Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed I had thought that my back would feel great after resting it for most of Thursday and Friday... but I woke up slightly sore. I decided to rest it a bit and devote the time to family since my wife is working this weekend. However, I will workout tomorrow or else I'm not going to let myself brew an IPA I have planned. The plan is to brew an IPA with Citra hops - we'll add them late in the boil to get more floral than bitter notes.... I just want to recommend again the book Iron War... the book I mentioned earlier in the week about the 1989 Kona race. If you don't know anything about that race - google it or watch the highlights on google. It is perhaps the greatest IM ever run and the time is still the record on Kona 23 years later... If you love a good read, this book will do you right. I'll post the goal chart tomorrow. PS - If you're the praying kind, a job just opened up at a school in Cleveland that would be perfect I plan on working on the cover letter tomorrow... If your not - please keep your fingers crossed. |

David, have you ever tried banana whip? Take a ripe banana, peel, cut into small pieces and freeze. Put it in food processor and add liquid until like soft ice cream. add favourite topping. Amazingly like soft serve ice cream. Lenny, stay consistent and you will begin to see results in weight loss and better workouts! Charles nice job on the cycling! Kevin, Trader joe=cheap beer that ain't to bad. Lemon...wouldn't that make it a fruit beer now? Chris, welcome to the group! At least you didn't list fruit beers...just kidding David! Sounds yummy! |

Here is my personal challenge to you. During the month of March, I pledge to work out for 30 minutes at least 30 times (30/31 Challenge). If I fail = warm coors light is the only beer I will drink for a week. If you fail = warm fruit beer is the only thing you can drink for a week. You in? Who is with me? I am in on that Challenge David! Yes - but which is the greater motivator - avoiding the silver bullet or the fruit beer I'm in. I only petition the BDAS that I may make mine a pace orientated goal as I pledge to get back to 7:20 or below minute miles sustained over my 6.2 or 8.2 mile runs. (this was pace prior to ruining hip playing hockey, currently running an 8:00/mi pace at those distances) I will come close to 30/31, but difficult to do when only running distance as I tend to need 2 days rest most weeks. If I fail, I will succomb to a shock top raspberry 6 pk. for a week. If you can cruse at a 7:20 pace without causing injury...go for it...promise to listen to your body? |

Extreme Veteran 968 Cape Coral, FL | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed OK David I thought about it and figured a number...thanks for pushing me or I would have never done it. Since I am still gimped I am going for 20/31. That works out to 4 swims a week and 1 yoga a week. If Wed the doc clears me to cycle and/or run, I am going for +11 to that and will be on board fully for the 30/31 even with or without the run. |

Expert 1058 Fallon, Nevada | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed First outdoor bike ride today, 23 + miles. My focus was on my pedal stroke since I believe this is seriously limiting in my cycling ability. Tomorrow a run and swim are scheduled but I plan to add a bike session, riding to the pool and back which is about 20 miles round trip. Lofty goals for sure but it can be done and that my friends will keep me ahead of the game for the 30/31. I should do yoga but we have baby chicks in my exercise room and they kinda kill the yoga vibe with all their chirping and their baby chick stink! Nutrition wise I have had a terrible sweet tooth lately and mindlessly eat candy at work. And once someone said, "I don't get the scale", and well, I don't get the scale. I fluctuate from morning to night up to two pounds! The other day I lost two pounds from 6am to 11pm but at 6 am the next morning gained them back. |

Double whammy It was a nice day out...slow only a little over 15 miles an hour but nice to get off the trainer and spend a lot of the ride in the aero bars. Is it crazy that I find riding in the aero bars sooooo much more comfortable than in the drop position? |

Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed hey all, Out with friends until 0200 and then 0530 bike ride at 32 degrees. I am still shaking. Cold for us Texans. It is supposed to warm up to 72 degrees and I hope to do some action with the boys today outside. Great local IPA last night from Lakewood Brewery. 6.4% alcohol. Just on and half a glass of Cab. The best part of working out early in the am is it helps me keep on the straight and narrow the night before. Enjoy Sunday everyone! |

Kinda nervous it is only two weeks from today and not being able to get any training in most of this week is making me wonder how it will go. Especially since this will be my very first race ever of any kind. Well just have to do it and see how it goes! |

Actually on of the great things about tri is that it has gotten me in shape, I make (mostly) better choices and I was able to play at the park with the kids later in the day instead of taking a nap. We had an intense game of soccer. I really needed some sprints and lateral movements to help with my hip. |

I know I posted it late - but be sure to fill in the goal sheet with your goals for the week. Proud to report that I managed to pull my butt out of bed this morning for some Yoga. I'm trying out Yin yoga which works on stretching the facia and connective tissue by having you hold your poses for 5 minutes. It was very relaxing in the moment - but based upon how sore I am, I'd say I might want to start slow and work up to those 5 minutes : ) Back still hurts... it's my lunch hour and I am icing it as I type... my students think it's hilarious that I'm walking about like an old man. Hey gramps - where's your cane? Funny... not |
