Happy Father's Day to all the dads in the group!!!!

I had to change my training schedule a bit for my husband.  He's always picking up the slack so I can get my workouts in, and I figured he needed a day off from that.  I got up early and ran an easy 3 miles.....let him sleep in (kids played Wii in basement while I ran)...now I'm making waffles and bacon for him.  It's all about him today; he's an awesome father!

Also, I'm looking forward to eating a bunch of crap tonight at a picnic.  I LOVE picnic food and just can't help myself - burgers, eggs, corn on the cob, etc.  Yummy!!!!

Happy Fathers Day to all the dads. Today my husband got up early with me, kayaked @ the lake while I swam, and then he drive home while I did a solo bike ride. When he got home he said fathers day is just like every other day, Karens day. Oops! He was kidding, he's very supportive of me. I'm fortunate. Now we are headed downtown to his favorite Thai place for lunch. Sports bar with our son for dinner and lots of beers later.

Congrats Jeff & Rudy.

How did Kelly do, or is that today?

I just had a long training day -- no "racing" for me.

bryancd - 2011-06-18 7:24 PM Here was a tough one today. Almost 70 miles on the bike where I had to do 10mion intervals at Half Ironman race pace with 5min recovery for the entire ride. And there was a fair bit of climbing. Image and video hosting by TinyPic ...and then an hour run off this ride and the temps where starting to push towards 100. It was rough but it was a good one.

Nice ride.  That is some serious climbing.

Long weekend for me.  7-ish hours of swim-bike-run on Saturday then a 3 hour drive from Patriot to Hanover, NH for my 10 year reunion.  Back to the hotel late on Saturday night and up at 5 a.m. for a 10 mile run, then more driving home to CT and now another bike and run.

I feel jet lagged.

yo yo...mentee peeps, thanks so much for the kind words. I hurt like MF'ing hell.  But my calf feels great and that is what is important. What i had not talked about with anyone was i strained it pretty bad during the sprint two weeks ago, i was seriously concerned about it. Lotsa RICE and stretching and light easy runs. I wanted no excuses for my half, and if i failed miserably, i woulda just chalked it up to going too hard on the bike, not injury.  That being said, i very rarely pat myself on the back, i am my own worse critic, other than that one post about coaching that went on for about an hour, lol!!! But i freaking nailed this race and am quite happy with the result. That being said, it would not have been as special without knowing all of you and the kind words and encouragement that we give each other on a weekly and daily basis, so thank you all for that!!

I rode to the Moosup Tri course, then did a TT to see where I am at. A few short and steep climbs mixed in, the rest flat. One section of the road, about a mile long, is in extremely poor condition. Pot holes everywhere etc. I wonder if they ever actually drove/rode the course to see this. You hit that section rwice ont he out and back loop. It is close by to a concrete factory, so assuming the trucks in and out cause this. Averaged 19.2 mph for those 12.2 miles. Rode home after that and hit a few big long climbs.Maybe a little more work will get me over 20mph!!

I just got back from my vacation. I managed to sneak in a couple of workouts. I was on a cruise ship so my arms are sore from lifting the fork to my mouth. I gain 10 lbs in a week. Hope everyone had a great fathers day.

congrats on the racers this weekend. We are in the middle of a downstairs bathroom remodel. Heading down the stairs carrying a load of lumber I miscalculated and thought I was at the bottom when I had two stairs to go. Needless to say the fall was not pretty. Strained neck, bruised knees and rt forearm kept me from participating in my reverse tri-plus it rained and was low cloud cover for the 10 pm start-. SH***t that is two in a row-not shaping up to be the year I had planned

We really need to sit down and you show me how to do stuff like this, and post pics to your daily log. Us old timers have a hard time with all this computer stuff.

thanks for hyperlinking it!!

How is Shaun feeling??

I agree - Kelly should school us on all this high tech stuff.  I still can't figure out how to post a picture, although the one I put up of Tom Boonen last week worked.  That was done from my work PC, so I can only assume it's different when it comes to my Mac.  Or maybe it's the browser (Firefox)?  Anyway, I'm horrible and I'm usually able to figure stuff out pretty quickly when it comes to computers.

Nice job Rudy!

Quick 4 miles on the treadmill this morning and started working balance drills in the pool.  Damn I never really noticed how much my legs sink.  Swam 250 at the end and already it feels faster and less of a struggle to swim.  Next race is the first weekend in August so I'll see how much progress I can make between now and then.

Unless the water is ridiculously cold, no need.
