a grandchild on my thunder thighs
and then I'll go out for a run
just do it

AND

My shoulders
aren't dainty
or proportional to my hips
some say they are like a man's
I say, leave men out of it
They are mine
I made them
In a swimming pool
Then I went to yoga
and made my arms
just do it

Nicely said!

Wish my doctor would agree.  And my bloodwork.  sigh...

So...I don't know if I have much energy to spread around. Haha...Maybe you could take half from me and I'll convince old man Neal to give you the other half? Tongue out (He's only 6 yrs older and I have iron deficiency anemia...that at least puts us on the same energy scale )

Also...I have a question: The Aussies are hear for a few more days--prob early next week or so. And well I kinda like hanging out with them and nottrainingquitesomuch....so can I get away with maybe not swimming and cut back the training hours there? (I figure I can get away with that one??? hmmm)

I know I'm turning 30 in 6 months, but that is harsh!

Oh, and if you're going to cut any training out, might as well cut out your strongest sport and the one that needs the least training for a HIM.
