Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Good morning all! I got in a run this morning. I'm supposed to hit the pool late tonight, but my husband was up vomiting all night and decided to stay home from work, so we'll see if I can make it to the gym once the kids are in bed. If not, then perhaps I'll squeeze in a trainer ride or something. The area around my left ankle bone hurts when i run. Anyone know what this could be? My youngest is 2 today Can't believe I'm so close to moving beyond the diapers stage. I've been wiping butts for the last 7 years. LOL Andrew - Congratulations on your race! Sorry about your bike. I would definitely take it in. Karen - Did you catch yourself with your arms at all when you fell? You could have strained your triceps (odd but possible, I'm sure). Congratulations on your race! Carrie - Nice job! Looks like you had lots of fun. Kelly - Tell us more about your weekend...... Jeff (sklarz) - Glad you were able to run and breathe at the same time Hope all the winter sickness is behind you now. |

Master 2151 Johns Creek, Georgia | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Happy Birthday Freddie! Yes, I'm sure I caught myself with my hands/arms because my hands were caked in mud when I got up. I just can't believe a fall would make my triceps feel like I've lifted a ton of weights. Still sore today, very odd. Kelly - do please tell us more about your weekend. |

Extreme Veteran 3020 | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Ok, I've officially strained the area around my ankle (or even worse, fractured it). No running for me until this pain eases. Who knows....perhaps it will feel better tomorrow, but as of now it's only cycling and swimming. |

Regular 1777 Auckland, North Island | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Jen, sorry to hear about your injury. Take it easy for a few days and look after yourself. I'm sure we're all hoping its a sprain, not a fracture. Weigh in: Once again I'm up on weigh in day than I was the day before, almost a pound on yesterday... But the good news is I'm down on last Tuesday. So hopefully heading in the right direction again. This week, 237.7lbs. |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Oh, WOW, that is what we get for technology and getting tagged on FB. This is, I think, the entire group of women that went to do the race. Only about 4 of us have ever done a 1/2 before, so we supported those who hadn't. My time was about 3:08, probably the easiest half I have ever done (time helped obviously). I was doing the Galloway plan with a friend who was just cleared from a heart condition a few months ago. I was terrified for her and constantly, "what is your HR, do we need to slow down?". It was a great race and lots of fun. I kept it very cheap! Which is why I was able to do it. Flew in Saturday, out Sunday. Quick trip. Here are a few Pics: The bib, because I may never see a "B" corral again, the haggard looking princess outfit, and yes a pic from the Animal Kingdom (view from our room). They actually drive around throwing food out and placing food in the trees (for the giraffes) so the animals will walk around so all rooms can see them. From someone who has had over 20 ankle sprains and reconstructive ankle surgery -- be nice to it. How did you strain it? I am a supinator, so there is a lot of stress on the outside of my feet. When I was running yesterday, I started to feel a sharp pain above my ankle. It's right above the bony knob. It hurts when I run, walk, climb stairs, and put pressure on it. I didn't feel any pain in the pool yesterday, and I only felt pain when I stood on the bike today (so I stopped getting out of the saddle...LOL). I have it wrapped up nicely right now, and it feels good. Any idea what this could be? I don't think it's the actual ankle. Anyway, I'm giving it until Thursday, and then I'll ask for imaging if it doesn't feel better. Gordie puked all night long, and Madge woke up with pinkeye. I ate Gordie's leftover cake last night (with his fork!), so we'll see if it heads my way. My house is so nasty right now. I think it's going to be in the 50s tomorrow, and you'd better believe that these windows will be open. |

I settled for the sofa. Swimming half asleep is interesting to say the least. Will get in a trainer session at lunch. Coffee is going to be my friend today.
Oh and I found one jogging trail out of the Polynesian, yes I'm going to be that guy, does anyone know of cool places to run at Disney? |

Master 1832 Elgin, IL | Subject: RE: kaburns1214 Mentor Group 2012 - CLOSED Also, you can run on the streets that go around the resort ... Coronado is a huge circle, maybe 1.5-2 miles per loop. You just take a shuttle down there and shuttle back. |

I think it's going to be in the 50s tomorrow, and you'd better believe that these windows will be open. I'm an extreme suprinator with ankle instability and have both sprained my ankle over 20 times, had a stress fracture and break in my Fibula (which is the bone on the outside of the lower leg) and had issues with the peroneus brevis (the muscle on the outside of the lower leg) and the fibularis brevis (the tendon the connects the peroneus brevis to the tibia). The fact that it hurts when you put pressure on it (especially the fact that the pain occurs when you stand on the bike but not in the pool) makes me really concerned that you may have a stress fracture in your tibia. When I had that stress fracture, I had similar symptoms and wrapping it tightly made it feel much better. I decided I could work through the stress fracture and ended up with a full break and was in a cast for 6 weeks. You should go see the doctor. If nothing shows up on the x-ray, you might want to request a bone scan. Until you have an actual medical diagnosis I would not run (other than deep water running -- this also means no elliptical) I would keep things aerobic (and seated) on the bike and be careful about pushing off walls on the swim.
