Sorry that I've been MIA over the last several weeks. I've felt somewhat disconnected from triathlon as my swim and bike training has been next to nothing since my last tri in August. I've been focusing mostly on the run as I had a half marathon this past weekend.

I was right on my goal for the race - 1:22:58 (6:20 pace) and finished 3rd overall. Somewhat hilly course, especially from 5-8 miles. Mile 11 is also pretty tough.

What a beautiful fall weekend we had in NW PA.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend..I enjoyed watching the live feed yesterday as Crowie was very impressive then watched Wellington hang on to win.. Dam I wish I could just run that fast..(lol) So what are everyone's plans in the near future..

I have a 10k in two weeks then a half marathon a couple of weeks after that...Hope you all have a great week..

It was a great race!

I wouldn't even care if I ran that fast I would just like to look like it was that easy!

Thanks everyone!  My friend has some booties I can try out and I will make sure and get a neoprene cap.  I already wear earplugs for the reasons mentioned above so I have that covered Wink.

It is going to be a cold and rainy on Saturday and I have a rest day in preparation for my half marathon on Sunday. I am excited to put my feet up and watch the live stream of the Hawaii Ironman from my computer to the TV without feeling any guilt for not training. Anybody else planning on tuning in?

I am heading to Pittsburg to see the Steelers play Sunday so I'll have to catch Hawaii on the TV broadcast.  Good luck with your half Sunday!!

Anyone else racing this weekend?

Not racing.  Ramp up after recovery continues. I have been doing computrainer workouts this week with some single pedal drills, high cadence drills, some tempo efforts.  Starting to feel like the winter routine.  This weekend it's in the 80s so I'll be outside for some VO2 drills on Sat and a longer tempo ride on Sunday.  I'll run in there sometime too.  I have a speaking gig on Saturday which will break up things a bit.  Next weekend is a ride with Robbie Ventura of Vision Quest a former Lance Armstrong teammate on Postal and a party to celebrate the year with the VQ downstate gang.  It's going to be fun.  Then surgery on the 19th and a careful ramping up again into the winter workouts. Still trying to pick a half IM to focus on for next year.  The Muncie one would be too damn hot for me I think.  Thinking more of Racine or a new Rev3 in Wisconsin Dells or Branson in September.

I missed your surgery comment the first time I read this Ice, nothing serious I hope!!

Tough sometimes to find a race that fits perfect.  September can be a fickle month with weather all over the board.

Hernia.  Had it since July 2010 when I fell on a training run at night.  Couldn't stop to fix it so I dealt with it through IM.  Now time to get it done.  Not a big deal.

Actually I have my 10K that had been postponed because of the hurricane a month ago. We were supposed to be away this weekend so I didn't pay attention to it then our plans changed and now I can do it. I kind of messed up the day though, thought it was going to be Sunday I just realized its tomorrow.Crap and my legs are sore from running yesterday. Oh well atleast I don't have to swim or bike before this run.

Hey, folks! Sorry I haven't checked in for a while. Had some computer issues that kept me offline most of the time. I am looking forward to catching up with everybody's logs.

Steve- well done on your HM!

Adam- Hope your 10K went well.

Kathleen- A little more than a month to IMAZ, pretty exciting!

I decided to do a duathlon tomorrow for one last multisport race this season. I don't really feel ready, but it's short, 5K, 15 mile, 5K, so hopefully I won't faint.

Have a great weekend everybody!

It went pretty well I shaved a couples minutes off my time from last year. I had a few friends racing and one hadn't raced in a while. She was right behind most of the race but unfortunately I didn't know until we crossed the finish line.

I hope everyone had a great weekend.  It was (is) cold and rainy here, so stuck inside aaaalll weekend.  Today at the gym decided to try the row machine (Concept II) and I really enjoyed it.  Will definately have to add it to my routine over the winter (especially if I am still not running).  Has anyone else tried the rowing machines as they are always empty at my gym?

I have used them a bit but not much.  I think a lot of swimmers use them and those who swim but can't get in the water as often as they would like.

I have used them as warm up before strength training, but I beleive that Kathleen is right, swimmers like to use them.  It is a good workout!
